Anyone ever get caught by your unknowing spouse when she found the computer files that you forgot to delete? This happened to me. She called me upstairs and had onscreen one of my Kathielynne photos (the one in my avatar). She didn't recognize me and wondered why I had a file with another woman's pictures. She thought I was having an afair. It was then that I fessed up and told my life story (the usual stuff). It didn't work out real well.

Ouch. No, my wife has not found my rather extensive photo files. If she did, I'd likely have to exercise my CPR talents on her. I keep my computer profile password protected for that and for other reasons. The biggest two reasons are that first of all, my files are my own business, no one else's, and there are others who occasionally use my PC. The other is that when others use my PC, if I give them administrative privileges on my computer, they will screw it up. So I don't let them.

I came somewhat close to that. She found the history file with many hits to a CD forum and the old "Men in Bras" forum. I walk in late at night from a very macho activity to her questions. i said the stuff interested me and she simply turned off the computer. i had a restless night only to wake to a no response from her. I didn't have the guts to take it further so i look at our situation as a Don't ask Don't tell. Sorry to hear yours isn't going well. Hang in there and maybe seek out some advice from a well trained counsellor.

I spent 6 months with a well trained counselor. His approach was to make me quit my cd'ing activity.

She didnt recognize you, wow you are good. Maybe that can be to your advantage. BE a girlfriend as well, she might just like that.

Well, if I were you, I'd keep discussing this with your spouse. This wasn't the best way to find out, but now that she knows, don't clam up about it. As for the counselor, remember one thing. They don't have any answers. They are just there to provide an impartial third party opinion and look at your situation as objectively as is HUMANLY possible. What you decide is stricktly up to you. Good luck. :)

Hopefully, she'll get over the shock and at least hear you out.
I'm surprised you continued to go to a counselor who apparently knows little about CDing.

All of my pics are on a flashdrive in a hidden volume encrypted with true crypt. If someone plugs in the drive, it appears to not have been formatted. If someone formats it, well, I lose my pics, but the secret is still safe.

The opposite thing happened to me. I was asked to sort out virus infections on a PC belonging to an older close relative. I stumbled across several large folders full of downloaded femdom, CD and porno pics.
He was the very last person I would have expected to have those interests. As none of the pics were illegal I decided it was nobodies else's business. I have told nobody about them, not even him.

That sucks, I hope everything works out okay for you.
I guess I'm fortunate. My wife takes most of the pictures of me.

Sorry things went down like that, Kathielynne.
Give it some time to sink in. Things may work out ok after some additional in-depth talks and (hopefully) some understanding between the both of you. :)

I'm sorry - you used the words "well trained" in the same sentence as "counselor" and "quit cd'ing activity". I find it hard to believe this person was "well trained" if they believed that suppressing who you are (quitting cding) is truly a healthy move. That's exactly the kind of thing to land you in many more years of counseling... maybe they were just trying to mess you up real good to keep coming back or something? Is this one of those retro counselors who pretends it's still the 1950's? Maybe he also believes that blacks and whites should still be segregated, right? I'm just surprised to hear you wasted six months with this guy. If you were an ax murderer, then quitting is very good. If you're just a crossdresser... what exactly is the problem? Oh yeah - 1950's style counselor. That 'splains it. I'd LOVE to have a one on one chat with this guy some time. Bet I find a simple hater underneath that "well trained" facade... or perhaps just a general idiot who truly doesn't know any better (and should probably not be counseling).
I'm sorry on that front as well - double whammy for you it seems. :(

One technique I use is to just rename the extension on my photo files from jpg to something bogus that can't be opened, and then bury them in a directory. Keeps them from being searched for by extension or opened by an unauthorized person.

Like Gabrielle, I find it very hard to put those things together, sensibly..

No but I had all of my pictures here on the computer and was gonna take them off and wasn't figuring on anyone coming by one night and sure enough my brother and his wife were here.. the computer was acting up.. I was trying to install I-tunes program for the different people who have I-pods to get the music that was on this computer and I was having all sorts of fun trying to get it to load and for whatever the reason the picasa program kept opening and it opened with a folder of me dressed up right there and the pictures were set to big or large rather than small and my older brother saw the pictures of me dressed up and asked "what was that?".. I lied of course.. told him I was trying something with some pictures that I found on line.. did he take that as ok?? beats me... and that's why I'm not sure if he knows or not.. I'm not gonna find out the hard way either..
