I can't believe I did it! For all of you gals who are out & about as a matter of course, it was a giant step for me this morning. I've been recovering from prostate surgery and have lately been dressing all day since I have been inside a lot. A few days ago I did my fingernails in a nice sparkly pink polish and I liked it so much I left it on. I've gone out to get the mail in the last 2 days totally en femme. I live in a community of townhomes, so I have a lot of neighbors close by, but many are away at mid-day, so I was reasonably safe. Although I have begun to not care about "safe." So this morning I needed a few things at the drug store and there is a thrift store next to that. So, I double-checked my makeup, screwed up my courage and just went! No problems - the lady in the drug store scarcely glanced at me. Then I spent quite a while in the thrift store and found several tops and some stretch pants. At checkout a very nice little hispanic girl waited on me and engaged me in conversation about the weather and all. I smiled and replied. She commented how tall I am (6'2") and gave me a big (and I think knowing) smile. I just gave her a big smile and wink in return and all was well. It was a great thrill and I am now out of my self-imposed prison, at least to some degree. Only downer is that I have to go see my missus (we live apart and yes, she knows but disapproves) so I have to ditch the nail polish and go drab. Thanks for letting me share a wonderful moment in what has been a not-so-great few weeks.

That's great Donna. Welcome to the freedom of the outside world. I love to hear about more of us tall girls getting out there (I'm 6'4") and I'm sure I get many looks (hopefully they're all "look at that hot, tall girl" but I doubt it :) ).

Keep it up and enjoy now that you know how good fresh air is.

Congratulations Donna! Welcome to girl world!

It really sounds like you had a wonderful day!

Are you sure the salesgirl's smile was conspiritorial? Remember, women smile at each other and talk to each other all the time, whereas winking when it isn't appropriate might be misconstrued.

Be careful and don't rush things after surgery, prostate surgery is one of those things that can feel better long before it has really healed. Forgive me for asking, but was your surgery a TURP? If so, you may find that there are some advantages!

And, if you were on Proscar before, don't let them take it away! It does wonders for your hair!
