Yes, I am holding in my hand my bottle of Estradiol.

I had knee surgery last week, so I need to ask my Surgeon if it's ok to start HRT.

So here is my time line in getting hormones:

June 17, 2009- First visit with my doctor, I asked about HRT, and she set me up with a referral for a psychological evaluation.

July 15, 2009- Had a 45 minute psych eval, and the therapist gave the ok for hormones.

August 19, 2009- Had a short appointment with my doctor, and she gave me a prescription for Estradiol.

August 20, 2009- Picked up my hormones!

I'm so happy everything is going so smooth, and fast.

Anyway, I'm so happy, I just wanted to share!

Congratulation! This is a major step in your transformation.

I still remember the day when I had the hormones in my hands for the first time, it felt great. Like my life would have suddenly got a meaning.

I'm also glad the surgery went on fine, nyaa. I hope it didn't hurt that much? Even nicer that it isn't stopping you from your hormones, something I'm sure you will love more than anything else in the world for a long long while.

Wonderfull, isn't it? I think you'll notice the mental effects long before any physical one's. and while I did see some physical changes that I THOUGHT were breasts growing... naw.... but now at 10 months on HRT I can tell you that you will have fun but it will just be gangbusters at six months, it's so worth it.

Congrats Amanda -

I actually "self prescribed" hormones via the internet for about 10 months, but realized that I needed to make sure I was doing the right thing. Now I'm seeing a therapist and she'll know when the time is right - hopefully in a few months!

After a few months, you'll feel like the "self" you should be!

And enjoy the effects of the hormones. Are you also on Anti Testosterone meds also, such as Spironaclotone and Avodart? Usually to get the maximum effect from the estrogen you need to block the male hormones in your body..

But congratulations, your going places now... Kim :battingeyelashes:

I will definitely be...we talked about antiandrogens specifically and my doc wants me to start one thing at a time, just in case I have any negative reactions. So in one month I go back, and we will go from there!

It feels good doesn't it? I remember how I felt - I self-medicated for a time but finally had the sense to go through a doctor. Way to go !

Thats great Amanda. My doctor started me on Spiro first. I see her again in a month and hopefully she'll give me the OK to start estrogen then.

Thanks again, girls! :) In a couple of hours I go to my orthopedic doctor...I'm going to ask if it's ok to start taking them...part of me wants to down one anyway, but I have been doing everything right so far, and I feel good about that, so I will wait.

I'm going to ask him how menopausal women handle their meds after surgery to start with, then I'll tell him I want to start my HRT ASAP!!! I shall post later with the answer.

Amanda,

Congratulations!! I just got my first shot last thursday!

You seem very committed to working through things the best way possible, and that is very admirable.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery and hopefully it won't delay you too much with your HRT.
