Yesterday I went to Sam's club to visit my mom while she was working. As I was walking through the food section a food server says "maam...maam" I said softly yes. She says "are you a model?" I'm like no. She said "you should be. Honey you look that good". I just smiled and said "thanks so much. You're too kind" I was.... I never got such a nice compliment in all my days as a lady. I was sooo happy! I've posted pics of what I was wearing. I had on my: Skinny Hudson jeans,Victoria's tee,JC Penny sweater,Nine West heels and my gorgeous Gucci shades. I also though I did pretty good with my outfit. So I'm wondering...Anyone else had any similar experiences???

What a confidence builder... You had to feel like you were on cloud nine.

For me, the best compliment had to come from my own mother. When I came out to her, I showed her a picture of Nicole. Her jaw dropped and she let out a resounding, "That's you?!?!" "You look great!"

Funny how even the smallest comments can have the greatest effect for good to one's confidence.

That's wonderful to get such a compliment! Good for you. Other than photographers taking my pic, the best I have received was when I was done getting a makeover and another customer told me that I looked pretty.

I've been told, "You've done a nice job" wich only means I've been read but at least I look good. Another time, I've been told by my hair dresser that I dress better than some of her customers.

Model? not a chance.

My counsellor told me last week that I had done a good job on my makeup. The omly other 'compliment ' came from a guy who said I looked gorgeous after I declined his offer to go to his hotel room, lol. :D

Just this week a woman told me I had cute shoes, but my all-time favorite compliment was in Vegas, I was dressed to the nines in a black dress, heels, bling, the works and making my way through the Palms casino when I passed a group of touristos, one of the women whispered to her friend "I think she's a hooker!"

Very nice story, it's wonderful when stuff like this happens to us.

As for the best compliment I've received, it's something I'll never forget. I happened to post on it right after it happened, here's a quote from that thread...

I was to meet a dear tg friend of mine at about 1:00 p.m. Having given myself plenty of time to get ready beforehand, I had a little time to kill at Macy's. I browsed cosmetics for a bit and then looked around for the shoes because they are having an incredible clearance sale. Didn't see the department so I looked at the directory. Curiously, not listed so I figured this might be one of those malls with two different Macy's stores. I wandered back through cosmetics, looking for a SA who wasn't busy. Found one in fragrances. Her back was to me so I said excuse me. When she turned around, surely not having time to even register "tg" or anything like that, she immediately said "oh my gosh, you are absolutely beautiful".

I was floored to say the least, and aside from a thank you and getting my question answered, I was utterly speechless. In hindsight, I kind of wish I would have engaged her in a little conversation. What specifically led her to say this? Did she happen to see this tg girl walking about already? Either way, it put me on cloud nine and set me up to have a wonderful remainder of my day!!!

I still regret not talking to her more to find out exactly where she was coming from. Either way, I absolutely adore receiving compliments.

Marlena,

You put together a gorgeous outfit, your makeup and hair looked perfect, and I'm sure all that gave you the confidence to carry yourself proudly and gracefully - in other words, you looked like a model. Yay!

I have definitely had compliments along the way - guys in cars almost breaking their necks for a better look, compliments about how I looked better in the clothes than other customers (usually voiced in a very surprised tone :)). Girls telling me they love my necklace or shoes. Ladies saying that they wish they could still wear the outfits that I do, etc. It seems the more you go out, the more confidence you have. I feel beauty comes from the inside, not caked on from the outside. If you feel beautiful, the world will know.

Anyway, please continue to post your compliments received. We all need to hear about the good things while we're out and about.

Sweety, I can understand how that would have made you feel!
You look wonderful and very attractive in you pics and I can see why she told you that.
If I had someone tell me that, I believe I would want to dress full time!

KathiAwww thanks sweetie.:hugs: I agree with ya on the more you get,the more confident you feel. It's a wonderful feeling. :D

I also get a boost from my women friends. We go all over together. Shopping, out to eat & out clubbing. I must look okay. I have a feeling if I didn't,they would not want to hang out with me. That's a confdence booster too!!

Hey...I see you have had your share also. I've seen some of your pics. You've got it goin on too!

Marlena,
That had to be the best compliment you could get and your pictures show that she was right. Very nice outfit.

I dressed for my sisters-in-law awhile back and when I walked into the house they said S**T she looks better than we do. Then there was the ton of questions on makeup, hair, nails and how did I learn to walk in three inch heels.

Those are the days when you can pick up your head and roar "I AM WOMAN" and smile all the way home. Thank you for your thread. Keep going and many huggs to you.

One time years ago, I was at a Triess meeting fo the 1st time. While I was on line for when food was being served one of the wives realized I was a guy and said that she and the other wives were wondering why I wasnt hanging out with them. Needless to say it made my night.

I managed to do that twice with GG partners at Seahorse meetings (similar to triess). Strangely, it was back when I was nowhere nearly as good with makeup as I am now (and I know that I could do a lot better still).

My best compliment was from a SA who told me "You had me completely fooled until you spoke." Happily, she didn't say that at the time but waited until the next time I was there in boy mode.

I think that the best compliment that I've ever received was one time I was in the bathroom at a club chatting with some ladies and I mentioned that I was trying to lose a whole bunch of weight that I had recently gained, and one of the girls turned me and said, seriously, "Why did you gain weight? Did you have a baby?" The other girls could barely stifle their laughter as I explained to her that no, I've giving it some thought, but I've decided I'll never give birth ! :-)

Marlena,

Great story. You look good and you must carry yourself well (half the battle, especially when taller than average).

I've been out and about for, what, 18 years or so, so I've had enough time to rack up a few favorites:

Browsing in the lingerie section of Macy's, and one of the salesgirls, a dark haired eastern european with perfect makeup, said to me: "You're so beautiful".

Once pumping gas (I forgot to do it before going out), a young boy said to me "You're pretty!"

Recently, when I told a woman who was chatting with me at a straight club, she was shocked and said "Oh my God, I never would have guessed, you're beautiful and your voice is perfect" (that's my favorite :) )

I've also been asked about "female" problems -- I was flattered, but confessed "I've never had a period because I was born a boy".

But I've also been read in a microsecond by different people at other times.

Marlena,
That was a fantastic compliment, truely deserved, reading your post gave this old dame goosepimpels of excitement, or was it your photo ? Likely it was both. My favorite compliment by a non - date, was when a gentleman easily 20 year younger than myself, asked me if it was alright to take my picture.I was taking a late evening summers stroll in shorts, I said sure and he took about a dozen pics. I hope that taking my picture(s) didnt do damage to his camera. It was the summer of 2006. Its great to be a gurl 24/7 :hugs::love:

Marlena,
I hope that it was because he found me to be a sexy babe, heaven forbid that he wanted to take my picture because he felt that I was a freak ! At the time, by his manner, I felt that he thought I was an attractive mature woman out for fun, he gave no indication that he knew that I was a man !:hugs::love:

I forgot one of the other great compliments. I was at a gay/transgendered bar one night that they were having A drag dance contest. I ended up winning $200 and a couple of the young people told me that I looked just like their math teacher in high school. It was hilarious!

Well, you do look good, Marlena. I've never had that kind of compliment. My best ones have come from SAs that are, of course, trying to make a sale. I believe that some of their positive words are genuine, but for the most part, they want me to feel good enough to make the purchase.

IMO you look very classy Marlena and I can see why you got the complement.
I got one lsat week at the grocery.I was dressed very casual(see profile pic) and there was a young couple ahead of me so I went around them found what I needed and started back down the aisle and the guy kept watching me so I smiled and kept walking.
His wife jabbed him in the side and said its rude to stare.
While in the check out she asked me where I got my boots and leapord top.
I told her and she said I'll bet you get lots of complements on your hair its beautiful I love the style and cut.
I was on cloud nine after that complement from a GG.I'm sure she "read" me but I really don't know if she did to be honest. She didn't act like it and the whole time her husband was seriously checking me out.The guy was kinda creepy IMO but she was nice.

One time when I was out at a shopping centre, a tg friend was getting us some drinks and a guy was waiting in line to be served. I had stood to the side to wait but when the guy was asked what his order was, he turned to me and said "I think that lady was here before me" which was kind of cool

I've had a number of them--but I remember two--one was from a lesbian who was hitting on me in a bar--after telling me how good I looked for about twenty minutes(and she was pretty hot herself), she turned to the bartender and shouted--"Hey!! My wife needs her drink refilled!"

The second time I remember was when I was going into a hotel with a friend--there was an older man standing by the door having a smoke---I was dressed to the nines, short tight black leather minidress with a fitted black leather jacket, matching gloves and stilletto heeled thigh high boots---hair in a dramantic updo and heavy makeup---I strutted across the parking lot and his jaw dropped--when I got to the door, I gave him The Look--part contemptous, part expectant, like he was a servant--and he scrapped and bowed, then opened the door for me---lol--made my night.

I was trying on wedding gowns in Davids late one Saturday afternnon. I was there with a makeup artist who is willing to shop with me on rare occassions. There were two future brides in dressing rooms near me with thier moms. I had narrowed down the ones I liked and the two moms and thier daughters gave my glowing compliments when I put on the sheath. I heard "What a figure she has!" (said to my friend while I was changing). "You are beautiful!" "Wow, try this headpiece." (the mom had one her daughter had just tried on in her hand). I hope the support i got that day is common amongst brides in all such shops. I of course returned the compliments to the other girls! I even asked to try one of thier dresses on in my size. In hind sight i should have found a way to buy that dress even though i had no wedding to go to.

I was sitting in a restaurant not dressed enfemme but I did have my long hair curled and put up high in a pony tail. Two women were seated near me and when they got up to leave one of them came over to me and said ' We were just admiring your hair'. And then she said either 'your hair is perfect for you' or 'you are perfectd for your hair'. I was quite surprised by the commments but thanked her. Afterwards I wondered if she had read me as a CD even though I was not even dressed up.
