Yesterday was a wonderful and yet a very arduous day with the rising at 4am for a day at the therapist. After my bath, makeup, picking out an outfit (uggggg) and shoes (uggggg again), lol doing my nails (should have done them the night before) I was off for a two hour drive the the Twin Cities.
I got there early so I did an hr and half of testing and then my session followed by another 3hrs to finish the testing. That should have been enough but nooooooo not this girl as I had a book club meeting for transgenders at 5:30pm. So off to the Southdale mall for some shopping and lunch. Back to the center and a first time group session.
The invite to the meeting was by a friend, Pam, and she let me know what the book was before the meeting (two weeks earlier) so I could pick one up and start reading it. The ladies and young man there were so wonderful and accepting. The discussion of the book kinda got lost in an open discussion with the idea of helping a young transgender, Grace, and her family. Befor long the tears and warm feeling of a extended family gelled and by the end of the club meeting I was drained not only physically but emotionally.
I said my goodbys and headed back to the mall to visit with my nephew, Dan, and ask for his help with a new hair style. He and his partner are moving to southern CA so I wanted to say goodby and wish him all the support. Back on the road for another two hours and home. With all that happened yesterday the one thing I can say is we are fortunate to have a support system that does work if you ask.
Last night as I was clearing my head and thinking about the events of the day I felt like my life has finally come full circle. And the fact that my therapist said something towards the end of our session that made my heart jump, you could be on hormones in about three months, the day was so worth every minute. For all those who read this keep your focus and don't worry about the moment.
Ladies, Pam and Lee and those I cannot remember your names (sorry) you are the most amazing and sweet people. Thank you for your support and invite, see you soon. :hugs::love:
