    Physical Limitations

Hello, I was wondering if there was anyone else like me in the Forum. I am diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, I have a weak heart and fluid likes to pool in my lower legs. I use to have the most sexy legs, even my ex said they were so graceful. Well time has ravaged my legs and I am forced to wear pressure stockings....OH MY..... it is so hard to pull these stockings on...they are tight fitting to keep the fluid from collecting (so much for sexy stockings). Without the stockings my legs are covered in spider veins, my doctor shakes her head when she examines me...such a horrid sight. Luckily I was able to get black stockings and a pair of beige ones. With them on you can't see the ugly veins. Soooo anyone else have ailments that affect your dressing?

    Love is like the rose,
    Beautiful and Sweet,
    Move the wrong way,
And be pricked by it's thorns,
    Painful it the wound,
    as the heart bleeds,
Feeding the rose that is hidden,
Feeding and growing till it is strong,

My life is like an open book to love me is to know me. to know me is to love me.

I have a similar problem with my legs. It is showing less when I wear stockings but its still there

My second problem is losing hair, hence the ever increasing baldness on the top of my head. I have to wear a wig, which I find unconfortable, especially during summer... I used to have beautiful long and curly hair

    Love.

Like you I’ve a heart condition (M.I and complications), which in my case has resulted in numerous visits to my local and the specialised cardiac hospital at Papworth. The procedures I’ve had have left me with a sensitive chest, which means it is very uncomfortable to wear things like underwired bras for any length of time.
It also means that I’ve got to be very careful about what knickers I wear en drab, and be very scrupulous about thing like removing nail polish etc, in case I have to go back in at short notice.

I've recently been told by my doctors that I should wear "compression stockings" (her words) now, I know what she meant, knee high compression socks for men, but the prescription she wrote had the word stocking on it, so..... that's what I picked up at the pharmacy. The sales girl never even flinched when I said that was what I wanted. She measured me for the correct size and asked for my insurance card.
Now as to getting them on, well that was a bit of a trick at first but I've managed to figure that out. First off DON'T roll them or you'll never get them on. use some baby powder if that helps to slide them on.
There is a site called www.brightlifediredt.com that sells compression stockings of all kinds for both men and women. One of the things they have is a frame that a person can use to help get them over your foot. You kinda slide the stocking onto the frame and step into it, then pull the rest of it up as far as needed.
One thing I've found is the brand known as Jobst, while really good are very expensive, on the other hand there is a brand called Allegro that aren't quite as costly and they have some really nice sheer stockings in a variety of colors. Both in the thigh high and pantyhose style. Personally I wear the Allegro brand in 15 20 mmg. When removing them I slide them down and pull them off so they come off inside out, intentionally. Put them into a lingerie bag for washing and hang them up to dry. Dryer heat will ruin the elastic. When I get ready to wear them again, then I'll turn them right side out.
One nice side benefit is, about a week ago I bought a skirt and when I asked the sales lady for her opinion of how it looked on me she commented that I have really nice looking legs, and that my stockings looked really good. Didn't tell her they were compression types, and she didn't notice either.
    Lead me NOT into temptation
(I can find my own way)

I had CHF in 2000 and went to the VA hospital in Topeka, Kansas. They put me on a low sodium diet and a bunch of meds, and my lungs cleared up and so did the swelling in my lower legs. Now my legs are a gauge of how well I've been sticking to the diet, if I eat a lot of salt, the next morning I can't get my shoes on, if I don't, they are OK.

I was in construction laborer physical shape before it came upon me, and gradually increasing activity later got me back to where I can work 8 hours for a day or three, but not a 40 hour week. I have refused to let my heart condition be an excuse for not getting enough exercise

I used to have heart murmur. But a lot of biking to lose over 65lbs has erased that. Now I have a strong heart and aerobic system.

The worst thing i have is IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) which means i suffer from stomach cramps and very regular trips to the toilets.
When i'm like this, 3 to 4 days a week, i can't even think of dressing because of the pain and discomfort.
But on a plus side i'm being treated with Human Growth Hormone, for a different compaint, which has the nice side effect of taking fat off my body, so i don't put on weight and stay the same size, which is handy when you're on a budget like me.
    Luv Ya! :be:
