Someone once said "sarcasm is 90% truth"

I think that statement may be a bit extreme, but not entirely untrue.
Everynow & then I hear friends of mine mentioning wearing women's unmentionables in some form or another. Laughter ensues. My dad seems to be a big offender in this category.

You wonder what the motivation is. Lately it strikes me as a way of buffering the fact that someone *really is* a crossdresser, without losing trust amongst peers, or coming out. Why else would Monty Python's Flying Circus be such a popular program long after the tv show jumped the shark?

They dont neccessarily have to be a cd, they may just be a fetishist or someone who likes to wear womens underwear. A CD is much different than someone who just wears panties.

For some, it's laughing at something they're uncomfortable with, hoping others will find it simply amusing as well, especially if it's something that we're secretly ashamed of, even though it's not our fault. Example; most guys with man boobs are at some point embarrased by it. So, we make a little joke about being overweight and needing a bra because of it, and see if there's any animosity from the 'peanut gallery'. When we don't get any, we're relieved. At least, I am; having grown up being the constant butt of jokes every single day of my childhood, in comparison it's a little bit nice to be ignored about stuff I'd rather not be noticed for.

I think that very many men, if not the majority of men, are insecure about their maculinity. Therefore, anything that challenges that masculinity is a threat and is to be feared. Ridicule and denigration is often used to mitigate this threat, because god knows that if THAT guy is wearing a dress, it's entirely posible that I MYSELF may eventually want to wear a dress, and that is FORBIDDEN *quiver in fear*.

Sad but true.
