and I did it. This morning I participated in the local part of the charity walk "Walk a mile in her shoes"! I collected donations and went on the walk with the 4" heels. Boy those are sure easier inside with no sidewalk cracks or stones. It was fun. About 60 or 70 guys showed up to participate, I had a sponsor so
my entry was paid, and I got a brand new pair of red strapped pumps in the bargain. Cool morning!

Good for you honey. You beat me to the posting of my little "walk" also for the same reason.
I got interested and it
Got me to thinking. After all, my Mother was a woman and so is my wife. Somebody should say something, besides I get the chance to walk around in heels. :o
When I got there I asked the chief of campus security, ( who is in the picture with me ) if it would be OK if I wore a skirt. She was happy that I thought of it and told me to go ahead if I was comfortable doing that. ( Didn’t have to tell me twice ).
Funny thing, nobody said a word to me about my clothing or my choice of footwear, except for a few comments about “cute shoes” from some of the girl students, also in the walk. I was totally ignored. Acceptance? Or just not wanting to get too close to that strange “old fella”. Not sure which but at least they weren’t laughing out loud at me.
After I checked in and had gotten permission to wear my skirt, I went back to my car to change. Pulled up skirt over my jeans, then took off the pants. On my way back to the registration table, a young lady asked me for some directions to a particular function hall. Obviously I didn’t have a clue, but I figured that somebody at the table would know, and I mentioned this to her. She said thanks and headed of to get her information. No question about why was I wearing a skirt. I guess college towns are quite open minded.
So,… Now I can change my signature line:
I HAVE WALKED THAT MILE IN HER HEELS

I am proud of both of you! This is a very noble thing to do and you can have fun at the same time. If an event like this was held close to where I live I would participate in it too.

I was actually a bit embarrassed for myself, I couldn't finish the walk with the shoes on. I'm not used to 4" heels, and while my feet were fine, I wore the shoes about an hour and a half before the walk even started, and half way through the muscles that keep my feet from turning over gave out and I was trying to sprain an ankle each step. I had to take them off. Some CD Huh? I told my wife afterwords that I'm going to start practicing in higher heels for next year. I intend to make the GG's envious!
A couple of pictures for ya!

I know the RED shoes are the color of choice for this walk, to draw attention to the feet, sorry but I didn't have any red shoes at the time. Had to wear my funky brown ones. However I was the only "guy" in heels.
kimmy p ... I want to thank you for having posted the information this past Jan and getting me to think about it. I do believe I'll do that again next year.

That is so neat but the best I can do is 3" heels. It would be fun to do this every year.

Damn it looks like you had a lot of fun :D
Why don't things like this happen in the UK? I'd totally do it :D

The nearest walk to me is in September instead of in April, so I've still got lots of time for planning and those red shoes are to die for, sadly.

Someone has to start it. Contact an appropriate charity with the idea. Start the ball rolling.

Great job,
I want the pair with the ankle strap. Always try here to walk a couple of blocks of pavement to increase stability.
Best wishes,
Helen

Killer heels they are.
I know someone, a very ancient resident in here, who would be dead jealous to know that there were for free red shuzzzes in this here world. - Even if it was in the New World  -

Alright, start throwing ideas and suggestions around and I'll see what I can do but I'm not doing it by myself. There's plenty of UK girls here so make yourself known, especially if you've either taken part in stuff like this before or have organised anything similar. I can't promise anything but I'll do what I can.

And that's how you start! Wish I could help, but I'm on the wrong side of the pond in this case.
Though, thanks to this thread I found another walk happening here in Indiana in May which I think I'll go do. A chance to parade around in heels and hose and for a GREAT cause? What a no brainer :)

Kudos to you for your efforts. I plan to do the same very soon. I am for anything that is a legitimate good cause.
