Hosiery has been for a long time an essential part of my lingerie wardrobe. I simply adore the look and especially the feel of wearing nylon hosiery on my legs. My initial interest in women's hosiery occurred over forty years ago when I watched my wife get dressed in the morning. Whatever kind of hose she was putting on captivated me as they looked so sensuous, soft and sexy. The female leg in stockings really turns me on!

It wasn't too long until I began to check out the wastebaskets in our bedroom to see whether my wife had discarded her garter stockings, thigh highs or pantyhose. If she had, I always retrieved them and tried them on. Sometimes to my delight, the fit wasn't too bad and I hid them in my chest of drawers so that I could wear them with a pair of her panties and possibly one of her bras and garter belts.

After awhile, I decided to obtain my own hosiery collection. Because she was shorter and weighed less than I did, I could rarely wear her pantyhose comfortably and her garter stockings either didn't match or had terrible runs in them. Not only that, when I tried on her garter belt, it drooped badly or was too small for my waist. Consequently, I started to visit department stores and learned about hosiery sizing. Slowly but surely I purchased various kinds of hosiery for myself. Currently I have some VS and Hanes pantyhose, Pretty Polly and Hanes thigh highs and Berkshire sheer garter stockings. I love them all and select the type of hose of the day depending upon what I think will look best with the lingerie outfit that I am wearing that particular day.

I am curious what your experiences have been when you decided to buy and wear hosiery. I would also like to know if you prefer to wear one of the three types of hosiery rather than the other two. As for myself, my longtime favorite is sheer (15 denier or less) nylon garter stockings. When I run my fingers up and down my hose encased legs, the sensation is absolutely divine. I also love to wear lace top thigh highs and sheer to waist pantyhose. All three kinds make me feel and look sexy. What are your opinions?

I love the sexyness of garters/stockings, which got my vote.

I usually wear pantyhose, however. I finally found some hol-ups that held up on their own (after loosing 50+ poulds :) ), but have yet to find them as appealing as stockings or pantyhose.

I voted thigh highs simply because I don't have the hips to suitably wear a garter belt. In winter months, I tend to wear pantyhose more often, but that is mostly for the added insulation under my jeans.

It depends on the weather, in winter I wear pantyhose most of the time, and I can find very nice and cute ones, printed or with special lace shape.
Rest of the year I wear light stockings, to give my legs a smooth and/or bright finish.

In the evenings when we both watch TV and I'm stretched out on the settee, I have to be on my guard in case my trouser leg rolls up accidentally and exposes my hosiery. :D

Count me among the garter girls - most of the time when I dress femme, it's with a open bottom girdle or other body shaper holding up stockings, either Hanes sandalfoot or National RHT.

I have a few pairs of pantyhose, mostly fishnets, one fancy designer pair (gift from my wife) that's white and pink floral, a a pair or 2 of plain beige that I wear under them for certain outfits.

I have a few pairs of thigh highs, for a bit of variety.

Never cared for thigh highs or garters. Tights and pantyhose. Depending on circumstances, I'll wear hose under my jeans or under my suit. I have not done so in some time, because I have not been in an environment that allowed me to feel comfortable or sexy.
I can't recall a time when I did not wear them. I remember as a kid borrowing my older sisters tights if I had to wear scratchy, itchy woolen trousers.
Depending on my mood, I choose super sheer pantyhose or sometimes thick dancewear/skating tights.

Gartrbelts don't fit quite right and I'm afraid they'll show. Panty hose got my vote since it is the easiest to buy, keeps you warm in winter and is nice and smoothing. Also I have bad knees and I notice that the support p/h helps me get through the day.

I mostly wear thigh highs. I'm not sure why -- they feel more sensual, I guess. I like putting them on, esp. the ones with lace at the top. I have some stockings as well, but I don't even own a garter belt. But I'm also a hockey player, and we always wear garter belts to keep our socks up under our uniforms, so they're not THAT exciting to me.

Personally, I don't like sheer nylons. I need opaque (preferably cotton -- it's really $&@$^&* cold here in NY). I also much prefer a non-shiny finish. I'm a pretty muted, low-key gal, I guess.

A lot of you girls have MUCH more variety than I do! I feel like I need a pair of fishnets now...

I agree that stockings and garters are the sexiest, but I've found them difficult to put on. As for thigh-highs, well, I like the feel of them, but they won't stay up, and go sliding down my legs. (Any recommendations of a brand that will stay put?) So, I stick with pantyhose. Besides, with the ultra-minis I sometimes I wear (and I don't want the tops of my stockings to show), pantyhose are the only way to go.

Pantyhose/tights, I try to buy black if possible, as I find it is easier to coordinate black then any other colour.

I like the 'tightness' the tights/pantyhose offers. It envelops half your body in that sheer smooth feeling, which to me feels great.

Hanes Silk Reflections. They are silky and sheer, yet give good coverage. The one problem with them is length. They are a bit on the short side and don't offer length sizing... S,M,L.

Nylons with built in garters and belt - I'll ware most anywhere, especially under drab. Its hard to stand in the mens room with out an opening. especially on a construction site with a porta jon - who wants to sit in one of those!

Regular nylons when I dress en-fem it helps tunk it and I love the contol slimming top.

Thigh Highs - with a skirt when I want to play when dressed en-fem or be ****ty. I was working at a job site one day and looked down and my white thigh high lace was sitting on top of my work boot. OOPS! that was the last time for thigh highs at work. (I put a run in them and I wondered who else saw them)

I'm for pantyhose.

They keep 'everything' tucked in nicely, provide a smooth tummy/bottom shape and maintain the smooth look from toes to belly-button.

They are generally easier to wear during a fulll active day and can help keep the warmth in during Winter.

Plus there are more of them on the shelves than 'fancy' hose, so more choice in styles & colour and generally cheaper.

No one has mentioned body stockings yet! Then again they weren't in the poll were they? I had a pair once, but they didn't do much for me for some reason???

I just think garters are more sexy. I like the way the straps on a garter belt feel when going upstairs. Just wish more of them had real metal garters instead of the plastic cheapies.

FWIW I have on a new pair of Just My Size Panty Hose as I write this. Nice but like garters when I really feel sexy.

I absolutely love garted nylon stockings. However, most garter belts only have plastic garters which don't grip well. Additionally, i's difficult to find stockings long enough for tall girls--5'9"-5'10". Thigh-highs are ok. But as a matter of practicality and ease, I wear pantyhose most of the time now and really enjoy them. Also, it's easier to find a greater array of sheerness and colors with pantyhose than you can find with stockings. I never thought this day would come, but this gal has to cast her overall vote for... pantyhose.

I prefer a garter belt and stockings. I feel more feminine and sexy when wearing a pretty lace garter belt. I agree with Kath about the quality. The cheap plastic kind are more trouble than they’re worth. I have two made by Felina (http://felina.com) that have the metal clasps. They're great.

Pantyhose all the way. Hanes Silk Reflections to be specific. I have one garter belt but it tends to fall down and until I can find a garter belt I like, I'm a bit turned off to stockings, although I LOVE the way they look.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned much on these forums is Peavey or Tamarra Hoisery, which is what Hooter's Restuarants use. I bought a pair of sheer to waist and found them very stretchy, comfortable, but they itch a bit. No where near as silky as Hanes. They just don't make me feel as sexy as my Silk Reflections ;)

To Sidney Girl; the only time I have trouble with stay-ups is when I haven't shaved my legs. If shaving your legs is a problem then just shave your thighs and you should be able to wear with confidence.

Just pantyhose for me thank you. I like to wear them without panties. The only drawback is that I have to wear two pairs to hide my hairy legs since I can't shave my legs. This also helps me tuck my 'thing' nicely , though.

I love stockings, with garter belts, merrywindows, corsets or a gartered skirt. Stockings are increasingly difficult to find in stores though. I was at Dillards today and the salesgirl working the pantyhose section of the store didn't understand what I meant by stockings. First she asked me "regular pantyhose?" I said "No, the kind that have to be gartered." She said, oh...let me look. She looked around almost every aisle and then said she was going to go ask someone. Meanwhile, I found them. Thigh-highs every day under my slacks at work. 15D stockings usually when I'm fully dressed. Thigh-highs are so practical, if one in each of 2 pair gets a run you still have a pair. Not so with pantyhose. Thigh-highs stay up if you get them up very near the top of your legs. And the more you pay for them the less they stay up is my experience

Hmmm, let's see...I think garters and stockings are so sexy. I love to wear them when going to a party or out to dinner. I like to look down and see the outline of the garters under my jeans. They feel so sensuous as you walk as well. But, I also really love thigh highs too. They seem more practical than garters/hose and also give me a very erotic feeling when I caress the lace tops thru my pants. Both stockings and thigh highs look good in the mirror, lol. I've never liked pantyhose on GGs or on me either. There's just something too restrictive and unappealing in them to me; maybe too utilitarian for my tastes. ps: There have been a couple good tips for wearing thigh highs so far; keep your legs well shaven and wear them as high up your legs as possible to help them stay up.

btw: The silicone on the stay up elastic may have caused a rash on me too. It seems that since the weather turned hot here in Texas, I haven't worn hose at all much and the rash on my legs in that area has gone away. Coincidence? Maybe so , maybe no, lol O

My first experience of dressing came after I found a pair of my mother's pastel blue sheer nylon panties drying in the bathroom. I was about 4 or 5. I was caught of course but from that day the dye was cast. Mum always dried her stockings in the bathroom too. As the next few years went by I progressed from borrowing her panties to trying on a pair of stockings. As I said in one of my aforementioned posts, it's pantyhose for me. I just love the feel from my waist down to my toes. I get such a rush wearing pantyhose. They are like a second skin to me. I enjoy wearing pantyhose more that any other type of femme clothing.
I usually get my pantyhose from different websites, but I went to Wal-mart and came across a pair of sheer energy suntan size Q+. I thought I would give these a try. I was quite surprised how they fit. No struggling to pull these pantyhose up my 41" long legs.

Nylons with garter belts (for me). Sheer to opaque, seamed in ultra special occasions...and real silk if humongous amounts of cash matirialised in my lifetime!

My garters are the type that stay in place (non-spandex) without slowly sliding down (aaaannnoying!!). They also help in enhancing the "hour-glass" shape. Used with below and above the knee skirts, as well as low and medium-heeled pumps. Tight-waisted arrangements usual.

In the heart of Somerset in England we just adore wearing stockings :rolleyes: and suspenders. Hold ups are very handy and look good on a girl, but pantyhose looks and feels so nice. (COLOR=DarkGreen)
