    Makeup shopping for my SO

    Hell-o all,
Last night I was out shopping,in guy mode. I was picking up a few Christmas
    gifts for my wonderful SO.
My first stop was at Macy's, where a few days earlier my SO had shown me an
eyeshadow color pallet from Urban Decay. I found what she wanted, and continued to
peruse the makeup department a bit longer. The SA's all appeared to be busy anyway.
As I was looking at a few things one of the SA's came up to me and asked if I was ready
to checkout, and apologized for making me wait.
So to the checkout counter we went. Her first words to me were "I'm assuming this is a gift, so I'll
give you this nice little gift bag to put it in."
My mind was searching for some sort of witty comeback, but as it actually was a gift,
    I couldn't find a thing to say.
What if it had been for me? Would I still get the cute little gift bag?
Anyone else ever get in this situation?
    Much Love,
    Kristyn
I smile because you are my friend, and
I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it!!!

I've made a number of purchases for myself recently (too many!) and am usually asked if I'd like a gift receipt (despite the fact that I was wearing a dress). Usually I'll say something like, no, it's for me or that won't be necessary, it fit me just fine!

You should have said it was a gift for you and you'd love the bag!

I always go for the gift bag or voucher, makes a more pleasant gift from me to me.

Also I like to get my moneys worth.

I used to believe this, now I'm in the company of many tiggers. A tigger does not wonder why she is a tigger, she just is a tigger.

When I have an opening like that I go wild: its for me-does it match my colors? No, it is for my boyfriend. Hey, everything on the list. And it can go on. What I have found is the SA usually gets into the spirit.

Once, while dressed (at a Kohl's) I had slipped out of my pumps and when I went to check out (SA had notice the shoes back on) I made a 'typical' woman's comment about next time wearing flats. She loved it.

"Actually it's for me." I've found those are magic words.

Had the exact same thing happen to me the other evening in Ulta, buying the Urban Decay Naked palette for smoky eyes and a glitter eye liner for my wife. I laughed inside as I thought "if only you knew"!

    Hi Kristyn,

Cute story . . . perhaps if she knew you were CD you would have gotten an extra cute little gift bag .

    Cheers

    Hi Kristyn,

If it helps, buy another Urban Decay palette for me and you can keep the cute bag?
Sounds like a win win situation to me?

Who is to say you are not buying a gift for your alter ego instead of your SO? So you (she) deserves a cute piece of swag too

What about saying, "I think we're going to share this one."
Hi, I'm Steffi and I'm a crossdresser... And I accept and celebrate both sides of me. Or, maybe I'm gender fluid.
