I just got word from my therepist that she is going to write my recomendation letter for hormones. I am terrified, excited, and content at the same time. I know preaching to the choir.
I have been doing some research and Walmart has a month supply of 1mg E for $4. Has anyone had any experaince in this area?

Hi..Jess
can i ask some ?? who is making them . are they passed as controceptives . I would ?? there use as for males . I know there are some out there . & have you had your blood tested . as you know we need a base count to work from . Or is this a script & have you seen your endo .
We get a bit concerned when our people say they are going on meds .
hope you dont mind .

you'll still need a perscription..i havent been to walmart, will they give a perscription???
The girls are right...depending on how healthy you want to be...
you'll need a blood test, then a perscription to get the right hormones and delivery of them (pills, shots, transdermal) and probably a testosterone blocker as well
as far as how you feel....
you should be all those things!!! you are finally gonna find out about yourself!!

Walmart has the best prices but check into your insurance to see if you can save more by recieving your meds in the mail. I have Cigna and I only pay $15 for a three month supply for all three meds. Don't sterss out to much about taking them. It will take months before you start to see any results.

Congratulations !
As for the $4, sounds great. It depends on your dose of course, I looked at the site for the listing. You must be talking about Estradiol (1mg, 30 days for $4). The thing is that 1mg/day is pretty low, I'm assuming that is what they mean by a "30 day supply of 1mg). They also sell a 2mg tab for the same price :) :) I can't say what you doc will recommend, but 3-6 mg/day is common. Just a piece of friendly advice, stay away from Provera ( medroxyprogesterone acetate ) if you can. A better choice is Spironlactone with a DHT blocker.

I pay $8 for etrance(genaric ver) and $10 for Provia(genric ver). yes wally world will fill the script, exactly as it is writen....just like any pharm.
I have no idea why you think they would do it any other way? it's not a ileggle online pharm after all.

Not yet. Maybe in my excitement I'm getting a little ahead of myself. Simply my therepist is writing the letter to give to the MD for the script. She has referred me to a RN at a women's clinic who is working with another one of her trans clients. I assume the RN does not actually write the script, but gets the MD in the office to do so.
I intend on setting up an appointment as soon as the letter is in my hand (monday). I assume the therepist recomendation is the hard part. While I have a slight phobea of needles I am of good health with my blood pressure on the high end of the healthy range. I don't anticipate any sort of medical issues at this point.

Planning ahead is a good thing !!! Shopping around and figuring out how much all this might cost is smart ;)
Depending on your state/country and the education of the RN, they can write scripts for things like hormones.
You do not have to use injectable drugs for HRT, in fact most do not. There are reasons why some feel it is best, but thar's more than one way to skin a ghost
If you end up on Spironlactone, it may just fix that moderately high BP for yew !

i was very surprised that the needle in the butt didnt hurt at all!!!! and i was nauseous as the doctor showed me how to do it...
the reason to use a needle is to minimize the impact on the liver..
that's why its important to get a blood test first to find your base levels of T and E, your liver function, cholesterol and your pituitary function..
then you take the hormones and t blockers and get tested again to make sure you are tolerating the stuff, and that its working...if not, your meds can be adjusted from there...without a baseline...you can't know these important things...
this can all happen very fast...you could get a scrip for a blood test immediately (maybe even call ahead of your appt)...couple of days to get results...get your persciption going from the RN or her medical doctor...fill it in a day and you are off...sometimes they want you to mail for the meds (especially with injectables) but i got mine in 2 days
have fun!

I go to wally world for mine, never had a problem or been asked any questions that may cause embarrasment. Plus it is nice to call it in a couple of days ahead and just go pick it up when ready. Best of luck to you!!! I know it was one of the hardest things for me to finally do, but I can't begin to tell you how it has changed my life and outlook for the better!!

I also get my meds at Wally World Pharmacy and have no problems. Over all, with 4 different prescription medications I spend about $1 a day for my meds. Doable I'd say.
My doc asked me to also take a low-dose aspirin regime too. It's just good common sense and since the DVT risks do increase, why not. I'd recommend it too. I also put my 1 multi-vitamin in with the other pills. I have one of those weekly pill dispense thingies (they cost about $0.99) and they really help me. Sometimes I forget if I've taken them or not and I can look at my dispenser and see that if I have or have not.
Best of luck to ya gal!
