Was wondering if there were any exercises that were specifically designed for men to tone their body to make it more feminine?

The only way to make your body more feminine is hormones and surgery although since men tend to put on fat around the stomach before anywhere else, keeping your weight down through a healthy diet and exercise helps. The best exercises for this are running, swimming or cycling.

Yep exercise and a good diet. I fell off the wagon a few weeks ago and it shows, so as of today I am off the bad stuff. Anything that will whittle your waistline, diet, sit ups, will make your hips look bigger.

That's my motivation.

Diet is probably first...just do what your mom told you when you were a kid..."Eat your vegatables....everything in moderation....3 meals a day."

Next is exercise...we men tend to muscle up if we do any weight lifting at all....so stretching is a great beginning. Get a CD/DVD on basic yoga and begin there. About 15 to 20 minutes for two weeks five days per week. Then push that up to 30 minutes for 5 days a week ,for two weeks....then up to 45 minutes per day SIX days per week...and maintain there. If you get bored with the "basic" yoga, there are advanced stretches you can get into....

Next...walking! I know, people scoff!...well, don't worry about it. Nothing tones those legs quicker...burns calories, ... and makes you feel better. Start with 20 minutes per day, six days per week, for two weeks. Then kick it up to 30 minutes per day, six days per week for the next two. Then .... find some hills in your area. Incorporate them into your walking routine...push the hills (go up as fast as is comfortable)....stress the "heel-toe" gait. Does wonders for the calves. OK so far....now push this up to 45 minutes per day, six days per week with the hills in there.

Do both the yoga and the walking simultaneously. You're going to feel a bit sore during the first two weeks....and then, the magic really begins!

For extra motivation....get yourself a baseline - weight, all your measurements, heart rate resting...and photos! Back, side, front - full body. Once you have this "baseline", put it in a drawer and forget about it. You'll be tempted after the second week to do comparisons - DON'T!

Now, at the end of the sixth week, take the same measurements of yourself that you did for your baseline. Once you've completed that, put that set away as well (oh...and pat yourself on your now very taught and sexy bumm! You've done a hell of a job!).

After 12 weeks (if you begin now, this will fall in early to mid October)...take another set of measurements. Compare them with the 6 week ones (not too much change) and with the baseline (HUGE change).

Now...get out there and buy yourself a new outfit...the one you wanted to wear before you started this small journey, but were afraid wouldn't look good on you. Drop dead beautiful, right??

We're going to be waiting for you come October...and a few "before and after" photos wouldn't hurt!

And now that you look and feel so fabuluous...don't forget what got you there! Keep it up....maintain...encourage those around you. And bask in the praise!

You go, girl!

LOL !! Now you got me going. That is exactly my time line for an "event."

Don't forget alcohol. As I said in another thread I was an above average drinker until Feb 08. I dropped 11 pounds in two months just by cutting down to one drink a day.

Stay away from chips, pretzels, etc.

Go buy an outfit that you WILL fit into in the future... motivation.

I agree with everyone here. Lots of excersize and watch the diet. In fact, instead of 3 meals per day, break it down to 4 or 5 smaller meals throughout the day. The body can process small meals much more efficiently than larger ones. As for exersize, do a combo of cardiac and weight training. With the weights, do lots of reps with lighter weights. The goal here is to firm and trim the muscle, not to bulk up.

Check this link out...good stuff about this subject:

http://www.reneereyes.com/Webdocs/tipsexerc.html

She says to only do weights for one thing! To develop your chest. Leave em alone other than that because you want smooth arms and legs..not ripped!

Oh...one thing I personally found that worked was swimming laps. Really burns the calaries and lord it makes you smooth and toned.

Of course I totally fell off the wagon and gained a bunch of weight...but I am down 8 pounds in the last month or so. Got 5 more to go to where I really think I look decent. 15 to go to where I peak. So dang it! Its a struggle and ya can't lay off diet and exersise esp when middle aged.

You can't make certain parts of your anatomy more feminine without hormones and the like, but you can significantly improve your feminine appearance, and how you feel and move, by changing your "guy habits" for girl ones.

Like everyone has said, diet and some exercises, including walking and running, can make dramatic changes in how you look and how you feel.

Along with the other advice here I would suggest that you start reading some of the women's fitness magazines such as Fitness and Women's Health. They can provide a steady dose of motivation as well as guidance.

And (although I am not a medical doctor nor do I pretend to offer medical advice) you might look into switching dairy milk for soy milk and increasing your soy intake. Soy beans are rich in phytoestrogens.

Any thoughts on what kind of exercise would get rid of the spare tire - hell, all four tires and two spares - without aggravating my arthritis (left hip) and lower back pain? I can't walk more than a mile at a time because my back, hip and ankles start aching; likewise biking, situps and the like leave me in agony after just a few minutes.

Ralph, I would recommend seeing a trainer to get you started.

<Joni sticks her fingers in her ears and goes, LA-LA-LA-LA-LA....>

Stop it! All the dressing up like a girl and prancing around doesn't make me feel guilty one little bit, but not excercising and turning into Jabba the TGirl sure does.<sigh>

Maybe we could form a Diet-Buddies group or something. Kind of check in and encourage each other? Just a thought. Lord knows I can use some motivation. I have an exercise bike with dust on the seat and a Bowflex in pieces out in the garage.

I do have a funny to tell about the excercise bike. About a year and a half ago I carried it in from the garage and mentioned it to a tgirl friend of mine on YIM. She replied, "Good for you. Are you going to carry it in twice tomorrow?" Smartass tramp.<lol>

Lunges & other women exercises. Go join women at a gym in muscle class or aerobics.

Sillyfish and others,
Fondew has some really great help with exercise advise. When I read her post it was so on. Now it is our turn to get to work. If you need an incentive buy a new dress or swim suit that would be to tight and hang it where you see it each morning and night. Let's go girls, the glove has been tossed down

My wife gets mad whenever she gets new (used) exercise equipment and I remark that we have a new rack to hang up clothes on... but without exception, that has been the exact fate of a treadmill, two stationary bicycles and a rowing machine over the past ten years. I think the cats also use the current "exercise" bike as a perch to look out the front porch window.

I have found out over the years that the best way to work out is at the gym. Home gyms are fine but the environment is too comfortable. At the gym, you're out of the house and working out with others, using a variety of machines and weights, plus it's more productive.

So far, three kids helps me keep the weight off. While my wife was finishing her last degree (she collects them like stamps), I did a lot of the house stuff - washing, ironing, cleaning, cooking, etc. Yes, I get called a housewife, but you should see the outfit that I get to dust in. :)

I try to watch what I eat, but fail miserably. I have a severe weakness for food that tastes good. Unfortunately, other than boiled okra (a slimy green vegetable with white pus inside) I like it all! I'm 46 now, and due for my metabolism to shut down like a Frenchman on a Summer holiday, but so far, it keeps going, and going, . . .

As others have said, exercise and diet are the way to go. After my wife passed away 4 years ago, my children decided that it was time for me to really get on an exercise program. I have always done some exercising, usually walking, but not on a regular basis. Now i go to the Y 7 days a week, three for weight training (machines) and 4 for cardio work (Recumbant bike).

Now I also added, in a small way, Lucille Sorrella's exercise program, designed for men to feminise their bodies. Here is the link;
http://www.feminizationsecrets.com/bombshell-body-workout.html.

If nothing else, it does give you more flexibility!!

Recently I heard that Fish Oil pills help keep weight down, in spite of the fact that a recent study showed they don't reduce cholesterol like they say.

All I can say is, I had an easier time losing weight with 2-3 pills a day, plus 5-6 miles of 50/50 run/walk every other day when I was taking them. Everything was fine then. Now I have to excercise the chest to reduce fat in the midsection, in spite of still running regularly. ...Now I'm back on the pils and a 2-3 day per week diet of Salmon fish, which I buy at BJ's in a frozen bag of shrink wrapped filets which last me the month. I'm sure Costco sells the same thing. I have also learned that large amounts of beef in one's daily diet = cancer. ..... I still love steak...so do the females in my family, but we have all cut down on beef consumption.

A book called "The Lazy Crossdresser" by Charles Anders says "fat is a feminine tissue".

Good advice--the regimen that I'm working on includes multiple smaller meals, lots of time on my exercise bike, lots of brisk walking, and stretching.
