View Full Version : Are you left handed?
jacques

hello,
I have read that the left hand side of our brain is more logical, sequential and masculine. It controls the right hand side of our body. The right hand side of our brain is more intuitive and controls the left hand side of our body. So I was wondering if male to female crossdressers are more likely to be left handed or left footed?
best wishes, Jacques.

I'm right handed.
But in grade 5 I cut a finger on my right hand quite badly and had to have a cast for six weeks (or was it a bit longer?) As this was during school, I had to learn to scribble somehow with my left hand, to keep up with my work. It turned out that my writing with my left hand was neater than my writing with my right hand. But I didn't keep up practicing, so I've lost the skill long long ago.

Off topic, but note that lately 50% of the presidents are lefties:
"Six of the 12 chief executives since the end of World War II will have been left-handed: Harry Truman, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, the elder Bush, Clinton and Obama."
Lefties are only about 10% of the general population.

Right-handed but I think I am able to be trained in using the right side of my brain more - God knows there isn't much in the left apart from taxation rules - I know, a pitiful condition but it does keep me employed!!!!
Maybe unrelated - I have a drawing book by Betty Edwards called "Drawing on the right side of the brain". The theory is that during our early years at school, the artistic/creative side is forced out by logic and analysis (mostly by the education system). However, if you take an adult and train them to access the right side of the brain, artistic ability returns big time (a way of looking at things). It starts as typical of a (say) 9 year old or so but it doesn't take long to develop and becomes a switch on/switch off thing. Not sure if its a right/left handed thing though.
Interesting thought (or not!)- is cding for many of us an example of a creative "switch on" from our logical, analytical lives much the same as Edwards promotes in art? What we see as a feminine personality is perhaps accessing another part of what we are? Not in everyone but just a special few!
Just a thought and probably rubbish!!

I was left handed and was forced to write right handed.
Wow, it's been so long, I haven't thought about this in years, until I saw this thread..and brought back some old memories..
Same here, I started off as a predominate lefty, and do remember having a hard time learning how to write well with my right hand at 1st, I was told it was for my own good, why that mattered to anyone, I have no friggin idea, and it never made any sense to me, because my penmanship was better in my left than right, so I was ambidextrous for a while but I gradually stopped using my left hand more as time passed, and now have been right handed for so long, I can't write lefty anymore to save my life.. it now looks more like doctors scribble/scratch for a script. LOL
But I do notice myself reverting back to lefty in other things every now & then..so I think some things just weren't meant to be changed.

Hi Jacquas. I am, both left and right handed. At the age of 5 going to a catholic school in 1947, the nuns tied my left hand to my side am made me become right. I guess you can say I am AC DC. Have to admit I am. I am living with a beautiful woman that loves me this way, I am also lucky to have found her. We are both the same side in cloths 16 and shoes 11, She bought me a wig the same color, and style as her hair so we can go out as sisters. :confused2::404::fs::hf::sw:

I've read so many different theories about left-handedness, I don't know what may or may not be true. It's possible left-handedness may mean you have a disposition for intuition, but whether you develop and explore it, I don't know.
There goes the theory of: Righty Tighty Whitey, Lefty Lucy. :)

While I consider myself I am ambidextrous. I would most certainly also be consider a true Lefty.
Story time:
In first grade my teacher broke several rulers on my left hand. Well dad was an USAF officer and when he saw the bruses he had a fit. Not because of the corrections for using my left hand but for fear My hand would be damaged and then I could not follow him and lean to fly.
Strangely I never did learn to fly. I had an appointment to the USAF academy but go the "no go' because at the time they were not accepting weak eyes (glasses wearers) At the time I did not know that I had weak eyes. I was just ambliopitic (wandering eye).

Lefties are more likely to take part in poles like this one.
As above, most women are right handed also. So, I don't think which hand we favor has anything to do with the gender issue. Or, do you think we've had a recent run of crossdressers in the white house? You can make statistics say anything you want. Just arrange the questions to lead towards your results.

Run and kick a ball - which foot do you use, to hit a target accurately?
Point at an object - which eye controls where you position your finger? (Clue - keep pointing without moving the hand, then close first one eye, then the other.)
Of course, it could also be used to describe your religion (http://www.probertencyclopaedia.com/cgi-bin/res.pl?keyword=Left+Footer&offset=0)... :heehee:

One more for the ambidextrous ones here.
Since I was a child I've always ate the left handed(Fork in the right, knife left), however I can also eat right handed without problems, I just not like to do it. Writing is done by the right hand mainly for practical reasons, but for example with Japanese I found out that I'd actually have a nicer writing if I'd use my left hand.
In games like squash, badminton or tennis I tend to change my hitting hand on the go, if the situation needs it. Basically, I can use any hand for any task, but I've gotten used to use one hand for one task and usually stick to it.

Lefty as well, along with sister & mother. Dad is the oddball in our family.
It's just that we right-handers weren't so attracted to the title of this thread. It's what's called a non-random sample.
I think since people notice lefties more when we do things left-handed and since most things are made for righties, we are more aware of being left handed, more proud of being left-handed and therefore more likely to respond to this thread.
