Needed to do some errands and also needed to let Nikki have some time too. Decided to try to combine both at the same time.
Now I've dressed near home at night to a TG friendly club, and have gone out dressed in the daytime when I was out of town but not around home. So I did my make-up, (chickened out on eyeliner and wig), hoop earrings, flowered blouse, bra and jeans and flip flops toe nails painted a sheer pink.
Ran my errands, stopped for coffee and decided to checkout a second hand clothes store that recently opened. My daughter had mentioned that she had been in there and they had nice stuff cheap.
Well I pulled in, and there were some workmen working in the parking lot and I just lost my nerve, turned around and left. Went home, disgusted with myself and decided I've gotten too far to let this bother me. Changed my top (spilled a little cheese sauce on it), and put on my small diamond studs and drove back. Walked in, it is a small store run by the owner and she asked if she could help. I told her I was looking for me and did she mind, she said no and had other male shoppers. Well she led me to my sizes (whale world) LOL and made suggestions, gave opinions on what fit and possible accessories. Didn't really find what I was looking for that fit (but she did have some beautiful stuff in other sizes). I still walked out with another blouse and two pairs of earrings for $17. She also told me to check back in the next week or two when she puts out more of the fall stuff and she'll keep an eye out for what she'd think I'd like. She also had heels in sizes up to 12. I'm a 10-11 and nothing fit right either too big or too small.
I guess the point is because of our timidness or fear we sometimes miss the opportunity to meet some nice people.
I guess the only problem that I have with the place that it is close to home and I do worry about running into someone that I know. I'm widowed, so I can't say I'm shopping for my wife (especially if I'm wearing it LOL) and you know a dad can't shop for a 17 yr old, we have nooooo taste. But I will continue shopping there.

Great job!!

Congratulations, you've passed the big first step. It only gets easier from here. Good on ya' for being honest with the SA as well. As a wonderfully perceptive member of the female species, they can tell when you are buying for yourself. To tell them otherwise insults their intelligence and gets you off on the wrong foot. Keep on going out and having fun. Nikki needs her time.

I commend you for your honesty and being brave...I agree with Kathi. Also, what storeowner or businessman/woman would turn down business? I would think most of them would be friendly and helpful.

Nice story. I don't remember having any reall bad shopping experiences.Only the Catherines stores will not let a man or M-FCDer use the fitting rooms. The store pesonnel will tell you the fitting rooms are for "women Only".

Any small step is still a good step :) Congrats Nikki. When we hide away we do miss out sometimes.Meeting people and having experiences in girl mode is beautiful.Even in guy mode I've been pretty sure that the sales people had a good idea that things are for me.I'm very fine with it though :)
