How do you Carry Your Wig in your Car.

I took my wig to a Salon today to have in Washed and Styled. I keep my wigs on styrafoam heads. So here I am driveing, steering wheel in one hand and my wig in the other, when it came turning signal time I had to switch hands with my wig, them switch back again, this is a real pain in the butt. Setting my wig on the seat is not a option I don't want it rolling onto the floor every time I come to a stop or start. I don't have a wig case, and for those of you who do, do they work good? And for those of you who don't have a case what other ways have you came up with to carry your wigs while driveing. I know someone will probably say, why didn't you put it on your head? I had to make a couple stops on the way and the guys at the Harley Dealer probably wouldn't understand. Any Suggestions....

Why not just put the wig, on it's stand. in a cardboard box and put it on the floor.!!??

I hate to admit this, but I just stuff them in a bag When I get where I am going, I have some portable collapsible wig stands I use....

For a start driving one handed is a no no thats one sure way to get killed .:mad:
How about fixing a spike in the boot to put the stand on

I turn my current short synthetic inside-out and throw it in my nylon tote.... gives me that just got out of bed look!! hehe

I am a bit of a driving nazi: as 86% of accidents occur at intersections. its distractions like this that cause the problems

For ideas, carry a sport bag with wig stands inside. then they will stay upright as you drive,

Well when you bought the wig it probably came in a hairnet and box or plastic case. so why not use it to travel.

The simple system I used to use was just one of those big, handled, paper shopping bags from one of the shops. They usually stand up on their own and the wigstand keeps the wig intact.

For the home now, and sometimes travel I have something different. Go to Walmart and pick up one of the Sterlite Ultra drawer unit. The 16 x 12 x 8" one just barely fits one wig and stand. You can lay it down or stand it up. If you have multiple wigs these units stack. I got them so that I wouldn't find some rodent making a palace from my expensive wigs! They also make the wigs much less visible wherever you store them.

Hi Paula and Everyone Else,
You can see from my photos I like big hair. I have a Ford Escort and driving in my wigs would crush the style. I wear a dedicated "car wig" while driving. When I get to the place, I open the car's trunk and charge my wig. When I go home, I charge back into the "car wig."

I've got a wig case! Bought it on Ebay about a year ago. It's very retro and for some reason makes me feel ultra fem when I'm carrying it someplace. I get these images in my mind of some 50s Beauty stepping onto The Train Platform with her big brimmed hat and her pink and white wig case.

Does it work? Very well indeed! There's a peg attached to the floor of the case and when you see it, you will then understand why the Styrofoam heads have a hole in the bottom.

So, we can safely say that The Wig Case: A.) Looks cute and femme. B.) keeps your wig looking fresh and uncrushed. C.) They are relatively cheap on Ebay.

Try one, I think you will like it. It certainly is a better idea than "one handing" the steering wheel and trying to balance a wighead. At the very least, you will probably avoid an airbag deployment!

For now and with my inexpensive wigs, I gently put them individually on the soft tissue paper that comes with with clothes for gift wrapping. Then I gently roll them up and put them in a plastic bag, which is also sofly rolled up. So far this has kept the wigs clean and untangled.

I use the box it came in - put it in the hair net, tresses folded up into the cap. Most manufacturers (leaving out super expensive wigs) recommend traveling this way. Then, like Dana, when I arrive I put the wig on a collapsible stand to let it shake out a bit.

Of course, if I am driving en femme I just wear it...

Several years ago, I purchased a nylon ripstop small travel bag. I keep my wigs on styrofoam heads. I can fit two wigs on the heads nicely into the bag. When traveling, I just grab the bag and go. There is also a zipper pocket on the side of the bag. Just perfect for a small mirror, wig brush, styling spray, and any other necessities that I might want to carry.

Sadly no longer have I a car, but in that delirioous time I just used the box, after folding the hair into the inside. sometimes with tissue paper and sometimes not. Memory says that the tissue made no difference ecept to my feeling for the hairpiece.
Travelling now, I still use the box the wig came with, it is made to measure
for wig travel, from the beginning of its life.

My first wig came in a box from Beauty Trend. So I use that. Put a hair net over the wig while it's on its stand, then set the wig w/net in the box. Using the hairnet keeps it from getting that frazzled look.

And that makes 4000.
