Well Girls, I made a major step forward yesterday. I took the day off to re-organize my closet. I went to Home Depot and bought some material to build some new shelves in our closet so I could get my shoes, clothes and accessories out of a big plastic storage box.
I built two shoe shelves that ran around the top of the closet that were 1"x10"x10' and put them on a slight angle down towards the front. I put a piece of trim about 2" from the back of the shelf so we could "hang" the heel of our (mine and my wife's) shoes on them to keep them from slipping off.
On one of the shelves I put 4 - 3/4" wood dowls that were about 9" long. I went down to Sally Beauty Supply and bought 4 styrofoam wig heads, slid them over the wood dowls and put my 4 favorite wigs on them.
I also got rid of a lot of drab clothes that I'll never wear to make room for all my girly dresses, blouses, skirts and jeans.
I then bought about 10 plastic storage containers to put some stuff like gloves, thermal underwear, shorts, etc in. I cleared up 3 drawers, 1 for my panties and bras, 1 for my lounging attire (I love cami's and short shorts from Aeropostal) and 1 for my lingerie, stockings and some extras.
I got everything out of the box and hung them up and put them neatly in my new girly drawers.
It was a great day!!! This was the first time I've ever been able to put my girl stuff in my closet. I now have a fully stocked "Allie Section". :)
So, I guess I'm "back in the closet" again, but in a good way!!!
Kisses,
Allie

Gee, I wish I could do something like that with Stephanie's clothes and shoes. At the present time, I have two boxes under the bed filled with Stephanie shoes (24 pair). That is only a fraction of my shoe wardrobe! Two dressers, one 6 drawer and one 4 drawer. In the 6 drawer one there is one drawer with drab underwear and socks. The other 5 drawers are my lingerie and some jewelry. One bedroom closet is half Stephanie and half drab, another is all drab, and the third is all Stephanie. In addition, there 4 poratable closets in my full basement stuffed with Stephanie's clothes plus 5 more in a storage place. Maybe I have too many clothes, you think?

Holy Cow Stephanie!!! That is a lot of clothes. Just like my drab clothes it sounds like you need to do some purging. I regularly go through my closet and see stuff that I haven't worn in a year. If I haven't then I give it away to Good Will or something.
I don't know if I'll be able to do the same things with my girly stuff. Each outfit has some meaning...maybe an interesting night on the town or something. :)

Allie

Allie, the real question that begs to be asked is: Did you go to Home Depot en femme?
LOL. Organizing is always a chore. One of these days I'll have to get the rest of my femme stuff out of a bag and onto hangers in the closet with the rest of my things. But I think my wife will freak out even though she has snooped through the bag.

Allie, the strange thing is that no matter how much space you create, it's never enough! How does this happen I wonder? :heehee:

Yes, Allie, I know it is a lot of clothes. But it is easy to purge the drab clothes! Not so easy to part with pretty feminine things! I know I need to, and there is some charities in need! So I guess I will have to "girl" up and sort them out!!

Okay, Allie, I read your post..and then I pictured my closet.. a walk-in that you can't walk in
but by definition, its a girl's closet..so much thrown around and disarray from trying different outfits :D
<Cassey ducks> to dodge all the heels thrown at her :D
okay..i'm teasing but not about how my closet looks..yes a spring cleaning in August is needed.
On a good note, my closet is mine so now half is fem and half of a half is male clothes hanging.. so I have more room for fem items.. whooo hooo.. :daydreaming:
actually i need to build shelves, etc like you did for shoes and a few foam heads for wigs..
biggest fear is having to put things away from nosey visitors.. hmmm trip wire at closet door would work..

Yeah, nosey people was a concern so here is what I did. The closet is about 14 feet wide and about 8 feet deep. I ran the shoe racks along the long sides, one that you can see when you walk in (on the back wall) and one that is on the front wall (above your head when you walk in) I put all of my stuff with shoes and wigs on the one on the front wall. So to see my stuff you would have to walk in and turn around and look up. Most people will not be that nosey. :)

It feels great to be able to keep your things in your own closet doesn't it Allie? My problem now is space, or the lack of. Just yesterday, I moved out all my long-sleeve male shirts to make more room for O's clothes. They are slowly but surely crowding out the male things. Maybe an apt metaphor for my life in fact.:) Anyway, here's a shot of some of my girl clothes in my closet just a while back. No guy duds in this shot! I really need to update the pic. I have some of the plastic storage boxes too, and they come in quite handy!

The trick is to somehow make the closet expand to fit the available clothes...or maybe it was the clothes expand to fill all the available space? ...something like that. I think the wig heads would freak out my wife...

What a great feeling it is to have your own closet with your clothes and everything is organized and see what you got.
