A little about myself. I'm currently an 19 year old guy in Austin attending UT. I come from a very conservative/catholic family. They don't know anything about this side of me though. I've been crossdressing for as long as i can remember since I was about 4 years old with my mom's clothes. I've always felt like something was missing though. And I just recently gathered up engouh courage to actually make an appointment with a therapist. I get to see her in two weeks! I'm so excited, although very nervous right now too.
I just wanted to shout this out. I have a good feeling about my future now.

btw...my parents are fine with it and just want whats best for me....it doesnt work out the same way for anyone but you should feel alot of hope, especially if your parents care for you

Gosh! I remember being 19 and scared out my wits, knowing that there was something incredibly wrong with me...and knowing that there was NO hope for me ...ever!
Bless you, starry, and all the young un's that have a world of choices open to them these days.
...and the courage and the opportunities to go looking or them.
Very happy you're here... and very happy to offer you
respect & love,
deja

Congratulations on doing something positive for yourself! You have begun to figure out what it all means to you. This is essential in order to understand it all. You must be comfortable with yourself before anything else.

Awwwwww I always feel so happy when I see people of your age being constructive in handling transsexuality... I stupidly elected a destructive path and just lost so many years that could have been happy...
Proud of you... Best of luck :)

Starry, good for you, I wish I had the knowledge, and courage, when I was 19. I wish all the best for you. Remember you have to accept your self first and for most, the therapist is a great first step.:hugs:

Hi starry, I live just up the road from you. I wish I could have made the desicion to explore my gender issues while in college. Of course I went to Baylor which is not a good place for gender exploration.

Hello Starry and welcome. I also live in the Austin area (Taylor) and I think you will like it.
You may want to look into a local TG group called TENT. (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TENTex/)

. . . that you are so young! You have your whole life ahead of you to be the girl you should be! You are smart to get a therapist. I hope he/she is really good and gets you headed in the right direction. Keep us posted! I'm sure everyone here will be happy to help guide you on your way to womanhood!

Congratulations, Starry. I have my first appointment on Monday. I'm excited and a little frightened also, but I have to do it.

If you are sure of what your feeling now, its the best time to start, rather then to live a lie for your adult life and then realize your a woman. Wish you well in your transition. Kimberly :battingeyelashes:

Ok, so today was my appointment. It was a bit awkward at first. I have just been so nervous and scared about this for the past 2 weeks. We eventually got to talking about my issues and my family life, since I still haven't come out to my parents yet. Then started talking about what options I have in front of me. I should be ready to start HRT within a few months as long as things don't go completely disastrous with my family. I'm gonna have to put alot of effort into that.
After my session, while I was walking outside, I felt the happiest I had been in years. It just feels so liberating actually talking about this with another human being in person. Once again, I want to thank you all for all the kind words and support. <3 you all!

Good luck with your parents, i am going to come out to my parents next weekend. I would have probably started transitioning at your age had I not been caught dressing at sixteen and not having the courage to speak out.
I hope your parents will understand and give you the support you need. :hugs:

Hi Starry,
Congratulations. I just had my second visit yesterday too. I told my therapist that for the first time last week, I wasn't so angry. It's nice to take a step for ourselves and in the right direction.
Hugs,
Cathy
