View Full Version : What is wrong here?

I have been building a CD blog for shopping and, in the process of doing that, I have been compelled to follow a great many CD/TG links. Why, oh why do the majority of them end up in porn sites? Have we, as a community, established this kind of image to the world? I hope not. I would rather think that there are a lot of people out there who are trying to make money off the lonely and troubled folks of the world. But, the porn stuff just infuriates me.

How about you?

Quite honestly I see nothing wrong with the porn...
I don't honestly think it really sends any real message about us as a group, but the fact that 80% of the internet consists of porn, says volumes about human nature and the drive to procreate. Sex is the driving force of civilization after all.:2c:

Where there's a buck to be made, the porn industry will exploit it, and make a lot of money doing so. Over 50% of the entire internet is related to porn, a statistic that really doesn't speak well of civilization. But it is what it is. We, as humans, are sexual creatures. And porn in all its forms, from beauty pics to animal sex sites, sells.

Andy66
08-30-2009, 12:59 PM
Yeah, what Niya said. Try typing in just about any word that describes a group of people (men, women, gay, straight, bi, Asian, black, white...) and you'll get porn sites.

On the one hand, I'm glad there are so many different sexual tastes in the world. It means that no matter who you are there's someone who thinks you're attractive just the way you are. But on the other hand, the sleazy porn sites have really gotten out of hand, and it's sad.

I don't believe in censorship (except for protecting children, of course). I can't really say objectionable crossdressing porn will disappear if there ceases to be a market for it, because we are probably not the ones creating the market... so it would be silly to tell "us" to stop buying it. All I can say is that we must fight negative stereotypes with education. We need to let the public see that CDs, transgenders etc. are really decent people.

DinaMature

For my own purposes, searching the web for CD relevant topics does too often end at a porn site.
And I agree with the assessment that this trend is part of the battle we fight within society... it only feeds the cultural stereotyping we all struggle with.

And to further a point, yes - type in just about any human quality and it will lead you to a porn site.

However, there is a preponderance of porn within our category; compared to broader terms. Black, asian, handicapped, retired are topics that will bring you a mix of results. Specify Crossdressing and the great majority of hits will be porn related.

Hi Cathy-

I don't know what's wrong either, or if it's actually wrong at all, it just seems to be human nature to exploit sexuality in all its various manifestations. But when I come out to someone who genuinely seems interested in finding out more about TG people, I explicitly warn them that if they do a search on the internet (where else would they go nowadays?) that they better be prepared for a bunch of pix of chix with dix porno sites (sorry to be crude) and not for a minute to believe that that is what the TG community is all about.

Porn is everywhere.

Not targeted just towards crossdressing but to all other types of human alive.

I would say that porn is what made the internet commercially viable.
Without it, the worldwide spread may not have been achieved so easily and so quickly.

The worst bit about porn is when it is marketed to you (either as junk mail or as an online ad) when you are not interested.

If I wanted to look at porn, I would soon find it - easy enough on the net now.

If trying to explain to someone what crossdressing is about, wouldn't it be a good idea to tell them about the information on this forum.
This forum alone should suffice as to anyone who wants further information on the subject. Plus there is no porn here.

I don't believe in censorship (except for protecting children, of course).

And animals. :)

Everybody has their own thing that gets them off. As long as it isn't hurting creatures against their will, I respect whatever the fetish or turn-on may be. Everybody's different.

But, unfortunately, the TG community along with others have yet to gain respect from the general society. Therefore, cispeople who don't know much about transpeople are only associating them with what they see; mainly MtFs being treated like sex objects. They ignore the gender identity and think we do it all for a sexual thrill. In short, we get misread and misrepresented. (Well, maybe not so much me. More the MtFs. I'd be more appreciated at NAMBLA. :ner: )

I also think the over-representation of porn these days, although porn itself does serve a purpose and should have its own niche, is cheapening the meaning of sex. It's about intimacy, not making a dollar or going into it for only your own pleasure. Some people do feel this way, and that's fine, but the saturation of it all is brainwashing new generations of kids who don't know how to value sexual interactions outside of a dollar sign.

This board wasn't without porn when it was first opened, it had an adult section, pictures you wouldn't show your mother... and all sorts of awful stuff... But over the years, new staff, new rules, it's all gone ;) I think people join hoping to see that kind of stuff here, sadly, they are mistaken.... we don't have no porn here :guns I don't mind it at all, but that's not what we're about ;)

I'm really happy that this place has since gotten rid of that stuff. I wouldn't have joined, otherwise, because I would have figured you were just another superficial site.

By the by, I'm assuming we have these "free CD chat!" advertisements (which appear a bit sexually-intended, though don't blatantly say so) to keep the board running? Like, revenue comes in that way? I've always been meaning to ask about that...

Sex..or procreation is a basic instinct. All animals are generally driven by need for food and need to procreate....Thus the reason for so many unfortunate stray dogs and cats (i digress). Are we not also animals or have we fooled ourselves with our society and social morals that we now look down upon and degrade those who submit to their natural animal instincts. Why else is the world human population now exceeding 6 billion persons. If we don't quite screwing around...we're not going to have room to breath!!!~!

Well, it's not about sex, it's about respect.. Because of CD "admirers", there are those nasty sites out there that cater to them. And, of course, reflects back down to us, and when the general public sees these disgusting sites, it affects us..

Oh dear lord.. I hope it never gets to the point where typing in "crossdresser" into gooble gets you nothing but sex sites... Think about wives finding information, or others trying to figure themselves out. I highly doubt it would get that bad, but you do never know :(

I've entered searches for pantyhose online in hope of finding a better selection of colors and styles than what I find in stores these days, and while I do find a handful of shopping sites, the great majority of what shows up are links to porn magazines and pictures. I don't like that kind of stuff, but guess you have to live with it when shopping on the web.

Porn admins scan the domain registries for expiring domain names. When the name expires, they register the name and stick a porn site redirector on it So when someone at www.techgeeks.com forgets to send in his renewal or lets the site lapses, it quickly flips to a porn site owner and sends all those techy geeks to www.pornbeus.com.

Warm regards,

I have a new blog on blogspot.com and was doing some research into tags for the blog. I searched for Crossdressing, etc and almost all the blogs have some form of pornography on them. I was hoping that I could put together a blog that would offer good information and help others with their crossdressing/transition. Maybe that fact that my blog is so different I'll be able to differentiate myself and attact viewers. I'm hoping all the porn doesn't make someone give up before they find mine. :)

Kisses,

THANK YOU! (and everyone else for making this a porn free place to visit!)

The amount of "ASL's" that other places bombard one with, the overtly pornographic photos, and the assumption of those that visit any of our sites is the reason I don't do "sexy" pictures. Of course "sexy" is subjective to the viewer so my idead may seem prudish to some.

I like the hinted at, beautiful pictures that can be seen here. They don't go over that boundry because of good moderation.

I agree with all the other posts. Another reason I hate porn myself, is the stuff will do a number on your computer. A buddy of mine, noncd, told me he went to surf porn sites, and got his computer infected with every virus out there. He had to have an IT friend of his fix it. Thats another good reason, maybe the best, to stay away from that stuff.

That is one of the main reasons I joined this site. That and so everyone here has been really nice, careing and willing to share thier strengths as well as thier pains. It seems to me that the people here are more intune with themselves and other and also they seem to really want to be supportive of each other.
But then that is just my oppinion.

Type "gay" into a search engine, you'll get pornography too.

Hell, type in "Feet." Third link down is "Celebrity Feet Magazine."

Ultimately, this isn't about us and what we've become, it's market forces. Some people don't want to be like us or support us, they want to throw us on the pinball machine. For those people, there are sites.

Besides all that, cross-dressing in the mainstream is still a "fetish."

SO!

Whatever.

Personally, I find this (http://www.leaderu.com/stonewall/pages/randall_w.html) far more offensive.

Cathy: Good topic. I think it is up to us, right here, to create our own network, free of pornography, and with purpose. You have the option on your links page to only link to non pornographic sites and sites which do not link to pornography. When I link a site I make sure that it is a good site (responsibility).

When younger, I looked at porn.

But too much of it gets boring after a while.
Besides, the amount of times I had to re-install windows because of viruses, was frustrating.

After not looking for porn, my computer runs fast as it should.

I gotta ask: What's the connection between porn sites and viruses? I know it's true, I just don't exactly get why. Does the maker of the site, like, add in these viruses himself (yeah, I'm stereotyping) as some additional way to advertise and track somebody on their own hard drive? Or does some outsider make the connection under the assumption that's he'll strike the most people on a porn site, since so many people look at porn?

I'm confusing myself. I'm not tech savvy. At all.

I think the reason for all the porn is much more simple.

Advertising pays the bills.

When it comes down to it, it seems that most of the cd/tg related sites do not have a huge pull when it comes to enlisting advertising clients. Perhaps as people do learn more about our lifestyles this trend will begin to change.

I have BAD NEWS for those of u that think most folks on this site dress for reasons NOT sexual in nature!
I'm guessing sex is involved, at least in some small degree, with MOST of the dressers here!

That being said, this site is the ONLY place I have found intelligent conversation about CDing, and many other topics!
While Tamara SEEMS to be tough, this site IS like a bubble away from the rest of the CD world!

And it is because Tamara and others run such a tite ship, that this site stays a cut above all the others! Thank u, mods!:hugs:

I feel confident when I receive a PM here, it won't say, " Wink wink"! Like I commonly get at the OTHER CD sites!

If u don't like chat rooms, stay out of them! I do.

If u want sex or porn, ( and I like them both:D), there's MILLIONS of other sites where u can find them! Just NOT HERE!

Ze

I'd like to agree with you on most of that, doc, but rather change "most folks" to "some MtF CDers." The bulk of FtMs and MtF TGs (and probably some MtF CDers) don't associate with a fetish. And we're all still part of this same site. :)

Michelia

And I think the biggest largerst reason for this is our own doing. We as a group do not get out dressed and let the world know that we are good nice family people. We let the extremist elements amongst us ( I am not berating them, they have their rights, too) represent us in the entertainment industry and the reality shows. There is plenty of money to be made with porn and it is not just crossdressing porn so do not take it personally.

It does get me when quasi-public service liberal corporations like Craigslist act the same way. Have you ever tried to post a Craigslist ad to meet another CD for friendship? The category does not exist. It exists for gay and women and men. Platonic ads apply to all. Yet if you look for any tg categories, they are under casual encounters and only advertising for sex with men or couples. It is almost as if Craigslist is promoting this type of behavior and/or profiting handsomely from this, although they claim they do not profit from these ads. The assumption is that we do not exist as a group except as sex toys.

I have emailed Craigslist twice about this and have yet to receive an answer. There should be a tg category under platonic ads. Also for tg to meet other tg and tg to meet women - we are not all gay and only interested in sex!

Please join me in emailing Craigslist about this.

Doesn't take much does it?
Even with phone numbers, some of the more used ones like 1-800 ones, phone sex companies often have their number that would be like one number different so instead of hearing your bank, you hear from dial-a-****.

But yeah it does bite how the porn industry has made it look like TG-ism is about smut. The vast majority of TG people are not about random sex.

Interesting, I figured a lot of women watched it as well, but nice to see a source..

Tamara, statistics can vary greatly, it really relates more to how random the sample is vs. the number of people sampled. Thats why some of the professional political polls can predict the winner of a presidential election before voting begins.. Obviously statistics can be made to say whatever the creator of it wants it to say, but a good one is usually accurate to within plus or minus 3% of the result. Traditionally the more random the sample the higher the accuracy.
