asking where they bought the products and what they are.
I do this, particularly with people I don't actually know, i.e. passers by, sales assistants.
Starts a good conversation and makes their day too!

I like that suggestion. I know I always enjoy getting complemented or talking about an article of clothing I have.
I told an assistant that I thought her nails looked lovely and I liked the colour of her nail polish.
She explained that she'd had a bad morning and hearing that had cheered her up.
Heathr,
I find GG's almost always like those little complaments as long as they dont think we are hitting on them.
I often complament the ones I know on new hairstyles or cute outfits, but think I may go over more as a polite flirt than a girly guy

I try to not flirt at work since I am the one incharge and I don't want anyone to think that I am biased or showing favoritisum. But a honest complainment is alway taken well and makes people feel happier. Though telling another guy that you thing his pants look good from behind never seems to go over well . But the ladies here think that I'm happly married and am not coming on to them. Then again this is an industrial setting and most don't wear girlly things to work so when they do it really brightens up the place.
