I'm pretty excited I actually made the appointment. I'm getting my neck, chin and upper-lip area done. Cheeks will be the last part. It's a long term project but will be more than worth it in the end. Anybody have experience with this?

Yes...go early so you can get some lidocaine cream put on and leave it to set about 45 minutes...will help numb...also see if the technician will lead the laser with some ice on your upper lip...will help A LOT...

Hi shayna, I live just up the road from you.
I had my first laser treatment last week. I'm not transtioning (yet) so I'm not doing my face. I'm just working on my arms and hands. Believe me there is enough hair there to keep them busy.
The only part that hurt was the knuckles. That stung but when the laser strength was turned down it was okay.
Good Luck!

I have to second the Lidocaine cream. It really made my face/neck procedures tolerable and not that bad. I certainly knew when I missed a spot.
My health care provider prescribed it for me. Lidocaine and Prilocaine Cream, 2.5%/2.5%. Just give it time to work and cover it with an occlusive cover if possible to prevent evaporation. Saren wrap works great.

Thanks for the support everyone. I'm not out 24/7 yet but that's destined to change as my living situation changes. I'm expecting pain from this but am looking foward to the ease of things after-wards. A Candella laser will be used on me when I go in a few weeks. It uses a cool blast of gas along with the laser pulse. I just ordered the numbing/antiseptic cream about 15 minutes ago. Apparently only one pharmacy in the USA makes it this tough - that's what I was told during my consultation.
I hear a lot less make-up is required after these procedures from reading the posts/threads on this forum. That will be so nice! :D
I'm also in the process of growing my hair longer at the moment, to wear in more fem ways. I'm also working on breast enhancement, using the Noogleberry breast pump and Zoft Breast gum. I've noticed some change, but I barely fill out an a-cup bra yet. I'm shooting for a nice a-cup for now. It may work or may not, but these things are more subtle and manageble right now then implants. I want to be as natural as possible anyways. If anyone has any suggestions or anything about breast enhancement I'd love to hear them. I've been on Zoft gum for about 3 weeks now but notice little change.
By the way thanks for everyone's support again. This is really my 1st thread in this particular forum. Thanks again! :)
Hi Shayna
I have done electrolysis for now about 6 month and it is the best thing I've ever done for myself. To get rid of the dark and ugly hair in my face has been so liberating. I just love it.
On the breast enhancement issue. Many TG people claim that only hormones does the trick, but I am not completely convinced. I have taken natural supplements for now a little under a year and have gotten nice results. I take Fennel, Fenugreek, Kohosh,Saw Palmetto and wild Yam, all herbs to develop more breast growth. I have a sweet cleavage after one year, but I am not at a point when I feel it is quite enough, although it certainly has made a difference. Patience is the key if you go the herbal way. It's all up to what you want of course. Also, it is important to mention that every person reacts differently to natural herbs as well as to hormone treatment.
Good luck

Laser is not that bad and it works well on the dark hairs. Any regrowth will come in finer and softer. When they get to electrolysis that is a different story. It is more painful becasue they are sticking you with needles to kill the hair follicle at the roots. Like was mentioned here the lips and chin area probably will be the most painful if not numbed before hand. Sometimes it is good if you can get the numbing process started before you walk in the door of the treatment center to let it get a good set.
You look young enough now and probably won't be doing the electrolysis until later after a few laser treatments. It felt like a high pressure atomizer was being sprayed on me. It didn't bother me at all, but I have gone on to the electrolysis and have had several treatments so far just on the face. If you plan on doing the whole body you might want to talk with them about a package deal. sometimes it is cheaper in the long run.

The pain is directly proportional to the amount of hair in the area being zapped. The hair on your upper lip is really dense, so that kinda sucks. The only place I had a lot of hair was my chin and upper lip, and my chin hurt so much. My upper lip only took about 10 zaps, but they just kept zapping my chin over and over and over for about 5 minutes.
But then when they stick the laser on a sensitive part of your neck, or on your nipples, you can't help but thinking it's going to really hurt, but then it doesn't because there's not much hair there. And that's the pain you're actually feeling -- the dark hairs cooking.

Definitely. I've only had one treatment on my whole face/chest/abdomen a month ago (plus I had a really short session on just my upper lip a month before that), and I have so much less hair. It's actually smoother than when I used to pluck it. I have to use less than half as much foundation. It's weird where it's decided to start growing, though. I just have a few patches on my face now if I don't shave for a couple days, like some bizarre continents of stubble.

Don't forget to have them do your sideburns. If you are going in as a male, they may try to stop at the middle or bottom of the sideburns (mid to lower ear length) You will regret this later. Sideburns tend to be thicker and dense like beard hair where GG's have either no hair in the sideburn region or very sparse hair that is similar to the hair on the rest of the head.
Also make sure you get a package deal for full removal of hair and not a set number of sessions

I have transitioned from male to Female. I started doing laser on my face and legs a few years ago. You need to start doing electrolysis ASAP, in order to get rid of all the hairs on the face. As for the hormones, i was prescribed hormones by a licensed doctor, so they can be regulated and i can be tested to make sure all the levels are in normal range. If you start self medicating, you can have some serious medical issues. If you plan on doing SRS, start getting electro done down in that area, because it does take time. I am lucky to live here in Phx, Az, and that the group doing my electro, laser treatment(Arizona Laser,Electrolysis,Skin Care) is also in contact with the local SRS surgeon(Toby Meltzer), as to what was needed for the SRS area.
I hope this helps.
It does hurt, and takes time, but it is well worth it.
Good Luck Ladies
Lori
