Yep. I don't think it's a memory issue so much as it is a part of being human.
As we get more comfortable with ourselves, there is less mental "filtering" going on. Shaving legs is a great example. The first time I did it, I was worried everyone would notice. Over time, nobody cared, and that lead to me "relaxing" and not keeping that possibility in working memory.
Not keeping that possibility in working memory means it gets less mental attention, subsequently my focus on things that interact with "survival" instincts moves on...as I shift focus to the more "threatening" things.
So there's that primal thing, and just in general as we get more comfortable with who we are, we're more willing to share that with others, either consciously or unconsciously.
