I am seriously thinking of retiring there. The quality of life is superb if you are earning a decent Western salary. And to finally be free of social stigmatization would be a godsend, that is the crux of all our problems.

It is very true, that the Thais are the friendliest, most accepting, people in the world. I've been there many times, once for 6 weeks. And I love it. However, there is one little problem. When shopping for clothes, men's and women's, there is the problem of size. The Thais are a small race. And anything made for the Thai market is not likely to fit an American or European frame. Historically, I have had to have clothes made for me. Luckily that is extremely cheap. Tailor shops are everywhere...especially around the tourists haunts.
In the past few years, the tourist area around Pattaya City has been actively chasing the Russian tourist trade. And, as many of you know, the Russian women are not generally petite. So it is possible that we may be able to buy off the rack in a few years.
One more thing. If any of you guys are bi-curious, or interested in being with a transvestite, this is definately the place to go. Availability is incredible. Beauty is unbelievable. And, the stigma of taking your new friend to your room is practically nil.
[SIZE="3"]I have heard that Thailand is trans friendly. I'm very happy about your work with getting rostitutes off the street. Tell me more.

I'm getting better with age. I may have started late, but better late than never!

Thailand sounds like a wonderful place. If they want to call me a Ladyboy that sounds good to me.

Hi,
I'm new to posting. Just wanted to say that Lady boys are not CD's they are transgendered.

Actually, I saw a cable TV show that said the ladyboys are not all socially accepted well in society there and that there are some reservations about them like they're bad luck.
The Kathoey have advantages over most of us, when they CD. They r non-hairy, small chested, and both males and females have slight builds, with thin arms and legs. Heavy Thais r pretty rare. U can't tell some of the CD Thais r men. They look incredible, even if they're not TS's.
Like I needed another reason to want to be Rita when I grow up
You're right, many of the 'Ladyboys' in Thailand are gorgeous! They even put many GG's to shame.
I really did think the term Ladyboy was for CDs as well, but maybe it was attributed more to the transgendered.
Hugs
Lovely Rita

Belatedly, just read this thread...
When I started going out to tg venues in Los Angeles in the '70's, there were a number of Thai girls, most very femme and pretty, present. They were all very feminine in their mannerism, now I understand why... They must have felt very constrained here.
A ts girl who'd gone to Thailand for cosmetic surgery a few years ago was a bit taken aback when someone called her a ladyboy. Not sure whether she realized it was not intended to be prejorative. Aside from being rather tall, she is very passable, so it might have bothered her to have been read.

I saw this post a week back and wanted to respond to it but didn't quite have the time.
Actually.. most Asian countries are very conservative and barely tolerate TG/TS/CD, particularly MTFs. Thailand is probably the most tolerant of all S.E.A countries that I know, even then public
frowns upon any deviancy from the norm. http://www.fridae.com/newsfeatures/a...searchtype=all
Yea... they are put on hormones since 6 years old.. and often not by their own choice. You're right, many of the 'Ladyboys' in Thailand are gorgeous! They even put many GG's to shame.
Trying to be myself..
Not really Rita. The ladyboys in Thailand have sex with men, the beni-boys in the Philippines have sex with men. Crossdressers are considered for the most part straight and do not have sex with men, at least this is what they claim. I would not equate the term ladyboy to be equal to the term crossdresser.
I do know that the people of Thailand are of very kind heart. Of all the places I have been I would have to say that I rate the people of Thailand among the very best.

Ah yes, the '3rd sex.'
One day it will be the same [only better] in Australia and America and other countries alike.
I can't wait. I know I already place transgendered women on a pedestal. :blushing:

Thanks for starting this great thread, Rita.. I did not know so much about this side of thailand. I always thought that the The Thai/Asian "ladyboy" was just their equivelant or versian of our pornographic "********". Anyways, I really do hope to visit Thailand someday and what an adventure of a diffferent coulture it must be. AND yes us western coultures could learn ALOT from their ways and beliefs!
