My wig has been cleaned with the appropriate shampoo and conditioner from the wig shop, and also dried naturally (rather than with a hairdryer).

There are plenty of flyaway hairs. I assume this is because it has no natural oils to keep them down. Is there are leave in conditioner, or some trick to getting these hairs manageable?

Natasha, never ever put a hairdryer near your wig, damage is inevitable, also when washing use only cool water and pat the wig dry in a towel do not rub dry as this will cause static to build up and the hair wiil be quite unmanageable, allow to dry naturally on a wig stand, rinsing the wig in a little fabric softener e.g. a spoonful to 5 litres water will help, do not rinse the conditioner out, when dry applying a fine mist spray of wig lustre works wonders, also try a fine mist spray of water applied lightly before styling, lastly dont overbrush your wig most girls just finger their hair into position

Washing & Caring Tips
By properly caring for your wig, you will extend the life of your wig. Having more than one wig is recommended not only for different hairstyles, but also to allow the proper time for cleaning and drying your wig. We recommend that you wash your wig after every 12-15 wearings. However, depending on perspiration, body oils, pollution and styling product build-up, you may want to wash your wig more frequently. Simply follow these six steps and you'll be on your way to make an impression...

Step 1: Gently comb out any tangles using your fingers or a wide-toothed wig comb. Remember always start at the ends working your way up. DO NOT USE A BRUSH.

Step 2: Fill a sink with clean cool water and pour one capful of shampoo specially formulated for synthetic hair into the sink. Place the wig in the sink and gently agitate. Let soak for five minutes. Any makeup stains can be removed with a soft toothbrush.

Step 3: Remove the wig from the sink and drain the soapy water. Then refill the sink with clean cool water and rinse your wig gently until all the shampoo is removed.

Step 4: Remove the wig from the sink and refill the sink with clean cool water and add one capful of conditioner specially formulated for synthetic hair. Place the wig in the water and gently agitate for 1-2 minutes. Remove the wig from the sink (do not rinse), place it on a clean towel, and blot gently. If your conditioner has a pump spray, simply spray your wig thoroughly with conditioner, place on a clean towel and blot gently. DO NOT RUB, WRING OR TWIST YOUR WIG.

Step 5: Gently comb out any tangles. Long styles should be put back in their original hairnet and placed upside down on a wig stand to dry. Straight or shorter styles do not need a hairnet and should be placed on a wig stand right side up. DO NOT BRUSH THE WIG UNTIL IT IS COMPLETELY DRY.

Step 6: Once dry, simply style like before, and it's ready for more wearings.

Expert Styling Tips

Be sure to only use styling tools specially made for wigs such as a wig styling comb, wig brush or wig pic comb. CAUTION: Never use heated styling tools on your wig or expose your wig to excess sources of heat such as: hair dryers, curling irons, open ovens, boiling water, barbecue grills and even some cigarette lighters, because the heat will damage the fibers.

Curly Styles - Using your fingertips is best for curly styles. You can also lightly comb the wig with a wide-toothed styling comb. A brush is not recommended since it will remove the original curls.

Soft Waves - If your wig has gentle waves or a light curl, you can use a wig brush or a wig styling comb to style.

Straight Styles - Use a wig brush or a wig styling comb, starting at the ends and working your way up. These styles are quick and easy to manage.

Shoulder Length or Longer Styles - Use a wig styling comb to style.

Additional Tips

At the end of the day after each wearing, be sure to spray the ends of your wig with a conditioner formulated for synthetic hair and gently remove tangles with a wig styling comb or your fingertips. Allow to dry overnight on a wig stand or hair spray canister.

Many styles have bangs and it's great to try combing them on or off the face for different looks.

For a great wet look, simply mist your wig with clean cool water while gently shaking.

To tone down the volume of your wig, mist your wig with clean cool water and style with a wig styling comb or your fingertips. Place it on a wig stand or hair spray canister and let dry in place.

If you've chosen a wig in a shade lighter or darker than your own hair color, you'll love the various natural colorations. Try brushing it in different directions to see the beautiful built-in highlights and wear it around in natural sunlight.

Use wig spray specially formulated for synthetic hair to hold your style in place. We carry a full line of wig care and styling products
