Good evening ladies, it has been some time since I have posted here. I have had many issues going on. Thats why I am writing now.

How many of you are involved with making changes in the laws, insurance, & any other problems we all face????

Thats what I have been up to. Our local college is bring some people from the Cities down to hold an all day session of teaching the medical profession what we need. A therapist is also coming to speak on how our emotions run thru this whole ordeal.
I have also been bugging state officals to make changes in the laws. Restroom use, getting insurance coverage for us, protecting our jobs, just to name a few.
I have been asked to be on a panel to answer question at the session to which I have agreed to. My shrink can not believe how active I am in this endeaver. She has stated how proud she is of how I am taking control of my new life. I guess I too am surprised at how much I believe we need to be treated fair & I am not sitting on my butt waiting for others to do it.

( not yelling here but) HOW MANY OF YOU ARE FIGHTING FOR WHAT WE NEED?????????????
We all can make a difference if we all take the bull by the horns & do our fair share.

I hope is will help some of you think about doing something & others to try harder. & yes we can use M to F, F to M, GG's , SO, everyone that is on this site & more. What do you say, can we start to make us be normal like everyone else instead of how most see us now, I think so. Please help.

I hope I have not upset anyone by this post. Everyone here is a very special person. I believe we are a special group of lovely people & a very close knit family, we should help each other.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Hugs N Kisses,
Janelle

I would love to do those things, but after modding, counseling others, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and dogs, I don't have time to sleep. I am going to be interviewed by a college student doing a paper on transsexualism, so I'm going to volunteer myself to the school for talks if they're interested, but that's all I can do for now.

I agree whole heartedly. However, we are an unusial group, as in many ways for the most part the ones willing to speak up for us are the ones that turns the rest of the world off (i.e. drag queens). I am not saying there is in anyway anything wrong with that. The ones that might carry the strongest voice with the non-tg community often blend into their new female or male roles and try to forget their past life.

Then we are battleing a two front war.

On one front we have those who dispise us based on religious, fear or any other crazy idea they can think of to justify why we should be shunned.

Then we also have to battle Hollywood. When was the last time you saw a mainstream movie or Television series (Ugly Bettly might be the exception as I've never seen it) that did not place us in a comedic setting? Murray, Jerry Springer, CSI, Soroity Boys, the list goes on and on and on.

So we have lawmakes who when they see "TG" in a bill automatically think of an outragous drag queen, and see us as a joke, or want to burn us at the stake per orders from God. And I'm sure there are those who feel both ways.

There are exceptions to every rule but I think you get the idea. We face an uphill battle and the only way we can win is to stand united as a whole community.

Thanks for your thoughts & input Karen & Jess.

Karen: By you talking to students you are making them aware that we are not freaks. That we are real people like them & all we want is to be loved by others as we do. Its a very fine place to start & yea dear, I knoe we all have tons of things to do but sometimes we need to take 5 minutes & write a letter or 2 or offer to meet up with people & tell them the truth not all this Hollywood BS. Keep plucking away at it & things will get done. Thanks!

Jess: Yes you are very right in how many things we fight. Don't you think we need to try to show people that we are not the freaks that Hollywood makes us out to be? & as for the government, they are working for each of us or should be & we all have a right to say that things need changing. Is it going to happen mostlikely not but it will never happen if we don't try. I don't know about you or any one else but for me learning to accept who & what I am was hell on earth. How many never get help to understand what is going on & end up taking their lives. How many keep it out of sight & strugle thru life. Yes I had many battles with myself but thru educating myself I learned what was going on & to be honest I believe that is the worlds problem, they don't know & as long as no one makes them learn things will be fine.
As for the church, they are something else. I have talked with my pastor & he claims if I have always felt this way( wrong body) it is different than those who give it a try for other reasons. Also the church takes things to serious. Did you know according to the bible (old testament) is where they most often get their battle back ground. But if you & others would point out that those same sections tell us to be doing otherthings like not eating pork, or if your kids are bad they are to be stoned it puts a different light on it all.
Yea dear we are in one hell of a battle. Yes we are the odd ducks in the pond but again if we do nothing than nothing will change. Isn't it worth trying to make a better life for yourself & if not for you, some very young child that may have just been born & will soon learn about themselves???? I for one think it is worth trying to change the system or if you will fight city hall. At one of my appointments with my shrink she asked me why I do this. My answer was simple to make a better life for me if possible or at least easier for anyone else that is younger or not even born yet. Yes this may be a dream but dreams like anything else need a push sometimes.

I hope all who read this think about that. Some one has always had to be first to make waves & get things changed. If we don't try who will???
Night my lovely ladies & think about doing more or at least trying.

Hugs N kisses,
Janelle

That was my point. The loudest voices are not the doctors, airline pilots, lawyers, and every day people who don't deserve the mocking laughter of some and the damnation of others. We have members of Focus on the Family linking crossdressing and transexualism to being a pedifile who are using Colorado Bill 200 as an excuse to go into a girl's school bathroom and molest the girls there on the 6 o'clock evening news. Not only is it degrading to the transgender community, but it is all out lies used to scare the uninformed massses. And they will fall for it hook line and sinker.

Jess let me ask you this, if these people you talk about only see what is on TV, or go by what they have heard, will they change? No, I believe we as transmen & transwmen after try to teach, educate or how ever you wish to say it, just what a REAL trans person is. Yes it is hard because people have been feed so much crap that yes its a big mountain for us to climb but if we don't who will.
I hope you will think about at least trying to do something. Let me say that one repersenative I contacted said she was not interested in "our life stlye". I kept writing her & explaining that it is not a choice & where she could get better information & lo & behold she is now on board. Will all battles come out this good, no, but then by trying we may hit the golden ring also. Yes dear its a hard fight but think how it has been for many other things in life, they all have had some kind of battle before people wake up.

Let me say Jess sweetie, I am proud of you because you are least looking at this post & telling me how you feel. You know that is a great starting point. You must believe it yourself or no one will.
I hope youi have a great weekend sweetie & you can PM me if you wish to chat more about it. Thanks again for your interest.

I recently wrote my governor and state rep about changing the laws so I (and other non- or pre-op TS) could have "Female" (or "Male" for the FtM) placed in my legal documents and driver's license, which Pennsylvania does not allow without SRS. It's still too soon to expect a response, however, if one is to come at all.

Other than that, I've been quiet. Well, other than being here for others when they need an ear and being a decent and friendly person when I am out somewhere. It may be a slow way to do things, but even getting one or two people at a time to see me as a "normal" person is a good thing. :)

Your right Sharon, it is slow & one at a time works. Don't give up on the government, keep after them. I would think for your drivers lic. you could change it with a letter from one of your Dr.'s or therapist as I was able to here in Wisconsin. Check that out with you local DMV.

This is really sad. Only a few people here on this site have tryed to do anything about the laws we all encounter & yet most are unhappy with them.
I am looking at this if I don't try to fix the problem than I can not bitch about what is happening. I wish others would take a deeper look at this & say you know shes right, we can make a difference. Lets give it a shot. But I could put money down on this & I am betting very few will take up the cause.

Guess I am very sorry for trying to others help themselves. I will keep fighting here in Wisconsin & pray others join in their own states as well.
