hun wander over to the out and about section and read some of the stories over there, there are loads of tips on getting out and about.:)

Are you looking for any specific advice ?, it is kinda hard to give advice without knowing in what area you are looking for it ?

Hey - Until just four months ago we were neighbors! Pdx is a real diverse town, generally accepting.
If in doubt go downtown, between 25th and the Willamette River along Burnside. If you want to wander a mall, head to the Lloyd Center.
More on the eastside, the Sunnyside Mall is just a throng. Get lost in the crowd.
Also, just across the river from downtown you can try Hawthorne. From about 12th up to 39th... that section is all counter culture. You will be just fine.
