My wife went ballistic.

This Memorial day week end my wife and I attended a picnic / pool party with some very close friends. Our Lesbian neighbor (Liz) and her girl friend were there too. We have known each other for years. Everything was going well, heated pool, good conversation, drinks were flowing and suddenly an uninvited neighbor showed up. He was a crude and muscular little man. His demeanor and language was vulguar, obnoxious and obscene. He made a comment about forgetting his bathing suit and Liz says maybe you could borrow one of mine She was joking. This little creep sez What do you take me for a cross dressing faggot? My wife screamed... What do you mean... Do you think that all cross dressers are GAY? WHAT do you know about CROSS DRESSING? You ##^%=%#. Liz said a few words and the creep called her a lesbo. I hate the terms ..Faggot and lesbo Im neither gay or homo phobic and I was glad when he was escorted off the property but dam girls. Where do these attitudes come from? Ive come to the conclusion that were not so bad, Its the rest of society that sucks.

There are closed minded individuals no matter where you go. I use a generic term and call it the "redneck mentality" and it can be found anywhere in the world. My wife is like yours she would have ripped him a new one hehehe.

Hmmm----I would have smelled trouble right away due to the fact that he was uninvited, second because he started throwing his weight around and third because he had a potty mouth. Now, I curse with the best of them but have the decency to know when it's called for and when it's not. Good thing I wasn't there, he'd have been in orbit in about 5 seconds. Things like that make me forget I'm a lady sometimes.

Well tests have shown that many homophobes are deeply repressed homosexuals...
And indeed. There seems to be a better average level of behaviour here than many places I've been.

Unfortunate as it is, many people have attitudes like that (or worse ones). I for one am terrified of being outed in the wrong crowds, because I volunteer to help teach some children's art and karate classes...and there's a good chance that at least one parent is going to label me a pervert (or more specifically, a pedophile) should they ever find out.

Attitudes like these are dangerous and misinformed, the sorts of things that can incite violence against innocent people. I'm sorry to hear that you live so close to somebody who holds those views, but I'm glad to hear that your wife really set into'em for it.

You don't have to be a Red Neck to be that way. I come from a long line of them. Can't recall any of them behaving that way.
We all know as well as I do, your birth location has nothing to do with how you behave.

Sorry this happened, it's a pity people don't try to educate them selves about things before they open their mouths, instead fo thinking they know it all

I think we all have witnessed examples of abrassive or offensive behavior. Yes, there have been times that I wanted to react in either a defensive or hostile mode to poor behavior. My grandmother gave me some sage advice years ago; life is too short and too precious to waste arguing with drunks and fools.

I can empathize with you and your wife's feelings. Better luck tomorow.

Its a sad state of affairs that people like that can spoil thing for others, however it does take all kinds to make this world...and unless we have the power of the almighty we have to learn live in/around the likes...

I think that what hurt the most was when he called Liz (our neighbor) a Lesbo. We are very close. She is a valuable member of our community. and other than being a school teacher does lots of chaaritable work. Toys for tots, good fellows and such. She knows that I cross dress and have a fetish for heels and nylons. Liz has seen me en femme and her and my wife often joke about it. Liz is gold and has never critised me or anyone else. Weve met many of her friends and theyre all good too. Dammit i'm still at a loss......lahr.

Talking

Unfortunately that idiot is a prime example of some of the people I work with. Perhaps the main reason that I don't come out at work and transition on the job. Oh well! Another 3 years or so then I retire and then they can kiss my...
And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight inside the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.

Attitudes like that come from fear.

It doesn't matter whether someone is prejudice against another race, another sexuality, another gender, etc., etc., it all comes from fear.

Not only are people like that afraid of what they don't understand, they are even too afraid to open their minds and learn anything about what they fear. They are cowards, pure and simple.

Unfortunately I encounter people like this (racist and homophobic) almost daily, at my job, members of my SO's family, etc., this is a major reason why I am still in the closet about my CDing. Sometimes I feel the need to take a shower after being around people like that.

Kudos to your wife and your friend Liz for standing up to him and kicking him out.

Uggggg... Some people are just idiots plain and simple... Don't know why we are so shocked... Seems like a majority of people have some kind of overwhelming prejudice to one group of people or another......

See even I have a huge prejudice ...... Aginst stupid people that are prejudice..... Catch 22.....

In this day and age, with all of the good info out there I feel that people do not want to know, they prefer ignorance over enlightenment. A case in point, when my oldest daughter was in second grade one of her classmates called her a halfbreed. I was furious, that kind of thinking is 100 years old and yet you know this child's parents taught that to them! I guess my point is, that it is easier for some people to wallow in ignorance than to try and learn a little understanding, I think that if they get too much knowledge it may challenge what their parents have taught them and it makes them afraid!

Sounds like a good party. Good drinks, good conversation and you got to see your wife and a neighbor go off on an idiot.
You had better be good to your wife, she may be a handful when agitated.

I was a child of the 50's and when I was growing up many of my friends hated "Japs". Why? Because thier parents hated them a decade earlier when we were at war with Japan. They didn't hate "Krauts" even though their fathers were in the ETO and fought against Germans. Because Germans were white Europeans like their ancestors. Japanese were different, they didn't look like us, their culture was strange, and they didn't assimulate themselves into our society. In fact there were extremely few, if any, Asians in our area. And they were easy to hate because we WANTED to hate them. The same held true with blacks in the 60's. Other than the SAC base in our area, our towns were mostly lily white. But we had kids who hated blacks. They had never seen a black in their life, but they had indocrinated themselves with what someone else had said, most likely an elder who may have had the same indoctrination. Why? Because it was easy, and they WANTED to. It is easier to hate than to accept so human nature takes the shortcut. This jerk has proved that he is a lazy person unable, or unwilling, to take the time and effort to know you or your friend. Unfortunately he was on a mission to brove his laziness by coming over to make a bigot's statement You don't have to understand him, but don't hate him. That won't make the world a better place. We have to teach our children fairness and tollerance for those we don't understand even though they mean us no harm. Pass on understanding and acceptance to those you have influence over girls, and someday we may have a world where bigots like him are an endangered species.

I like that wife

I think you're a lucky person to have that kind of support system. We need more people who aren't afraid to stand up for what is right. Definitely, that wife is a true keeper

I guess I have been lucky for never having to face someone like that. The fun thing to do would have been to slip him a mickey and when he was out give him a nice make over with cupid bow lips , put a banana curl wig on him and a nice little frilly nightie and drive him over to some public park and set him on a bench hehe, and oh yes call the cops!hehe

One could wonder that being a little man is the problem here. He muscles up and acts like a bully to compensate for his shortcommings in his height. This guy and guys like him need a few years of therapy. And they think we have a problem. sheesh...................

I had a similiar situation happen to me. I was at a local bar with very attractive girlfriend. This little muscled guy in a shirt with the sleeves cut of apparently tried to get my friends attention. Well she did not notice him so he came up to our table and demanded to know why she did not say hi to him. I said that she did not owe him any kind of attention and I did not appreciate him approaching our table with his negative crap. He called us "dikes" and walked away to get into a fight with another guy. Maybe it was the same guy?

to your wife for defending your honor. Kitty
