View Full Version : Swimming is a Problem

I knew this would become an issue, but I didn't think it was warm enough to worry yet. Guess I was wrong.
I don't have much topside yet, but I've got enough that a wet t-shirt would be totally inappropriate. But of course, I don't have enough to "fill out" anything, either, so I'm not sure I could get away with just tossing on a bikini top underneath.
Any tricks for handling this situation?

Wear a dark shirt, or scuba vest, or just don't go swimming..

Unfortunately, this may be the best advice for the situation. I typically LOVE to play around in the water but haven't in the the past couple years for the very reasons you stated.

Ouch. I guess there's always option D~ Get rich and build my own indoor pool where it doesn't matter. ;)

I have always loved the water too, and not able to go in much anymore for obvious reasons. LOL
But every now and then I go alone to a quiet lake with my speedboat and find a spot in the middle and take a dunk, but with a shirt on just in-case any lakeside homeowners are looking at me with their binoculars..
I just can't wait to be able to casually wear a pretty bikini top like all the other girls without getting a 2nd look.. It just sucks having the goods, but cant show them in public.

The swiming instructors I have seen, wear tank tops. They are a mesh material, you can't really see throught them and they don't soak up water or cling to your body. You might want to try something similar.
Don't supose there's a trans-swiming group that meets anywhere neer you? It might be worth a look.
If not, you could allways try to start one.

My topless swimming, went out the window a long, long time ago. When I do go in the water, which I so love, I wear a dark one piece. Out of the water, I slip on a nice button up shirt. The girls are a bit to large to hide anymore.

This summer for me is going to be a challenge last summer I was already showing I could get away with it. I have noticable curves that I did not have before they can be obvious if I wear the wrong top outside in male mode.
We swim alot at a community pool so I am pondering what I will do
Tzbet I understand your problem

In the past I wore baggy men's swim shorts and a baggy t-shirt. Unless you are huge nobody will notice. Later it was baggy women's swim shorts and a speedo women's top. This held the forms well. This year it will be a regular women's swim suit.:battingeyelashes:

I'm going to face this issue soon. I do a lot of sailing, often alone and away from land-no problem for a bikini-and I love the tan lines. But going to the beach will be. There's a nude/gay beach in Sandy Hook-where if you get a look half of the time it will be complimentary-I think I'll try there this summer. I also have light wet-suit tops that hide everything.
I have a crazy trannie friend who swims in her condo pool after dark. I know she's going to get caught some night.

I swam last summer in the pool owned by the apartment complex after dark in a one peice. This summer I will probably just swim when ever. I'm getting used to what and who I am. That being said, I guess it really depends on how far you have transitioned and how comfortable you are with allowing people see you at this point. For some it would be a non-issue pre-hormones and for others it will be an issue post srs. Ultimatly I suggest if you wish to swim go for it, and if the boobs are in the way do it as a woman. You may get a few stares, but last i checked that never killed anyone.

I'm looking for a womens t-shirt that is cut off halfway with stretchy material to bind, much like a sports bra but a t-shirt - anyone know if there is a maker of these out there?
Seattle area - gotta swim!! :)
I may have a boat again this summer as well...

if we are on the same page try walmart in their women's athletic section. Don't know about the sleeves but they carry a tank that works like you described.

I too have wondered about the upcoming summer and my new development, though not so large, clearly noticeable. I hope the sleeveless, loose mesh top-I have a white one and a blue one-will help hide the girls, can be used when swimming, and might be viewed as a sunblocking garment to avoid a burn. You might have to look on the internet (where else?) for them-not sure if Walmart, etc would be selling them this year.
When I go to the health club for exercise , I need to wear a snug fitting young man's T shirt-size 18- under my larger, looser adult shirt-to lessen (at least in my mind!) any undesired attention.

Me too, I swim like a rock. Straight to the bottom.:hugs:

It's funny, I used to not even be able to sink. I had to hold on to rocks or whatnot to stay down. And now days, I can just walk across the bottom, and can't float at all without paddling.

Well, I am planning to ignore other people's opinions cuz their opinions are theirs and none of my business.
I plan on a tankini with a skirted bottom. Cute and modest. Of course in the backyard a proper bikini is fine. Works for me.

Know the feeling. I'm 80lbs more than I'd like. That's too much... (she typed with one hand, because the other was full of candy :P)

Since I only have female swimsuits, if in public I usually wear a black tank-ini that truely looks like a tank top with boy-shorts bottoms. If public but few people around, I'll wear a tank-ini that is fem looking but you have to look twice (if you know what I mean - thinner straps and bikini cut bottoms). Public and no one around I'll wear a one piece. Public (or private) and no one CAN be around I'll wear a bikini (2 piece).
Fav memory of swimming - I worked the late shift about 35 years ago and had gotten home at about midnight. I was swimming in the apt pool on a warm summer night in my orange bikini. Now I had been swimming like this for most of the summer (when I got home from work) and I was doing gentle laps when all of a sudden there came a splash. Seems a GG had seen me swimming for the past week and felt safe going down to the pool that late if another girl was out there as well. She showed up several times over the next month and I'm pretty sure she never figured out I wasn't a GG as well...

Hi Girls, new to the forum. This is such a wonderful posting because I've been thinking the same thing. Although it is so wonderful being on hormones, swimming is clearly a problem in the near term for me. I'm sure someone here can know more, but I guess among any situation, being comfortable to be swimming in public is probably one of the most challenging for many of us.

How much are the forms and can they be attached?
This sounds interesting

I am sure they could be attached, its the same material as forms just smaller. I got a set for $10 on ebay, but seen them at walmart in the bra area in a small pink box, I think they were about $15. here is a link to some on the internet.

I'm opting for a shirted tankini this summer as well.
I wore a bikini last summer, but only in the back yard. I wore a skirted 1-piece at other times I needed a swim suit.
...And tan lines... Please use sun screen, I know a few people that have had to have facial surgery from tanning. Not a good thing at all.
Besides, tan lines don't look very good when you wear a tube top or strapless dress.

Hi, Last August my SO and me went on a beach holiday to an island where I used to live..... Most of the beaches are naturist. I am a B cup. Although Samatha came with us, most of the time I was my male self. We decided that I should just mix in with the rest of the folk on the beach. I got a few looks but nothing bothered me. I also went scuba diving and although no one bothered me I was a little conscious about my breasts when putting on and taking off my wet suit on the boat. After a while I forgot all about them. I wouldn't be without them now.

Tankini''s are cool. I love the way they fit, and it goes real well with cute little boi shorts.there was a time several yrs ago that a new family start coming to the community pool and it was all girls 5 of them from 11 to 19 yrs and the only thing that they asked about was my gold anklet not my suit (2piece) or the polished toes or the rings on said toes,I said that I liked wearing an anklet, they were cool and since then I'm one of da gurls.....:battingeyelashes: Hugs, sissy lynn ps tankini's still da best

Just sit by the water and look at other men. I'm sure you'll se some with much bigger breasts than you then strip off and in you go without a care in the world. It's not good to take the closet to the beach.

Last time I took my daughter and she had not mastered swimming just yet - close so we threw on life vests and floated out in the water - fun - plus it hid my breasts.
I kept them covered with my hands, I WAS cold too so it worked out....think the fact that I have my Navel pierced caught more attention than anything....

I usually wear one of those tops for surfing. They're like t-shirts but made of lycra / spandex and can be worn by either guys or girls. They hug curves a lot, so it's only going to cover until you get to about an A-cup.

I would definitely get arrested too!! Just as well I am a lousy swimmer and consider water only fit for drinking and for having a bath.

Recently they had very modest bathing suits selling at the local Walmart. They had a fairly full skirt down there, which would conceal any bulges. A little sewing could make pockets on the top, also somewhat modest, for silicone breast enhancers. For an older person, as many of us are, this style would not be at all out of place. For those wanting to win a swimming suit glamor contest, of course something much less modest would be in order and require tucking, if you have not had SRS/GRS down there.
