Is there a common "symbol" for a crossdresser?

    Hi,
I have a curious question. Is there a known symbol, emblem, item, necklace, ring, etc...that crossdressers wear or display when out in male mode? I heard of other lifestyles having such things, but not this one.

Not that I'm aware of, but

I think this forum's logo would make a good one.

The symbol usually used by crossdressers and all under the transgender umbrella is below.

No matter what symbol was used how would it be used? I think few would wear it because they don't want to be identified in public. Also, if it was worn by more and more people then it wouldn't be long before everyone knew what it meant. Then you might as well just wear a skirt out, that would be symbol enough. For FtMs it would be a bit more difficult to identify themselves since male attire on women is acceptable.

There appears to be a few variations on this same theme but here is my version anyway:

Most of us are buried so deeply in the closet that we will hardly admit to ourselves that we are crossdressers let alone advertising the fact to the world. An appropriate symbol might be a couple eyeballs peering out a closet door.
It takes a real man to wear a dress.

I am in complete agreement with TommiTN, the logo of this website, the Yin Yang Symbol in pink and blue, with both genders mixng/blending ... such a good design. Those not in the "know" would just think it was something do with Tai Chi, Chinese Horoscopes or suchlike. Those in the "know" (such as the cool and wonderful people who use these amazing forums!) could offer eachother a knowing wink!
I would be tempted to have the Yin Yang symbol on a teeshirt and the legend "SISTER ON THE INSIDE" printed below. ... but thats just me! xx

PS Sparks, I love your signature. I did cry on the day I heard that Jack the King had died. The world doesn't understand the legacy he left. Thank you!

I heard you were supposed to paint the pinky finger of the left hand black, like with a magic marker, to signal to others that you were a cross-dresser/ transgendered.

At least that's what I've heard, and I've been doing it since January of this year.

If you're still afraid of outing yourself, than don't.

I like the black fingernail sign.

Caroline, I've heard that as well. Of course, it should probably be bright pink instead of black.

    It's the shoes...

The world would be a better place if everybody learned yoga...

    Rated "TG"...for some gender bending

Hope that works ... here is my teeshirt idea. Forgive the crude drawing of a teeshirt, I did it quickly with the mouse, no time to draw, scan and cleanup!

I'm not sure yet whether or not if I'd wear the tg symbol but I was at a retaurant with co-workers for lunch one day and we had a tg server. From what I could tell, she had to work in drab, but she was definitely TS. When I got the check for my lunch, I wrote in a generous tip (brave gal) and drew the tg symbol next to it.

So as you see, there could be a few different ones.
Melanie's is probably the most accurate/common.

I propose a CD symbol be the Ford logo, cause3 real men drive CHEVYS, not fords. Well that and people who are anti-chrysler like me.

    Amazing...

ok, how about parting your hair on the right, but...only during a full moon, when the tides are high...the wind must be from the west...and the temperature must be 70 degress F? all in agreement?
