Hello, everyone I wanted to know if any of you have already had ffs surgery and how you feel about it? I am 42 years old and have been on hormones I just had my ffs surgery last week nose, chin, lips, lower eye lift and a full face lift. I sometimes feel I can pass well and some have said you are kind-of pretty. But to you feel like your surgery helped you pass and did you feel happier and do you pass any easer? All my life I just said I would like to pass, but the longer am in transition the more I want of it and I just do not want to pass anymore but be taking for a half way pretty woman.

I have not had the surgery, but I have read others comments about passing and they referred to the fact that passing has a lot to do with speech and mannerisms. Having facial surgery can only be a plus, but is not everything. Some have done the HRT; vocal cord surgery; the SRS surgery;Facial surgery all in an attempt to look more feminine.

I had FFS almost a year ago. I was full time for about nine months before the surgery and I seemed to pass alright. After FFS it really takes six months before you are really healed. Then one day you go, "hey I look pretty good". For me it didn't make be beautiful and not having didn't make me feel bad about myself. But I think it has taken a lot of the guy out of my face and that just helps with the whole package. So I'm glad I did it.

If you're interested there's a fair amount of info on my website. Also see Lynn Conway's page: http://members.shaw.ca/terribreeze/FFS.htm

Crystalann,
I haven't had it yet, but plan on having some work done eventually, especially my nose, and some eye work, I may need a face lift if I keep losing the wieght, but the way I look at FSS, it's more about really feeling good about myself when I look in the mirror after it's done and feeling more confident facing the world, it's the confidence you get of finally being yourself & feeling pretty that makes passing easier, of course looking pretty is a huge plus too.

Who did your FFS, and are we ever going to see you??

Terri ,
You have a great site!!, and Thank You so much for sharing it with us..:hugs:

btw, You look vastly different today compared to your old male face which reminded me of Ron Howard for some reason, but your now so beautiful..

Karen, Thanks for your input I had my face done 2 weeks ago here in fla Dr john Leikensonif any would like info please let me know. I am very happy with his work and he does work very well with the m2f clients. I was there on some referrals of friend that had used him, I feel he was up front with me I went into his office not really knowing what other then a face lift and my nose. He did not try to push any work just what he felt I needed to look more female, I asked about other work and was tolled not to spend the money he felt I looked fine, so I feel he is very up front. I just always wanted to pass but if I can make myself pretty and I feel it does make me look better, then money well spent. And I guess it's working I went to one of my customers house that I have not seen in months, she kept looking at me then came out and wanted to know if I was my old self's wife? and then the only way she found out it wasn't was the voice (still working on that) but she took me as female and I was not trying to pass still work as a male, so it really must work? As far as any pictures that will come when I feel I look good, I here I do but you just need to be happy thanks again.

Thanks for the info Crystal,
I would imagine you may still be a bit swollen, but sounds like your customer didn't have a clue who you were, which is awesome..
I would very much be interested in more info , along with what his general prices are if you dont mind.
I would also love to see a before & after shot of you sometime later when your up to it after your all healed, and if you don't want it public, just PM me, I'm like Vegas, what goes to me, stays with me..

:hugs:

I would suggest that FFS by itself is not going to make you pretty or passable. It is just another part of the whole process of transition. If you go in looking like Spencer Tracey you’re not going to come out looking like Katherine Hepburn. The main objective is to remove the male aspects of your face that have developed as the result of years of testosterone poisoning. For me this was boney work in the brow, jaw and chin. I also had rhinoplasty, a brow lift and lip lift.

Mannerisms and voice, as Rayne mentioned, are also part of passing. But you can blow all that away by not dressing appropriately, wearing too much makeup and being loud and aggressive. FFS aside, it’s all about 90% attitude.

… your old male face which reminded me of Ron Howard…

eeeeyikes!!! Am I glad I transitioned!!! :heehee:

Karen and Jess, thanks for the positive feedback.

All the best with your recovery Crystalann
