    They Make "IT" Too Easy

    Sometimes "it's" just TOO easy
So here I am at Moehgan Sun Casino, and I'm smiling, why?

Seem that one of my suppliers had his "Dealer Appreciation Day" for the past year's business purchases and as a way of showcasing some new products. The show started around 9:00 a.m. and lasted until about 2:00 p.m. The return bus wasn't due to leave until 5:30 p.m. so we had some free time to either gamble, drink, or what ever we wanted to do. Not being a gambler or drinker, I decided to SHOP.
When we had arrived at were being led to the Convention Center Area we had passed through the retail shopps section and, Lo and Behold a Cache store sign SCREAMED out at me. (Mental note to self: "Remember where this store is")
So when the show was over and we had been escorted to our private gambling area, I kinda stood around for a bit and slowly melted away from the rest of the crowd. Believe me nobody missed me a single bit. They were too busy with their own thoughts. One person out of around 250 people, in a sea of other casino customers can easily vanish. Without knocking over too many people and trying desperately not to run, I made a beeline for the Cache store.
In I walk and begin looking at the selection, as usual I get the "May I help you?" question. My normal response at this point is, "Not right now, I'm just looking and maybe something will jump out at me and say, Take Me Home" By looking directly in the eyes of the SA when I say this, and haveing a big smile on my face I let a few things be known:
    1. I establish the fact that I have every intention of making a purchase, if I find an item that I want.
    2. By looking directly at the SA I let it be understood, (without actually saying anything) that I'm not at all embarrassed to be in her store.
    3. Another "unspoken" thing also happens at this point, I've taken her into my confidence about buying female clothing for myself, (without actually saying that I'm buying for myself) and I've "trusted" her with my "secret"
I've yet to find a negative reaction from any SA when I do this.
She smiled politely and left me alone to browse. I really wasn't sure of what I wanted, but I knew that I, at least, wanted to spend some time looking. While looking I happened to check the price$, (They don't give that stuff away) I know that Cache isn't quite a "thrift" store, and I have made a purchase in a Chace store before, in Salem NH, so I wasn't too surprised at the price. Once you get a taste for the "good stuff' it's hard to buy anything else.
Having made my pass through the store and satisfying my self that I could be in there without any problem I head for the door and pass by a rack of leather pants.....You may not believe me but I could feel something take hold of my hand and "force" me to touch the leather. I hear a voice behind me say, "Aren't they just so soft?" Without missing a beat, I answer, "Like butter to die for" ( I said that? Yes Phyliss, you really said it) That must have been the "Codeword of the day" The next things she says is, "What size do you wear?" Well I'm seeing a number of 6 s and as I am going through them I see some 8 s. With a few more to go through I say to her , "Please DON'T have a 12," with a sly grin. By this time she's helping me look, and we both see the 12 at the same time. "Would you like to try them on?" I look at her and the only thing I can see is a vision of my wallet and dollar bills with wings flying out. "Of course I would, please" was all I had to say.
Now those of us who have had the pleasure of being in the changing room with a SA helping know the routine. Here you are trapped and they keep bringing you more items. She opens the door and says, " Here you are, if you have any questions my name is, K*****n," One thing became quite evident rather quickly when I put on the pants. They fell right off of me. Too big! Too big? , a size 12 is too big for me? Oh happy day. Just about then she knocks on the door and asks if everything is OK. I open the door to show her how loose they are. "I'll be right back with a size 10." I take them off and quickly pull on my trousers. (modesty above all else) She's back in a moment with the 10s and two blouses. "Here try these. What do you think of these blouses?" One was all black in a lace pattern and the other was white, but very shear." I mentioned that the black one would be a bit too much black, but the white one may very well do, however it cried out for a cami to be worn under it.
"Oh, I am sorry, what was I thinking? I'll be right back" (probably a "test" of my fashion sense) 30 seconds and she's knocking again. Handing me the cami she explains that it has a built in bra. A nice light almost pure white cream color to go with the blouse. Pulling on the size 10 pants I find that they FIT, I'm a size 10, me a size 10!!! Oh happy day. I notice that the blouse is just too shear for my likeing. Knocking again she asks how things are going. Opening the door to show her she notices, like me, that the blouse just doesn't "work", but being a good SA she has another one in her hand at the ready. "Here try this one instead." The other one fits nicely, but the long sleeves are a bit too tight for my liking. One more "knock" and she's asking how everything fits, I show her how the sleeves just don't seem correct for me and she agrees.
"Ah, well I'll find something to go with these, I do have a loose fitting red cowel neck sweater that would work quite nicely, when I wanted to wear my larger forms, or, or I could just wear my smaller ones with the cami, for now"
"So, you want the pants?" "Yes, and the cami to go with them. please."
    "OK"
Closing the door I change back, (As much as I wanted to, there was no way I was gonna keep them on. Not that I minded wandering around the casino wearing them, but there would be too many questions on the bus ride back. Some of the other dealers in my line of work are,....shall we say, "Less than informed" ) So I head to the register where K*****n is waiting. Hand her the clothing and as she is wrapping it up I say "thank you" to her. With the tone that says "thank you for being so helpful and understanding"
"No problem" she says, "Glad to help you."
Sign my life away on the credit card. and walk out with the Cache bag hanging off my shoulder.

As I said in the title of this post, "They just make IT too easy" Now I'm NOT bragging or trying to "put down" those of us who have one pair of panties hidden in a tool box at the back end of our work shop, or stuffed between a mattress, and that's all they have, only because of any number of reasons. What I'm attempting to relate here is that when and if you finally get the self confidence to actually make a purchase. THERE WON'T BE A PROBLEM! If your follow the simple rules of being polite.
Didn't buy anything else except for a few candles at the Yankee Candle Shop, I did spend some time in a shoe shore there, but she didn't have anything in a larger size. No problem speaking with the mgr. there, just a lack of available product. Did stand outside of the Coach Handbag Store and drooled a bit.
So, in case anybody is wondering about the bus ride home with me carrying a Cache shopping bag. Just to prove a point to myself, I made sure to get on the bus first and take the front seat right behind the driver. Sat down and placed my bag on the seat next to me, where it would be fully visible to anybody who looked. (Our bus had 35 people on it with a capacity of 46, so I knew that I would be alone in the seat. As everybody else got on, not one single person noticed the bag or if they did, didn't recognize it for what it was. The few wives who were with "hubby" would have recognized the product name, but even they didn't pay any attention to the bag. (My "cover story" if asked, was that I had purchased something for a friend)
Again, any perceived "problems" or "worries" are usually of our own making. I truly wish I could "bottle" and sell selfconfidence. I'd make million$. However, the world being what it is, "selfconfidence" is something each of us, (no matter who) has to find for themselves. Please look for it, When you find it, a whole new world will open up for you.

    Hi Phyliss,

I saw a Cache store in the Copley Place Mall the other day and made a note to check it out later. Didn't look at any price tags but I was pretty sure they had lots of numbers on them. But Wow, some of the dresses in the window were real show stoppers! Now I will definitely go back en femme because I always like things to fit quite snug and the only way to check is to wear all my forms and pads. Just love it when an outfit fits just right!

Sounds like you had a great day.

Sally, yes the price tags do have lots of BIG numbers, but knowing the service and the quality, knida makes it worth while. The other Cache store I've been in I had the same sort of service and "acceptance". I believe that Cache "knows" and is OK with the idea.

Phyllis, You are correct on it being too easy. A good SA will buy into your shopping experience and will "feed the room" with items. I agree that once you wear the better clothes, there is no turning back. Is there a big difference between a $300 pair of leather pants from Cache or BCBG and a $30 pair from K-mart? The answer is a big YES. The fit and feel of the better clothing can not be described. There is also something to be said about trying the clothes on, and having the SA give you opinions on fit and style. You go girl. I shop the same way.

Thanks for letting those gurls know it's easy to shop. Everyone should try it at least once. Just to see how easy it is. One of the ladies from my local Lane Bryant called tonight, to let me know they are having a 2 for $59 sale, starting next week....BJ

Karen, I didn't win any money either, BUY I also didn't loose any. The supplier gave everybody a $10 roll of quarters as a "gambling starter kit" . I searched out some of the few "one armed bandits" they still have, and slowly fed it, (want to make the experience last). Drop in the coin, pull the lever and watch the wheels spin. Took me about 4 minutes to loose it all. That is my "gambling experience".
As for being "Caught on Tape",.....tell him to look for the person with the Cache bag and a BIG smile. (Almost as big as yours).

Still don't believe they're a size 10, and they fit. OMG I love it!!!!!

    Hi All,

I'm envious - unbelievably so. But I have a question. Do those girls from the UK believe that could happen over here?
