    Occupation Survey

Knowing that we come from different walks of life (I'm still perfecting my fem wiggle ) I am curious about what other members do to put bread on the table. No company names or other identifying information needed, just a general description of your occupation. Titles are OK for this.

I'll start. I have been involved in the automotive industry for most of my career, from dealer sales (forgive me, but I hadda eat), factory rep, and lastly as a warranty specialist for an automotive supplier. I took a buyout package last Fall and am currently looking for work. I'd like to find an occupation more appropriate to my current lifestyle, although that's a tall order for the area where I live. Automotive is still pretty much a man's world, which is why I could not CD as much as I would have liked.

I to am a Engineer for a auto company and we have lots of women working here and they very diverse. I could probably go full dress, with the company having no problem. But my co-workers would be another story.....

I can't explain why, but this is one job that I've always dreamed of. Having absolutely no idea about it, I always looked at it in the romantic sense, you know, the open road, seeing the country, etc.

Oh -- what the heck Amy, go ahead and tell me that I've got it all wrong

Computer analyst. That's not my job title, nor a particular description of my present job duties: more like a career description.

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but these questions about jobs/ work / career come up from semi-regularly. Could someone suggest a good appropriate tag we could start using for these threads?

    Lady? Trucker

    Amy,

I'm considering getting into truck driving myself. I used to drive a 10 wheeler with a screamin' 6V71 and 13 speed Road Ranger in one of my past lives. Never drove an 18 wheeler except around a parking lot once. Do you drive dressed? Seems that would be a little bit dangerous since trucking is still full of macho types (nothing against them, I can guzzle beer, belch, f@rt and scratch myself with the best 'em), despite the fairly large numbers of lady truckers out there. And I do recall a particular episode of Cops several years ago where a CD trucker was pulled over for some infraction and was instantly outed to the whole world. I really felt sorry for that individual.

    Tess-Leigh,

How 'bout "Occupation Survey"? Maybe admin could make it a sticky so it doesn't keep popping up when it comes to someone's mind.

I'm an analytical chemist in the water industry. I was a computer geek on the side for many years. Before that I was a block/cement mason. Before that I was a machinist. Hopefully, next year I can retire and become a full-time farm girl and housewife.

Just consider yourself lucky if you don't have to find clothes to fit over muscles. He-man by day and dainty by night!

    Good topic, thank-you.
