Just got off the phone with my mom (86) and talked to her while in my enFemme mode. I've NEVER done this before. If she calls and I'm dressed, I let the call go to voice mail. This time I just decided to pick up the call. Felt a little wierd. I have no idea how she would react if I told her, but she's a very understanding mom and after an initial shock, I'm sure she wouldn't give it another thought. I'm not gooing to test the waters tho!!! :) Just thought I'd share with everyone.

Good on you, picking up the phone.
Conversations like that are always painful for me, as I struggle not to give anything away. . . my family would go apesh*t. For example, I dressed to go out for my birthday with some of my family. I ended up being miserable all evening as I struggled to act like a girl and not do anything to overtly "masculine".
If you think she'd be okay with it, you really ought to tell her. Break it to her in tiny bits, if you gotta, but at least let her know. If she seems to be upset by one bit of the story, just don't tell her anything further. I don't want you to end up regretting not having let her know.

I've done that and it does feel a bit odd because you know she is going to ask what the clicking noise is as your earings knock on the handset. ;-)
And you have to 'act' like the male person you mom knows... The first questiion my mom asks is what are you doing...oh not much, just washed my hair, did my nails, etc etc...

I've had a feeling like that a few times when I've been dressed and on the phone--I think that it's funny more than weird, but maybe it's funny-weird. I wish, by the way, that I had told my mom. Unfortunately she has already passed away some time ago, and I don't think that she would have understood but I believe that she would have accepted my CDing--once she was reminded that she was probably involved in getting me started.

Yep, the first question moms ask...so, what are you doing? I thought to myself, hmmmm, if she only knew. Instead, I come back with...oh nothing much, just working on the computer! :) I also found myself playing with my hair as we talked!!!

The few times that I have talked on the phone while I was fully dressed as a woman, I would remove the clip on earring before or during the conservation as I have seen some women do.

I've talked to my mom while dressed many times. I love to sit and chat with her on the phone while playing with my hair. I just wish I had the gutts to tell her.

Talking to other humans through an non-visual means, such as the telephone, is a minor first step in the communication/coming out process. For the last few years, I have appeared femininely when meeting my overly conservative parents. They aren't happy about it, but it's still better than being closeted.

The first time talking on the phone while femme was certainly a different feeling. Over time though I have grown acustomed to it though. It has just become a natural part of me, since I underdress 24/7.

I found that at first, talking on the phone while dressed (or even under dressed) was a weird experience, but I'm used to it now. The phone is an audio device, and until I have a video phone (yikes!! - imagine the potential...) I won't be concerned.
