Hi
A few weeks ago I posted that my wife said it would be OK with her if I started hormones. She really is Great.
Sorry for the delay in updating.
So I go and see my doctor and told him he did not batt an eyelid he was very good and asked if i would make another appointment for 30 mins so he could talk to me in depth because the normal 5 mins would not be enough.
5 days later i go back and he was very good at reasuring me that i was not alone and he had some experiance in this area. he said i would need to see a therepist about this which is normal. So all this was made me feel very at ease.
He then took my blood preasure and this is when all the problems started.
My blood presure was very high it was 210/135 he said higher than nerves would make it. so to cut this a bit shorter I had to wear a blood presure monitor for 24 hrs to get an average this was 190/115 so now I am on blood presure tablets to control this.
I also had a blood test to check everything was OK and its not:sad::sad:
i have polycithemea which is thick blood caused by to many red blood cells I had to have a bone marrow test to see if it was secondary or primary. Secondary being caused by over weight or smoking or primary caused by me and yes it is primary.
The treatment is simple I have a pint of blood drawn every 6 weeks for the rest of my life.:sad::sad:
All this may stop me from having hormones. But it will not stop me from being ME. I have already had a full body wax in stages because it does HURT, my wife lied to me  and i have an appointment to start lazer treatment on my facial hair no doubt that this will be painfull:heehee:
The doc said I should lose about 30lbs as this will help with my blood presure so now I am on a diet so far lost 6lbs over 4 weeks long way to go yet but I will get there.
Sorry for the doom and gloom but I will keep looking for that rainbow.

Sandie,
That is unfortunate, but on the bright side, at least your doctor caught this problem before it became much worse.
I learned that I have diabetes in a similar fashion. I wasn't happy about it at the time, but now I appreciate that it was found so early and I could treat it.

Sorry to hear that. But finding out that your blood pressure is that high is a blessing. I am not a doc, but I am fairly sure that at 210/135 we were close to losing you. Please take care of yourself.

aww hun sorry for the bad news, but hey losing weight will help with the blood pressure probs, so that is good.
Did your Doc say that this would stop you from having hormones or id it just an assumption you have made because of all the other probs?

It may be that wanting to go on hormones may have saved your life, even if you never get to go on hormones. Life is strange, isn't it. :)

Sandie, I don't know what your total medical condition is but you approached the doctor with a question that for most of us would find to be enormously stressful. I'm thinking your BP was in part affected by this very delicate revelation of your self. My SO has elevated BP at times. I can tell just talking to her if she has an elevated BP or not because of the day's experience and the amount of stress she has been subjected to. Her systolic can easily be elevated 60-70 points just because her mind/body has been subjected to a different stress level.

Sorry to hear the bad news, however I have to agree with Crysten, this could very well have shaved your life. Good luck.

You have got to get your bloodpressure under control first, Dear. 210/135
is way too high !!! Get that under control and then start hormones.
My doctor gets upset if my BP is 140/80 !

Sorry to hear about that but you found a prob and not you can donate blood and save people's lives. The waxing part, Don't wine like a man girl I have gotten a full body wax all at the same time and I almost fell a sleep while she was waxing me I doe's not hurt at all. For me that is, But the Lazar hurts like a son of a bitch. On the face is very tender for men I understand, Just as bad as the bikini zone is for women is. It's like you take a elastic band and snap in or 3000 time on you face and then it's red and tender for some time but all people have differance tolerances. I have a very high pain tolerance and I find the laser hurts . I had my 5 treatment on monday and it did not hurt half as much to the point where I could shave the next day and go out as Christina with no prob. With laser your tolf not to shave for 4 or 5 days cuz of the trauma your skin went through. I beard has bald spots and is about half as thick as it was. Plus I had thought to keep my mustache but then this last time to just get rid of it and here we go again it hurt all over again , but she slowed it down so it was easier to handle. On the males face it is the worse. I hope I did not scare you cuz I only lasts 30 min and when we are done not more beard to have to hide so that means less makeup and a more fem look. I can't wait. Good like hun. HUGGS :hugs: :canada:

I have had high blood pressure for a long time. I take 3 pills a day for it. The good news is that you will be okay with the medicine. Hopefully you can start the HRT. I know you will have to be carefull because spiro will lower your blood pressure. You should ask if you can take that as one of your BP meds.

If it helps you lose weight, that's a plus. Diet has a huge effect on blood pressure. I would suggest the book, "The China Study" for an exhaustive look at diet and how it effects the heart (and other body systems). Very grounded material.
Good luck with your journey here on planet Earth. You only get one body.
