Hay there it's me again and aren't you all lucky.:heehee:

Ok here it is. Yesterday Roberta M and I got together to do some shopping and then dinner. She treated for a thank you for helping her with makeup hair walk etc. Well we had her all dolled up but she was having trouble getting her mind set into girl mode? She had a rough day bit she said It would take her about 3 hours to really get into fem-mode. So it got me thinking , see When I get into fem-mode is some times before I start my makeup or as I am doing it or at the latest when I put my wig on. Never after that.

So my question is this (How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll tootsie pop, the world may never know) Wow where was I dam I hate when that happens. I mean when do YOU get geared up into fem-mode?
And why?

Usually it takes me about 8 hours -

7.5 hours are spent trying to get motivated to wear something more than a tee and shorts, and 30 minutes to dress and make up

It used to take me 2 hours but now I can get it down to 45 minutes if I "get my skates on" ... BUT... only if I've already decided what I'm going to wear! :D

A koan of sorts:

Once upon a time Picasso was sitting in a restaurant.

A woman approached him.

“It’s you — Picasso, the great artist! Oh, you must sketch my portrait! I insist.”

So Picasso agreed to sketch her. After studying her for a moment, he used a single pencil stroke to create her portrait. He handed the women his work of art.

“It’s perfect!” she gushed. “You managed to capture my essence with one stroke, in one moment. Thank you! How much do I owe you?”

“Five thousand dollars,” the artist replied.

“B-b-but, what?” the woman sputtered. “How could you want so much money for this picture? It only took you a second to draw it!”

To which Picasso responded, “No, Madame, it took me my entire life.”

Mentaly,i get into femne mode almost instantly! It's like i can turn a switch on or off whenever i choose to! Phisically, it can take anything from an hour to a couple of hours to get into female mode! When i'm all femned up, i don't even consider my male side.

Normally around an hour.

The fastest time ever was last Sunday when I needed to go out real quick to buy a newspaper.

Just a little tinted moisturiser, mascara and lipstick and I was finished..... in 6 minutes !

That is pretty rare though

About an hour and a half to do everything. Most of the time is spent doing my makeup.

About 40 to 45 minutes for make up only, but overall a little over an hour to fully doll up.

Hugs!

I think I did not make myself clear , I am not talking about how long to get "made up" I am talking about how long to get your (mind and thinking fem) before you go out. You know the walk the hand gestures, attitude, and of course Mind Set. I hope that cleared it up.

If I'm just hanging out at home then I only take an hour or so.

When I went out to the Oxwood last weekend I gave myself 2 hours and ended up feeling super rushed. Next time out I'm going to make a day of it and relax.

The other times I've gone out on Halloween or to a casino I've taken as much as 3 hours.

As for getting into "girl mode" mentally, it is pretty much a flip of a switch as soon as I see her (wing, bra, & forms) in the mirror.

Yes Christina,

I took your question to mean the female mindset not the physical transformation.

In my case I have to be in the mood to do it. I often plan an evening out, a photo session or a girly evening doing (use you imagination) and when the time comes it doesn't happen. It just did not feel right.

It has to feel right for me and the time frame is irrelevant.

Physical time even though it is not the topic is one and half hours.

I only like to get in fem mode when I can do it for at least 12-36 hours (at least).

-I have to take a good shower.
-Shave where I need to.
-Clean my body getting ready to attach my forms.
-It take almost 20-30 minutes just putting my forms on.
-Makeup, cleaning up any extra hairs on my body.
-doing my nails hands and toes.
-I love wearing a corset . . . it takes 20-30 just getting my body ready to tightlace.
-jewlery
-and did I forget shoes/heels

I usually like to take my time, so it takes 1.5 - 2 hours if I am going out for the night. During the day I can be ready in an hour, I have managed it in 45 minutes, but it is usually longer.

I am always in the "femme" mode as it feels as the right choice for me. There is no need to think how to behave or plan anything beforehand. From the first moment of the day I'm already in femme mode. I simply do not leave from it ever. Getting the right looks, that's already another story.

can take me between 30mins and 2 hours, Somedays quicker or slower...if i do the full regime, its:- 1) bath, shave Tanning cream---30-40mins
2) put adhesive on breast forms
3) hot face flannel soak 5min
4) more adhesive on breast forms
5) cold face flannel soak 5 min
N.B. trust me the face soaks work, skin comes alive..even better with cucumber or tea bags for eyes.
6) decide what to wear, apply breast forms, get
dressed,--15min
7) face make up, foundation, powder, eyes, blusher -
20 mins,
8) wig----This is the one that makes it or breaks it
for me..this can either be 10 mins if lucky or like last night 3 hours..yep took me 3 hours, just could not got the thing to work for me....if i'm just going to shops,i like to tie it up,but had problem with hiding real hair at the back, then it gets all tangled..was driving me crazy, i thought jeese i couldn't go 24/7 it be a nightmare......so overall 2hrs..1hr if i skip all the bathing and soaking..

To "get into the Fem mindset" takes me about 3 micro seconds.

I'm almost always in some sort of girl mode. How I present to the rest of the world is just a byproduct of appearing in public.

Now, if I wish to make a good impression as Ladylike that can take as much as 4 hours.

The thought process is at least 75% girl most all the time. I don't want to transition and that wasn't my ultimate goal in all of this, but I'm finding myself facing some sort of avalanche of thoughts actions and feelings that are rather surprising to me. Don't tell me I've stepped onto the "slippery slope" and there's no way back.

I get into the 'zone' instantly and i'd say i'm always in the girly frame of mind right now, but maybe about 30 mins to get dressed/do my make up, sometimes it's a lot lot quicker.

It depends on what I'm doing and whether I'm going anywhere. Just deciding what to wear can take a little time. But given that I know what I want, it usually takes me about 40 minutes to dress, an hour or more if I'm going out or doing a picture session. When I'm just going to dress for an hour or two, I usually don't bother with mascara because it's such a pain to remove completely. But if I'm going anywhere, or going to do piccies, eye makeup is a must, and I try to go the whole nine yards. This would also include fingernails, which I love, but let's face it....they're a pain. Then there's primping time once it's all done, just to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. It's no wonder to me that it takes ladies so long to get ready! I'm no different.

For me, it took only about 10-20 minutes to put on everything (clothes, wigs, make ups etc), but I usually made a mess out of it which usually caused me another hour.

Having been diagnosed with chronic/acute FSL (Femme Side Leakage) I am pretty much in girlmode mentally all the time. Okay, yeah, it was self-diagnosis, but it's still valid. I have a nurse uniform. As far as physical prep time, leaving aside body shaveage, etc, which I do every day anyhow, then makeup and dressing takes maybe 30-45 mins or so. What I call my quality time.

For those of us who shapeshift, it is important to minimize both “in” and “out” times. If “drop-ins” are likely, the more critical time is that of getting back to boy mode, removing makeup and other obvious femme accessories. Items such as lingerie and nylons can just be covered up so I underdress as much as possible to avoid the need to undress, Removing a wig, earrings, shoes, and stuffing for a bra, is quick, but removing make up and nail polish is usually not, so it is critical to minimize that time without “oopses”. (Of course that time is zero and there can not be residuals if I don’t wear them.) Other items that don’t need to occur help too, such as removing forms if you have natural boobs. Any other “tricks” to minimize the time needed to undo a MtoF transformation?

If I have to remove hair with veet and all that good stuff going all the way through makeup, dressing and putting on fake nails. Two hours! Once I have my nails on and if I already am smooth from the day before...maybe an hour if I push it. Generally however I find dressing to be quite fun and an artistic activity that has its own rewards...so I take my time and enjoy it.

Hi Christina,

This is a tough question. For discussion, I'll take boy-mode as when I feel like a guy. All gruff and focused on a task at hand. I'll take girl-mode as when I feel like a girl. Pretty, feminine, more aloof and loosely task oriented.

If I'm in boy mode and going to bed, even before I put on my girly tank top or t-shirt I'm there. If I know in the morning I'll be having some Gillian time I'll wake up in girl mode.

If I've been in boy mode in the daytime and having some Gillian time in the afternoon or evening, the switch happens just before or as I'm changing.

Sometimes there's a little remnant of boy mode left for a short while, but not often. I think the longest it's taken me to switch is maybe an hour or so and when I've felt rushed and distracted.

This has changed over the years. I can hardly remember, but I think there was a time when I was really still in boy mode when dressed as a girl.

These days, I'm often in girl mode even when dressed as a guy. And the switch happens so early now that I'm changing to match my feelings rather than my feelings changing to match my appearance.

-Gillian

Depends on where I'm going. If I don't need to do my hair and its just makeup a top and jeans 35-40 mins to go out in daytime, for I use little makeup. At night doing my hair all up and full makeup 1 1/2 to 2 hrs is normal.

Took me 3 years to get me to where I can rush and go, have done it half asleap in the am on the way out the door.

No time at all - it won't go away. I'm always me it seems. Mostly I struggle to get into some sort of male mode when I need to, it's such hard work. So I'm not going to bother anymore - too flippin' difficult.

It takes me no time to get into "my feminine mode" mentally. Physically, I can do my makeup in less than 10 minutes unless I "slip". The actual dressing, maybe 10-15 mins
assuming that I now what I am going to wear.

For me it ranges. I am entering femme mode when I first start thinking about getting ready. It continues to progress as I pick out clothes, get makeup ready, etc. Finally when all dressed, made up etc. Of course if Im going out then it progresses further. I guess I see it as a continuum.

I can dress, do my makeup and be out the door in 30 minutes. On our frequent crossdressing cruises we sponsor, frequently I sleep longer than my wife in the morning on a ship and to make breakfast on time have to be out the door in 30 minutes or less. I think and my wife agrees that I pass better when I only take 5 minutes to do my makeup. No doubt when I take longer I overdo the makeup.

I'm always in femme mode mentally so the answer would be no time at all.:D

As for getting dressed in full femme mode? I can do it in under an hour, if I don't have to shave my legs. I do have to wash and dry my hair every time, which takes a good part of fifteen minutes. And a basic make-up job takes about a half hour. I usually give myself at least two hours over all, so I don't have to rush.

Of course, if I chose to paint my nails, it about another hour for that, so the more time the better. It never hurts to take your time.

Mentally it takes atound an hour. I dress away from home and use the journey there to prepare. For clothes and make-up I can now do 45 minutes if in a rush, but like to leave one and a half hours. That way I can concentrate on things like eyebrows and nail varnish.

If I have a date it's about two hours shower to lipstick. I always decide what I will be wearing in advance and rarely change my mind.

If I am just relaxing by myself or going out to do a couple of errands it takes about half the time.

From the shower to the door usually takes me around an hour. But yesterday I was in town running errands. The first four stops were in guy mode. But then I had to take someone's tux back to a bridal shop. I was wearing shorts with a big pullover top. My hair had been brushed back so I brushed it forward into bangs. Then I put on lipstick, grabbed my purse and went into the shop. I returned the tux and asked if I could look around. The girl behind the counter said," Sure. Let me know if you find anything that you like." Twenty minutes later I left there and went to a second hand shop. The two ladies working at that store smiled and said hi when I walked in. I did the same. When I left I had a new short sleeve top and felt great. Then, on the way home I removed my lipstick, brushed my hair back and assumed guy mode. It had been a fun afternoon in town. It very much depends on the venue, and the event itself. I have not purchased many of the clothes I have in my wardrobe. I was blessed to have a GG in my life who, when this all started 11 months ago, selected and often purchased my clothes, bought my first wig and really took the time to experiment with makeup, hair and accessories.

Honestly, I never really expected to be able to ever make myself look as nice as she can, but I watched her every move and, over time I have learned to apply my face and dress myself. I can now make myself presentable, but I have a very long way to go to be able to live up to her example.

I live alone and some of the clothes have proven VERY challenging as several of the dresses and many of the tops zip up from the back and I still have difficulty with those and likely will for some time to come, but if I relax a bit and try not to allow myself to get too "frazzled', I can be ready in about 45 mins.

Here I was, just in from the yard having taken down trees and removed brush all day, shaved, popped in the shower, grabbed a drink and sat down. Suddenly I felt great and decided that Tina would be fun! It was already too late to do my nails, but they have matte-finish polish on them all the time, so I just worked at break-neck speed and from start to finish, full makeup...

30 min..

I couldn't believe it!!!!

Heck, the nails would take an hour alone to be hard enough to tolerate the rest of getting dressed so maybe I need to reconsider my fetish of doing my nails first. In reverse order I'd have another hour for Tina!!!

As far as the mind set...that's really not a problem, I'm already feeling like Suzanne before I even get ready. As far as actually getting ready, usually about an hour depending on if I need to shave my legs or not, I could spend more time, but it's nice to relax and take some pics and have a few drinks.

If you mean how long does it take me to get ready to go out, well that's another story.

If it's just shopping and such then about 20-30 minutes without too much fussing. If it's for dinner or something special then maybe an hour to get things just the way I want them.
