I know some of us were lucky when were CD when were younger our mom’s or family members knew and accepted it.
I was wondering if any one did any girly things with Mom when growing up? When my mom finally discovered and accepted I was a CD things changed and for the better. We went from doing mother son things to mother daughter things, aside from exercising with her and being able to dress in women’s clothing when we exercised. I went shopping with her, we went to the salon. Anytime before she had a fight we always did our toe nails together while watching exercise videos and just talking. Those were fun times!!

When I was very small -- not more than three or four -- my mom used to put lipstick and nail polish on me when she was doing her own makeup. We would sometimes go out to visit some of her friends with me presenting this way.
When I was nine, she let me get my ears pierced.
At twelve, she took me to a big department store downtown and bought me my first pair of heels. I was also wearing earrings, nail polish, lipstick, mascara and pantyhose. We must have been quite the topic of conversation among the SAs afterwards!
Mom sort of lost interest, or perhaps was a little embarrassed by it all, after I reached 13 or so and puberty set in. I continued to wear earrings all the time, and heels and hosiery when I could, but she didn't participate or encourage me after that, and I was on my own to buy my femme stuff.

When I was little this red plastic toy vacuum cleaner was my favorite plaything. I'd follow my mom around for hours pretending to clean behind her. I guess it was our "girly bonding" thing to do :-)

We had a huge garden. I learned from my mother how to do home canning. I carry that activity on today. Can't beat the flavor of those veggies and jellies.
She also showed me how to sew, both by hand and machine.
She definitely did not accept my dressing.

My mother had five kids, 4 boys and one girl, so we all learned to cook, clean and sew. She didn't spend as much time with us boys as my sister but there was a feeling she wanted all of us to be self relient when we left home as young adults. I even learned how to knit but never quite mastered it. My wife helped me refine those lessons.

Mom taught me how to use a sewing machine and read patterns. I made Native American costumes for my Scout dance troupe.
