A little while back, I posted a request in the "out and about" section looking for suggested bars in New Orleans, as my wife and I were about to go there for our anniversary. Unfortunately no one responded. I did get a recommendation from someone that I chat with. So here's what happened (warning...this is a little long):

I went out about a month before and bought a couple of dresses and new pairs of heels and was really excited for the trip. I checked my regular suitcase on the plane and for my carry on, I had a gym bag with both pairs of my heels (being that they weren't cheap ones), two wigs (I figured I'd decide which one to wear later), and my breast forms... along with another male outfit in case my suitcase was lost. Everything went completely smooth at the airport. I did the same thing both ways- nothing overly exciting there.

We had planned on going out Saturday night, so that afternoon, I went in and shaved completely smooth and painted my toenails a bright pink, being that I planned on wearing my Jessica Simpson silver strappy 4 1/2" sandals to the club. We did get a little bit of a late start on dinner (I was in male mode) and decided to take a walk up to the bar Le Roundup and see if we could see in- scouting mission. This was around 10:00 and Bourbon St. was in full groove at the time.

We thought to do a scouting mission, because my concern was that we'd dress and everything and get to the club and that it would be completely lame. By the time we walked past the place it was around 10:15. We looked in the window and it was empty, with the exception of about 5 really creepy looking guys sitting around the bar. Needless to say, we decided that I wasn't going to dress that night and we ended up going to the casino and playing blackjack and slots for HOURS.

My wife and I did have a great time for the 4 days we were in New Orleans, but I didn't dress. It wasn't an overly huge loss for me, as we're going to be going out very soon now that we're back home. I was definitely disappointed that the bar Le Roundup turned out to be lame. I was told that a lot really hot tgirls go there. Honestly I didn't notice any walking around the French Quarter while we were there either. Maybe there were gals around, but just blended in. Oh well, like I said, we had a great time in NOLA. I already miss the food!!

Yeah!! Maybe a little disappointing but ya know..... having a good time with your SO always a treat and is independent of the clothes you wear!! In my humble opinion.

Absolutely!! We always have a lot of fun when we take trips together. It was a wonderful place to spend our 1 yr wedding anniversary together.

My wife hated it!! but my dad lived there out on Cannal St, towards Ponchatrain.... So I spent quite a few summers there.... early teens... take the trolley downtown and try to sneak into the girlie clubs in the French Quarters.... with my step-brothers.... Never got to go to the drag shows but saw a lot of flyers for them.....

Happy Anniversary!

It sounds like you and your wife are able to have fun together wherever you go, and that's the really important part.

Have been to New Orleans several times and have many friends from that area. As far as I'm concerned, the food is far and away the best part. Even before Katrina, Bourbon Street was mostly drunks and druggies; not worth the bother.

I walked by Le Roundup as well (in drab) when I was in Nola a year ago, actually went in for a few seconds (somewhere 10-11 pm Sat night), determined that all the girls were "working" as best as I could tell, and left. There are just too many interesting place in Nola to even considering going back to that bar.

I don't know why but a lot of the T-girls in NO don't get out til midnight. Heck, even here in Chattanooga when they have get togethers they wait til 10 or 11 to start arriving.

Guess I'm getting old. Midnight and I'm looking to crash someplace.
