Do you have an item beit an item of clothing/jewellery or whatever that means so much to you and you'll never part with ?
For my own part I have an old white ankle length tierd gypsy style skirt that is special to me and I've worn it to death over the years, nothing special in that really except that it was the first item that my dad paid for....so I guess it was that moment that I realised that he had accepted me, I lost my father 2 years ago and even now that skirt can bring a tear to my eye when I see it hanging in the wardrobe even though it's tatty and falling apart I will never part with it
Anyone else got stuff like that?

My wife's necklaces. My mothers fake pearls. I am always wearing one. I do change them out because she had so many. Some I keep but I can not wear due to their size and my neck size. on the 18th of this month I most likely will wear one of her 'J' necklaces with my 50s outfit. Even if I have to buy a new chain for it. My wife's name is Janet. I will also have on a ring from my mother and a bracelet from Mary (source of my middle name).
There is one Very special necklace that I have yet to wear. It is an Avon 'party sponcer' gift. It is an clear plastic Ice Cube suspended by a silver Iceman's claw tool (gripper?). I don't wear it for fear I will loss the ice cube. I might be able to find another but still her original it can not be replaced. (Have I placed her on a pedestal?)
Yes, I know see that I have many items I like to wear for sentimental reasons. The Friday night of the 17 I might even wear one of Janet's wigs. Daughter (Dark AnGGel) says they are not me but still they are 'of me'.

Years ago, when my wife used to sew, she made me a "night shirt" of a light weight polyester material as a surprise. Not having my exact measurements, but having to sorta "eyeball" it she did a nice job, even if it was a bit short, (only down to mid calf) and the sleeves hung over my fingers. I loved it. Wore it quite often. Still have it, ( although I don't wear it anymore ) Kinda lives in the bottom of my dresser.
Because she took the time to make something special just for me, I don't think I could ever part with it.

I have an ugly dress with glitter. It fits terrible; way too big, no shape.
It's my favourite because my wife gave it to me. It was the first thing she bought for me. It's not special because it was the first thing, it's special because it was bought for me at a time that she didn't have much understanding of CDing or me for that matter. She hated everything about CDing but she thought enough about me to take the time to pick something out. It was like the proverbial olive branch. We've come a long way since those days!

My Dad's ring... he died a few years back... I sometimes wear it on a chain. Oh, I cherish every gift I'm given from jewellery to clothing... but give me a bear... a simple teddy bear and it's total lurve :)

I have a little dress jacket I wore when I was 1 year old. It survived a house fire in which I lost almost everything else. It had soot all over it and my wife one day threw it out, not knowing what it was. I found it in the trash by coincidence when the trash was already curbside. I then took it to the cleaners. The cleaners lost it. I was so sad. Two years later the owner of the cleaners called me. She was a Chinese woman that did not speak English. I could not understand her and hung up. But I traced the phone number and found it to belong to these cleaners. I rushed there and she had my little jacket. I looked so good after cleaning! It is now the only drab piece of clothing in my femme closet.

My kids' ID labels from when they were born. I come across them every so often when I'm looking for something else. That always makes me stop and think back...

SHOES of course.. I've had a pair of shoes that were set to be thrown away a few years ago.. I had them set to go, then something happened and I decided not to toss them.. forward to last friday and I've decided that I can no longer buy shoes without tossing a pair so the new shoes can take their place (odd bordering on weird behavior I know) and I wear my booties into the Payless where I buy most of my shoes and purchase a pair of shoes to commemorate this glorious occasion.. and knowing I have to toss a pair of shoes and these black platforms are on the launching pad, the same shoes that have survived three other near disposal are really gonna be given the go for sure this time.. these black platforms that have been worn quite a lot and are really showing their age.. these platforms... didn't get the boot yet again.. they are developing sentimental value now.. they wear fine.. I'll wear them till they break completely..

Hey Deb!
I have a favorite item but unlike most it is not something to wear but a lovely enameled pot with beautiful floral designs on the sides and lid. It broke my heart when I dropped the lid and chipped the enamel. I can't even get a replacement. It is a small pot with a two cup capacity and I can't find one that small. One day when the bottom falls out I will have to retire it.

My Dad's ring... he died a few years back... I sometimes wear it on a chain.
You've got to watch out for those rings. I was given a beautiful one myself some time back, only to later discover it was a source of great EVIL: something that compelled me to embark upon a long and exceedingly tedious QUEST (one in which I was accompanied by the obligatory band of suitably weird companions*) to the Cracks of Doom, into which I did cast said accursed piece of jewellery.
Um yes. Seriously, I have at least one item of clothing that I don't think I'll ever throw out: a pair of silver PVC pants that I wore pretty much to death. One of the last times I wore them was back in 2002, when I included them in my luggage for a trip to the States I took back then. I wore them extensively around such locations as LA, Austin and San Antonio, and they evoked some interesting reactions at times!
*Not one of which, I've resolved, will be played by that annoying little TWAT Elijah Wood when I finally commit the tale of my grand adventure to paper, and have the resultant bestselling novel turned into an over-hyped, overrated Hollywood blockbuster.

For me, I have a few items of my dad's. He died in '99 of brain cancer. Randomly I'll wear this one necklace he used to wear all the time. It has a pewter charm of St. Christoper on it (I wear it even though I'm not real religious). I also have a football jersey that I gave him before and that I kept after he passed away. The other most meaningful thing that I have and will never get rid of is the flag that was draped over his casket at the funeral. I was a pall bearer for it.
