View Full Version : Girl Money

I know economic "times" are tough, and extra money is kinda tight for almost everyone. Once or twice a week I'll skip that morning coffee or only have the coffee without the bagel. Those few extra pennies, pounds, sheckels, drachmas, lira, euro, bucks, add up over time. I'll put them in a special place and when I have enough I'll buy myself something with my "Girl Money"
Now I know there are some here who make bundles of money every week and I'm not addressing those lucky ladies who can afford almost anything. I'm speaking to us working girls who have to earn our keep and maintain our dual existance on a shoestreing.
How many of us are like that?

I am past shoestring, I am on dental floss:) I have to recycle most of my outfits more now than I did a year ago. I did get a new top yesterday:)

I too don't have a lot to spend on my "hobby", but I find a little goes a long way with careful buying on E-Bay. Most of my lingerie and skirts are from E-Bay.

I buy things I like and will last. This comes from my other life too. Buying one nice item like a nice bracelet instead of ten cheap ones gives me satisfaction and I can justify the cost.
Every once in a while I put a little extra money in a zipper pocket in my purse. It adds up.

Dental floss? I'm down to a micro-thread. Hopefully I'll save up a little to be able to buy sme new fall stuff, since I've lost weight and my cool weather stuff is too big.

Yes, I do have a "girl budget." Sometimes, however, there is an outfit, a pair of shoes, a top, that I just have to have! I feel that my duty as a responsible American is to help the clothing industry weather this economic crisis. I call it the Fashion Industry Bailout. :)

Whenever I get paid or whenever I have any kind of windfall, I put a small amount in my purse just for Sarah stuff. All the pocket change and some of the windfall goes into a vacation fund for my wife and I to use together. I have to keep things balanced.

I have struggled these last 6 months since loosing my rather well paying job at the quarry, but it seems that money for food and bills eg power is the only thing missing ... hell last month I even lost the use of my beloved internet! but I somehow always "find" the money for perks such as the lovely new heels that I am wearing now ($140) or that lovely... that I just have to have.
OK so the pantry may be a bit on the bare side but it is doing wonders for my figure. :heehee:

Times are indeed tough here in NZ, Sarah. Sorry to hear that you have lost your job!
I try to get decent stuff for as little as possible.
The place to go is Savemart, a second hand clothing store.
Got three lbds for less than $30 last week.
Excellent quality!
The beauty of the place is that the clothing is sorted into sections and sizes.

At sixty six and just retired I have cut back some what.
With three closets full of clothes four dresser drawers full of silkey things and
over one hundred and twenty five pairs of shoes and boots I can rotate
through my inventory and find something diffrent although I do have
some favorites that aways stay on the ready line up front .
Just last week I found a pair of shoes I just had to have and today
I got two tops at A.J.WRIGHT on clearence $13.00 for the pair.

Thank God it's summer... I think virtually every pair of tights I have are holed or laddered... Laser has blown the budget to wincing proportions.

Money is tight for me as well. I don't save for my girl-things though, I just buy some from time to time. My wife and I live very conservatively when it comes to spending. At the same time, we both recognize the fact that sometimes you just have to treat yourself and live it up. The bills will always be there. Without the occasional rewards we allow ourselves, life would be pretty damn dull. I don't live just to work and pay bills, period. I live to LIVE LIFE. That occasionally high charge bill is worth the enjoyment. :)

I normally feel bad if I spend more than I would spend for my wife or kids. I don't feel right about spending too much in an item that will probably get purged (or that will probably not fit).
I normally go to Walmart or Targer when I'm on business trip.

I'm not able to buy as much stuff as I would like to, but when I do, Walmart is the cheapest convenient option for me.

Between moving (money to actually move and the fact this place is more expensive than my last one was) and having to pay for my vacation to Florida money's been a bit tough last couple months and will be for the rest of the summer...but I've been doing it such that whatever amount of money I make selling stuff on eBay I'll match with my own money for girl clothes (I don't count the normal every day stuff like girl body wash etc in that as that's just day to day stuff) after I pay off my credit card next month. Hopefully by September it won't have to be this ridiculous.

Comes out of my secret savings which is now pretty low after getting my wardrobe started. Almost want to come out to my wife so the clothing budget is 50/50.

My wife gets the whole paycheck, and the checkbook. If I want to use a check, I have to cover it from a side job, and we have two checkbooks on the same account.

My wife gets the whole paycheck, and the checkbook....
I remember that feeling. When I used to work for somebody else, payday was like the Academy Awards, I'd walk in the door and she'd say, "The Envelope Please"
Now that I'm self employed it's a bit easier to "squirrel" away a few pence every so often.

Theres no getting around it, for most of us, money or the lack of money is the major hurdle keeping us from achieving who we need to be.
Electroylsis or laser, facial feminisation, breast implants and GRS and we still need a roof over our heads, food on our tables.
Where are all the millionaires when you need them.
I often in the past have sneered at those of us who make a living on their back, but really there is not a great job market for transgendered women.
Increasingly I find myself asking why cant I? If it will help me to get where i want to be, why shouldnt i use men? Why shouldn't I?
