View Full Version : What is so magical?

What is so magical about wearing women's clothes, wearing wigs and makeup? Why we go to such great lengths(and sometimes risks) to do what we do and just what do we get out of it? Obviously I know the answer for myself but am interested in how everyone else feels about it. There will no doubt be a different answer and reason for everyone.:)

In all honesty I prefer to be naked and under my duvet... :)
However (terrible use of English) I guess I'm just a bit of a girly girl and find comparing mascara absolutely fascinating, and making myself look very pretty to turn on a special boy exhilarating... Not that he bothers to say much of course... If anything... Poo!
And I love the colours and textures... I know I'm a bit different being TS and all but I did start off liking clothes and make up before they became my de rigeur wardrobe so really I haven't changed much... Except for the boy bit as back then I did it for the girls... well mostly... :)

It's hard to put into words for me. I just love the feeling of the things I wear. When my wife and I go shopping is like I at Disneyland.:hugs:

I agree with Deb---It's a little like "Why do we breathe?"
It just feels natural and real. It makes me feel like I see the real me in the mirror.

Well, there are many parts of the dressing to break down, when i'm dressed I find the most individual and creative place that is unique to my own experience. It's the freedom to grasp for that individuality I find captivating.

It gives me a certain rush that only my favorite things do and it fills a void like nothing else I can imagine. Dressing up as Jessica allows me to express that femininity that is housed within my soul, for everyone else to see.
Okay, maybe not everyone. But some people, and just relaxing while dressed can be such a thrill. I really enjoy it and think it's sad when I can only dress once a month.

my desire comes from the taboos surrounding crossdressing, from a very young age most of us are told our gender roles and told we have no choice that we shouldnt wear dresses or other girly things as were male and thats that some even will tell you that crossdressing will condemn you to hell as is the word of a man who in every image you see of him is clearly wearing a dress.so my love and the magical atraction comes from the fact that it seems forbidden.

Well, let's see. I dress because I love the feel of the clothes, I love feeling pretty, and I feel closer to my wife. I can not remember a time in my life that I didn't wish I was female, or was very envious of them. By dressing I get the best of both worlds.
I have read, according to some phycitrist (please over look the speeling), that we do this because of a inner feelin of wanting to be able to create life. As women are natuarally able to give birth, (most any ways). By dressing we are trying to reach that plane, which of course we can not.
I'm not sure I agree with it completely but I do give it some crediabilty.

There's really no explaining it. I love the fashions, the way everything feels when on, practicing the makeup skills and appreciating the results when done, and the emotional/sensual/sexual state I get when dressed. And, it's a great way to forget my busy scehdule and escape into another persona....completely. :)

To tell the truth I was never really happy as a boy, oh yes I was good at sports and all that stuff but I guess what you would call good looking. I came out to my mother at 14 when she caught me dress in her cloths and cry and said I want to be a pretty girl. 55 years and counting and I am still dressing as it is want I want to be, HAPPY with myself :hugs:

Won't you be, won't you be, please won't you be my neighbor?
Like Mr Rogers changing shoes and cardigans, I come home, take off my shoes, socks and pants (easy it's all G-rated) and throw on a skirt or dress and shoes as required for the task at hand. Comfort and relaxation. Nothing more. My aura changes from red to blue.
Besides I like my legs :)

I have to agree with Lori to a point, it is very relaxing at the end of the day especially if it has been one of those days where one wants to wring a neck or two. The other side is I find it as natural as putting on socks/stockings or starting the coffe pot in the morning.

Hoo Boy! You're always one step ahead of me, Arianna.
I was just wondering this myself. The risks are quite high, of being seen anyway. I usually go out in the city where I live, and now that my hair is long, I don't use a wig.
So what are the rewards? I'm snot sure. I think it is that I have permissiion to not be the guy--the dependable, reliable, unfeeling guy that I pretend to be the rest of the time. I like the short shorts, skirts, camisoles and jewelry, but not pantyhose or relly high heels.
I would not call it magical. Maybe, as some said, right or soothing.
I hope you will share your thoughts, Arianna.

I just gotta be different!
Like TxKimberly, I do have a pair of magic shoes. They're one heck of a conversation starter. That would be the only "magic" I can think of.
Come to think of it, the increase in female attention isn't so bad, either. :)

For me, it has nothing to do with the feel or look of the clothes although that is an added bonus compared to most male clothes. I have always wanted to be a girl so dressing makes me feel complete although I am just as happy wearing nothing or next to nothing. I no longer need to wear a wig, I have shoulder length hair, almost. As for make up, I am starting laser on my beard area on Saturday and when the course is finished I will only need to wear a little make up when I am out.
Since I am transitioning, I should be living full time within the next 18 months, sooner if possible. :)

Ever since I was a little kid, I always felt tempted to try on my sisters' clothes. And I did. I dunno, that's the way it is. Too bad I can't tell my friends about it. :daydreaming:

I can't explain it, it just is, it takes me somewhere I love to go
Ah, Arianna, it's a sensible question no doubt, but unfortunately I gave up trying to explain it some time ago.
I do it because I like to. I know this is about as good as no answer at all, but in fact it serves to explain most of most people's behavior.
Good luck in your quest.

I just feel dressing as a girl expresses the real me. It makes me forget what a failure I've been as a man. Besides that, girls' clothes are just so much nicer than men's!

What is so magical about wearing women's clothes, wearing wigs and makeup?
The makeup and wigs drive me to distraction. Wigs in particular are not magical. So I'm growing my hair. Now that will be magical :) Make up is a pain - I only wear most of it to cover beard shadow.
The rest just goes with being me - I wear the clothes that suit me and my life. Going out clothes are magical - sensuous. Day to day clothes are not magical - they do the job they are required to. :)

...and the answer?
This one took me a while. Last night I was in a shirt-dress I particularly like...light blue, crinkly "skirt", soft "shirt", crinkly sash to bring the two sections together...the shoes my wife and I looked and looked to find to go with this dress that ended up being blue canvas tops with a 4" wedge heel. I tried it with black stockings and it didn't work so I changed to beige and my wife thought it was just great.
Now all of this could be the answer, but I don't think so. So, why did this all feel great? Was it that I was able to do all the makeup and whatnot in less than 30 min? (no nails) Was it that we enjoyed sitting around all night chatting and watching a movie? I can do that in drab.
What it really comes down to is that we've found this person...Tina...inside and never knew her. She has peeked out every now and again in my life, but we didn't recognize her. When we finally did see here for what she was, both my wife and I wanted to figure out who she was! This is the reason I go through all this...I need to know who she is. She is obviously a very important part of my being and without going down this path I would have no idea about this part of myself.
And the reinforcement is positive. Not only do I like Tina, but my wife likes her too, and Tina is helping us find connections we hadn't been able to make in over 30 years of being married! We all know how hard this bi-genderedness can be, but the rewards (right now, anyway) seem to be massively high!

Ever since I can remember I thought it would be tons of fun to wear women's stuff, all of it,clothes, makeup, wigs, everything! Magical is the word! And I don't know why I do this. The thought first entered my head when I was too young to remember. When I was little bitty, like at an age where kids still beleive in Spiderman or Superman, I used to hope I'd grow up to be a woman, for all practical purposes, and that I'd have a modern apartment somewhere with more clothes than I know what to do with and mirrors everywhere.

What's so magical?? wear a pair of pantyhose or tights and your legs turn that color.. wear high heels and you are taller.. for me the magic isn't there so much.. actually it isn't magic at all.. I wear heels and it just feels good.. same with everything else.. it isn't fem, or looking fem, it's feeling good.. i feel good when wearing some of these clothes.. and sometimes dressing up completely..

For me, it is a lot of little things added up (and I am sure I will miss some):
1. Primping
2. Feeling the different materials
3. For that matter, the unlimited colors
4. And styles :-)
5. Relaxing. Can't say why in particular. Maybe just my way of stepping out of the part of myself that has been taking on everything and just escaping.
6. And not having worries about conforming.
Rolled up, it is just about being me and enjoying every bit of it!

What a great topic! I have asked myself the question of "Why" countless times. All I know is that when I put on those panties and pumps, I am taken to a place where no one or no thing has ever taken me before.

I spent the last seven days working on a movie shoot. among other things I was doing set decoration, props and even had a few lines. I also helped the construction team. I was in male attire the whole time. It felt good to be working mostly out of doors and dressed appropriately for manual labor.
Tonight, however, I am wearing my pink nylon pajamas, pantyhose and a new pair of dark pink wedgies. I feel calm, soft and very relaxed--feminine if you will. My wife has no issues with what I am wearing. I am also feeling very close to her because we spent time together on the shoot--she was the wardrobe department.
It is just a great and overwhelming pleasure to be able to express myself in this manner.

The magic of women's clothing is no different than any other costume.
Think about it, take two loathed professions, lawyers and politicians, put a black robe on them and they are a revered judge! Magic!
For me it's not as much the clothes as the hair and makeup. I go from old and bald to younger and softer. Magic!

As Tracy says, it allows me to be someone else! COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, from who I've been MY ENTIRE LIFE!:)
Beyond that, is the feeling others have described. When I look into the mirror, and see a mysterious, attractive, young woman! Maybe dressed in a seductive outfit! :daydreaming:
The excitement, the electric charge running thru me, the MAGIC of that moment! It's so difficult to explain adequately!:D
Now, add the fact that she is me! After reading my own post, I can clearly UNDERSTAND why I'm hooked on CDing!

Skirts and dresses and feminine attire is forbidden to men. So naturally I had to try it.
Conclusion: Women get all the fun clothes! It's like swimming in infinity. Guy stuff is so boring. Girl stuff is beautiful and creative.
I like feeling pretty.
The fabrics are wonderful to the touch.
I like feeling feminine.
I've always been attracted to pretty clothes, especially skirts and dresses.
High heels rock!
I always wished I could grow my hair long and put curls in it.
Boobies are fun, but also fun to have!
Leg hair is yukkie, even though I have a little.
Long, pretty nails are fun.
Lipstick and makeup is fun.
Lace is exquisite. It's a part of life that most men miss out on completely.
Hosiery is a lovely and singularly feminine pleasure.
Cologne (for men) smells okay. Perfume smells wonderful!
And most of all, I like looking like a pretty woman.

For me the cloths bring me closer to the feminine. When I see a female wearing something similar to what I have, I feel a peace knowing "I wear that too!" That is an external way of saying "I'm not as different as society tries to make us".
