over the weekend i went to the local pride fest. with over a thousand attendees i was the only cross dresser i saw! i did see plenty of drag queens (they were in full makeup but in drab - i think they were waiting around to get ready for their show) but no cross dressers.

i was shocked. i figured i'd have seen plenty of cross dressers sporting various levels of CDing (from "men in dresses" to "passers" - i was of the former type wearing a skirt, fitted polo, and mary janes). i thought the one time i'd see a flock of CDers out would be this event.

i was happy to get some comments like "You go girl, work that skirt!" and "You look good honey." but it would have made my evening to see some fellow cders.

has anyone else experienced anything like this? do you attend pride festivals? just curious.

This coming Sunday, Chicago is having their annual pride parade. I have no idea how many dressers there will be but I have been asked by over a dozen people if I'm going. I've never attended one (I think this is the 26th) but I have a feeling I'll be there. There's too many people I've met that are near and dear to me now that want me to go so I know I should even if I'm the only dresser there, which I doubt I will be!

Maybe I can get on one of those floats and sit there and wave!

that's one thing I hate about transgendered, we get thrown in the same category as gays (not that there's anything wrong with that, to quote seinfeld).. I just heard on gendertalk that san francisco is finally splitting up the gay pride and transgender pride into seperate parades.

No one is forcing the transgendered to be in the same category as gays. If the transgendered don't want to be lumped together with the gays then the transgendered should make their own parade and celebration. No one is forcing the transgendered to parade with the gays, transgendered people have their own free will to do what they want. Maybe some of the transgendered at the gay parade are actually gay. If they are not then they should form their own heterosexual transgendered parade. If the gays can do this, then so can the heterosexuals. I have read many times on CD forums how straight CDs make up the majority of Cds, if there are so many straight Cds, then come out of the closet and make your own parade and celebration.
No one else will do it for you,,straight CDs have to do it for themselves.

Just do it.

that's the problem with us CD's, we're so shy and afraid to take stands because we're never commited enough (as pre-ops, post-ops, and tranny's are). we do only have ourselves to blame, but it just sucks that we're often stereotyped.
