Well the big day arrived and I went to be assessed by the psych in the gender clinic in Leeds. I was extremely nervous but took on my usual laid back approach to the situation. It did kick off my dysphoria but only mildly nothing I couldn't cope with. I ended up with the psych my nurse specialist and some other woman who was who was training to join the team. so all in all there was 5 of us.
He asked me all the questions I expected plus a few others which could have potentially threw me but they didn't. I was able to answer everything with ease. We even had a few jokes about personality traits of mine which he got spot on and then at the end we joked about my belt of all things as its one that I let hang down in the middle. He thought that was out of line with how I am so I said to him, 'Well after all I am a contradiction in terms you know!!!' He thought that was really funny :)
He gave me his diagnosis LOL... A typical transsexual with a typical transsexuals brain. I loved that one as you can imagine ;)
His bests comments by far were that every patient is assessed for their individual needs and that the pace at which each individual patient progresses through the system is based on their individual needs through this assessment.
He also stated that he only holds one percent of the power and that I hold 99 percent of the power when it comes to my needs.
Ok what was agreed...
On the next visit at the end of March I have to evidence my real life experience, this is basically for want of a better way of describing it so I can be fast tracked.
I need to see their endocrinologist for her assessment of my bloods and I need to get more bloods from my doctor so I can take the readings to her so she can make some comparisons.
Mean while they will be asking for an appointment at Leicester Gender Clinic where I will be assessed again for a second opinion even though I've had two already lol!!
By my next visit in April I should have had that and then they can refer me to a surgeon regarding my chest surgery.
So all in all a great result and I am extremely pleased and happy with the thought that I may have this sorted by next year. Although if I challenge I may get it sooner from what we know already.
Well that's it for now, I'll keep ya posted peeps xx Felix :hugs:
