Hi, I was wondering how does one find a gender therapist in your own location. Believe it or not, I did look in the yellow pages. I don't want to transition, but I'd like to discuss a few things about my love for cross dressing. Thanks...BJ

Hi, Billijo -- I found my therapist by doing a Google search for one. But you can also try this link below:

Good luck! :)

You might not want to transistion but try seaching for keywords like indentity counciler, or life transistion. That is how I found mine. she had GBLT and gender issues on her webpage. Sometimes though the best way is though other therpists in your area sometimes your insurance company can locate one by specialty. It took me a little while up here in New Enalgand but I am sure you will find a good one :-)

Hi BJ,
Try the Transgender Michigan Website: http://www.transgendermichigan.org/

I found a great therapist there. Unfortunately she is on the east side.

Good Luck!

Mine was from a recommendation from my old therapist ( who I would love to continue with, but insurance is gone and the price way too high). In looking in my yellow pages, I did see a couple that list gender issues as a specialty. Another way would be to find a local TG or GLBT group and ask around. OR, go "backwards", call the local endocrinologists and ask who they like to work with. Hmm.... just off the top of my head, also thought of asking your local Crisis line folks.

Mine was recommended by a therapist I was seeing for other issues. When I told him I wanted to talk about my gender issue he told me he didn't feel qualified and referred me to one at the University of Minnesota. If you're near one of the Universities with a teaching hospital it may be a good place to check.
