Hey, to all the Texas girls out there...... I need some recommendations for a good therapist in Austin. After coming out to my wife, she feels very strongly that I should talk to somebody.

I don't feel very conflicted about "who I am" or about who I want to be. It seems that many of the therapists I've searched who deal with gender issues, seem to focus more on people who are far more gender dysphoric than I am.

It's probably more important to find somebody who can provide effective couples counseling, and help my wife understand this issue better. Please reply or send me a private e-mail if you have any recommendations.

Thanks.

You don't need counseling.
I guess you have to keep the better half happy though.
A real eye opener for her would be to read the posts on this site. She just might change her mind.
It's a lot less expensive than a shrink you don't need.

I can't give a personal recomendation but I have heard that Carson Rader is a very good therapist. Carson is a FTM transsexual.
I live just north of you in the Killeen area and there are very few therapists around here with TG experience.

I met Carson Rader when he was known as Jill Rader. A TG friend of mine was seeing "her" then, and I was introduced at the office. My friend really enjoyed the sessions she had with Rader. Might be worth checking out...

Sorry Danielle,

I figure I've got enough problems with out letting someone else muck about in my head so I've never messed with therapists.

Well, if you are up here in the Fort Worth area, I can recommend Kathryn Foster. She was very helpful to me, non-judgemental, and very accepting of TG issues...........Stephanie
