When I was discharged from the service in 73 I had never had long or even medium length hair in my life. But I let it grow and was amazed to discover that I had thick wavy hair. I grew a moustache and side burns to counter the fem look of my hair. And over the years I've had a full beard a time or two.
I looked kind of silly when I dressed up those years. Then I shaved the stache off. And I gradually shortened the sideburns until now where I shave them up even with my feminine hair line. Ten or 15 years ago I had my brows waxed at a salon. It was too much of a change so my wife had a fit. I let them grow back in. But then I plucked them back gradually over a long period of time. My family and coworkers got used to the look. Now I get them waxed once a month and they are very feminine. If anyone doesn't like it they don't say anything to me and I don't care what they think anymore.
Two years ago I started clipping off my arm hair with electric clippers. I shave my legs with a razor. Then last year I had my hair cut into a geometric wedge. I wear it that way all the time now. I can sort of brush it down when I'm in drab. But when I style it fem it has that cute angle out from the nape to the ridge line just above my ears. I love it. When I get up after sleeping I have to work hard with a brush to get it to lay down. Last month I had the loose skin hood over my eyes removed. That made a big difference.
So that is how I have morphed over the years. Last fall I drove 350 miles to attend my first high school reunion in 30 years. No one in our small class (50) recognized me. I fantisized about wearing a dress and telling them that I had transitioned. I believe I could have pulled that off if I wanted to. Ah to look back over the years and wonder about what could have been. Leanne
