I know there's another "comment from my daughter" thread, but I didn't want to threadjack.

My daughter is five. Sometimes in the mornings when I'm shaving my face (usually electric shaver) she asks if she can help. I hand her the norelco, and she gamely tries. She's actually getting better at it.

Anyways, the other day we were doing this and she asked me why I shave. I responded "Well first, mommy likes it better when I shave. Second, lots of men shave their face. Women don't have to usually, but they often shave their armpits and legs"

Then she said, (giggling while saying it) "I want you to shave your legs!" She kept coming back to that during the day.

During the winter, I usually do have clean shaved legs. My wife is fine with this. During the summer, I let the forest grow in. My daughter has not seen my legs without hair since she was an infant.

Recently, my wife (without prompting) told me it was fine with her if I shaved my legs during the summer months.

Now it's a matter of convincing myself that I won't look strange with hairy arms and hairless legs. Though, I have to say I've been looking at men's legs of late and have noted to myself that hairy legs really do not look very good on anyone. Yet, almost all men have hairy legs. Stupid society.

Go for it! Nothing wrong with shaving your legs. I shaved mine because my youngest had a habit of grabbing clumps of hair from there. Reactionary and there were probably better ways to stop her...but don't regret it. It's a lot mroe comfortable and looks far better.

My younger one has pulled at the hairs on occasion too. Wow does that hurt!

I, too, have shaved my legs for years now. I think that you might be overstating the number of men who have hairy legs and arms. It's not that uncommon for men to shave their legs and there are lots of men with very light hair on their arms and legs.

Well then Julie you'll just have to shave your arms too :)

When I first started shaving mine over a year ago I was so nervous... I'd been shaving my legs for a couple years, but I couldn't hide that my arms were shaved.

Nobody really cared... my sister brought it up only to say that her husband shaved his wrists occasionally and she didn't understand why, I said I do it because I don't like body hair - she said that's what her husband said too. Not sure if she was fishing or if he really does shave occasionally...

Enjoy!

Stupid society

Let your girl shave your legs. She will like it a lot and the bonding will be to her advantage.

I shave my body from the neck to the toes. The only part that i left intact are my arms because they are shown more regularly. Perhaps sometime i will remove that hair too, but for now, i'm too scared.

5 year olds! Mine is around that age and the other day she was looking at my legs and arms and pulling on the hair a little. We didn't talk about it, but I could tell she was curious and was about to pull hard just for fun, so I distracted her.

Funny as it is when my cousin who played pro football use to shave his legs I asked why and he told me because of cuts, When I played in High School the coach told us and we laughed but he told us the same reasoning, I like some of the other Ladies notice a lot of athletes shave their legs for basically the same reason. Regarding the arm hair thing. It drives me CRAZY, so I use a trimmer and just thin it out. Someone suggested dying it blonde, and i'm planning on trying it. Also it was suggested to me a while ago to make gradual changes and noone will notice. (Been trimming back the eyebrows more and more.) Just can't stand the thought of having to keep up the arm shaving thing, on a rotation system as it is!

Hi, I started trimming with the electric trimmer with the 1/4" comb. now I keep all body hair very short. And some times when I need to shave my legs and arms I simply do it, no body has said some thing to me.... Well once my wife ask me why I did it and I told her it was a test and ask her opinion, she was ok with it, so now I do as I please.
If you want to do it just go gradually, may be no one will notice.
Lucy.

I don't see the problem with shaving. 99 % of the people who see it won't care and the 1 % who do might say something bet who Care's what they think. If a guy you don't know says hay you shaved your legs, why would you do that, just tell him you crossdress and watch he shut up and think a great big thought and watch him leave. LOL it's so much fun.

You see I have long acrylic painted nails 24/7. And for some reason the only time men will comment on them is when there bright PINK, like they are now. I just tell them I am CD hear me roar. If they think I am joking like some have I show them some pics. LOL it's very funny to see the double takes. Most and interested and ask why when etc. some leave it and go. I have had no one call me a name.

I drive truck all over North America and no prob anywhere.

It's also fun to see the see my nails for the first time and count how many times they steel a look at them . I thing the highest count to date is about 30 times.

So don't worries about what people think if they don't like or think your weird for that then they are the kind of people I never want as friends cuz, they judge people on there first sight and not on the person themselves.

Just my :2c:

For me, this would be akin to letting some of the fields go fallow for a while. :)

I keep my legs shaved all the time with no problems. I play golf 2-3 time a week with no comments from anyone. I'm a retired professional ocean lifeguard in S. Calif. and have constant contact with current guards, police and fire personel. No comments from any one. All my family and friends see me with shaved legs with no comments, other than a few that know I dress and they complement me on my legs. In today's society men with shaved legs are a non issue. Go for it.

Shave them girl! No one has ever even asked me about my legs. It's a non issue. I also epilate my chest and back (my wife does my back) and really like the smooth look. My wife likes my smooth body also. I don't shave my arms, but I do trim them so the hair isn't so obnoxious.

Ah the innocence of a 5 year old. Sounds like you have a wonderful family Julie. Oh, and go ahead and shave. It's no biggie and it's way more comfortable. No one has ever said anything about my shaved legs and arms and as long as your wife is OK with it, why not!!
