Anybody have any tips on how to make my voice less masculine? I don't have a deep, deep voice, but it unmistakably male. Trouble is, when I try to make it sound more feminine, it just sounds like Edna Everidge or Micky Mouse or just a man putting on a falsetto voice. Help!!!

Hmm... As an actor, my best advice would be: Don't over-do it!

Women can have deep voices to - just feminize it slightly, and don't worry so much about pitch.

... that's about it :p

some great sites referenced. It takes practice. Unfortunately, my day-job involves some broadcast work, so my male voice gets more practice. As someone else said, they sing en femme when they drive. One night, when I was driving to my gf's place, singing, my cell rang. Wenda answered. It was my GF. Wenda and she had quite a conversation. Apparently it was sufficiently convincing that she thought it was someone else. takes practice. wenda.

Everysince I found this thread and read over the reference source, I have been trying to find that majic voice. Well girls I think I found it. When I speak in my new voice only the bottom of my larynx vibrates but the top does not. My new voice is NOT very loud, but according to the reference source, it will get louder the more I use it. It sounds fem to me, so I hope when I have to use it on someone else it's fem to them. I guess I can find out when answering the phone. If the person on the other end produces a fem response, then I'll know that I on the right track.

Thanks to everyone for your contributions. I've checked them all out, and tried just about all the tricks. Today it came right, and I discovered something. The right voice for me is my own voice, but without the bottom register. I just talk as I would before, without letting any of the low notes come out. I'm not consciously pitching higher, just removing the notes that would have come from my chest. Like JoAnn, its a softer voice, but that's ok too.
