    Talking First Time Shopper

I took my first baby step into shopping tonight. On my way home around 10:30, I stopped by Walmart determined not to walk out without buying something. My first stop was to get some washer fluid for the car (needed it badly), then I proceeded to the makeup aisle. I was kind edgy b/c there were several people in the area and couple came down the aisle I was in. I finally decide on a clear nail polish and Carnelian Chrome. The I proceeded to pick out a couple pair of pantyhose. Again I was greeted by the random shoppers but none appeared to pay attention to what I was doing.

After choosing a lacy panty style and a control top style I headed to the checkouts. One wasn't very busy so I hopped in line. I was so shaky and nervous but had come this far, saying to myself "you can do it". The cashier rang up my items and never gave me an odd look or say anything outside the normal checkout conversation. I paid and continued out to my car with a huge boost in confidence and the realization most people pay no mind to others around them. It was so thrilling I plan on another trip soon to get the few items I didn't get but should have.

It's all possible by the sisterly support I have here.

    Extended Night.

I have continued my night. I decided to go for a drive fully dressed, with the drive being the easy part. For the most part, at 3:00 A.M., the only people out are a few drivers and the police. My biggest hurdle is my car is parked in a city parking lot 2 blocks away. I cautiously walked out there, with jeans and a t-shirt over my red dress and boots, without anybody driving by and got into my car. While I drove around I came across the cops a few times (not sure if they saw or not) and a couple odd cars.

What got my heart pounding was while I was returning to the parking lot, I met a pickup and happend to see him turn his head as he drove by. (admiring? or confused? not really sure) It then carried on to my walk back to my apartment, I decided not to cover my femme clothes in drab. On the main highway, 3 cars go past with no idea if they saw me or not. In my opinion I stood out a lot. Talk about a thrill .

My night has kinda reminded me of the song: Brave New Girl by Britney Spears.

    Atta girl Jenny! Baby steps.

It's funny, you said others really don't pay attention to what we do and it's so true but in our mind we are in the spotlight and the whole world is watching!

But the reality is everyone is so involved in their own little worlds just like us. And they probably think we are watching them and we never noticed.

It's so great to hear stories like these. Keep 'em comin'!

    Congrats Jenny,

Isn't it wonderful what a little experience does for you. Those little experiences builds confidence. In time you will be able to purchase the femme items without any internal problems . Little experiences built my confidence to the point I purchase what I want without giving it much thought what others are thinking or might think.

    Hi Jenny,

Go for it girl. You've done really well there - as you probably know, I've recently started going out like that and it's a great feeling.

You do start off convinced you stand out like the worlds biggest zit on a small face, but, as Julie says, people are all pre-occupied in their own worlds with their own thoughts.

    Keep up the good work!

    Hugs, Rach

    Thumbs up Hi Cheri!

Welcome to the forum Cheri. Please feel free to tell us a bit about yourself when you feel comfortable enough.

Jenny, way to go girl! I've been out for night time drives several times in the past but was always WAY too timid to get out of the car. Our garage is attached to the house so I can get to and from the car without anybody seeing me.

Keep up the good work. You and Rachel are truely inspirational.

    Another Step

Well....... I took another step last night. I was with some friends and test the water by asking a close friend of 3+ years what he thought of alternative lifestyles. I have a lot of trust there and his reply was a very positive one. I continued cautiously so as to be able to end it without him knowing what I was to say. Every response was good so I spilled my secret, and to my surprise, he was not shocked and actually told me some secrets that I never knew. He is very trustworthy and won't tell a soul as I wouldn't share anything he told me. It really was great knowing him to be a true friend and not judging me by who I am but by the actions I have done. I have stuck with him and his wife through thick and thin. I plan on going a little farther and telling her too, just waiting for the right moment. It was a great relief but I was so nervous b/c I had no clue what the reaction would be. I guess true friendships hold up even when you can reveal a side of yourself that they would never have guessed. I'm on an all time high right now.

    Thumbs up My first purchases

My first purchases were done all on the same day for a first visit to a long time CD. I nervously made purchases at various local stores for panties, nylons, a bra, and 4" heels. Anytime I requested assistance the clerks were most helpful and, of course they were told the purchases were for my wife as a gift. I was more nervous than necesary as most clerks often get similar requests.
In the end, I had a great experience. The lingere was very comfortable and quite exciting to wear.
My exeperience was altogether pleasurable and I hope to repeat it again soon.
Now for a sexy dress, a stylish wig. some makeup and jewelery and a nice attractive escort or companion and I might feel like a lady.
Don,t know how good I might look but the feeling was great.

I almost buy exclusively online, although occasionally I'll buy in a store. Mostly because I hate shopping in crowds (for anything, not just clothes)..... but I learned over time not to be nervous when buying in a store. If you're nervous, it tends to draw attention. If you're non-chalant about it and just act normal like you're buying non-clothing stuff, then
people won't really think anything about it.

    out and about

I could never really bring myself to go out in full drag, but on rare occasion I'll wear my pantyhose with flipflops while in male attire. Once I went to a store like this and was very nervous, but it was a thrill and I was building my confidence. But I have to be careful, I am in the military and I this would not go over well.
So I resort to these outward trips mostly to the mailbox or the truck to get something and avoid contact with outsiders.....

Ted, I can relate to the military thing. I have been in service for almost 8 yrs. After the first shopping trip, I haven't been really nervous, but still haven't plucked up the courage to buy clothes in person yet....... . Someday!
