But first and foremost, keep in mind that the entire issue "Christians" have with sexuality is completely alien to anything Jesus preached. It is worth stating here that Jesus Himself was not a Christian -- he was a Jew, and a very iconoclastic one, at that; remember, he was nailed to a cross for His rather liberal views and His complete contempt for the legalistic and ossified mindset of the Sanhedrinists and their stranglehold on Jewish life. In other words, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain -- these "preachers" and mouth-pieces for Christ are in more trouble than you or I, for they sow the seeds of hate and intolerance. If anything, Jesus may have decided for Himself that HE did not need to indulge in anything temporal and sensual ... beyond the necessities of carrying out His ministry. Remember this: each one of us carries spark of the Divine. God created us His image, and if you want to go the distance, God is the First and Last TS, CD or whatever. He made all of this. He is more in tune with our needs, desires, longings and hopes than is humanly possible. God loves you, no matter what. Does He love CDing? I bet dollars to eternity that He really doesn't care if we wera the clothing of the opposite sex or not.
And true, only time will tell.
For those of my beautiful sisters who are atheist or agnostic, just remember that those of us who do believe, and who do understand the Word, judge you not.
These people who claim to speak for Jesus or God do NO SUCH THING.
And tightsgirl, I am a conservative. I truly believe that you do not hate me, but that you may be angry and you get short-tempered with a class of people whose philosophy you do not understand, either on purpose or through ignorance ... I don't mean this in the pejorative sense, but say that perhaps you haven't explored the positions of conservatives on many issues. And this not the time or place for such discussions. I will only say that you debase yourself by hating anyone.
As my final thought on the issue of it being somehow OK for women to wear slacks but sinful for guys to wear pantyhose and heels, keep in mind that women in suits are not trying to be or feel masculine ... it is a fashion thing or a convenience thing. We, on the other hand, have identity issues and we do it for a number of reasons, and many of those reasons fall into the category of sexual gratification. And as I already pointed out, some people who stand inside the Christian tent see any sexuality as a threat and as a thing to be quashed. Let's not stoop to their level.
