Congrats Kim!!

I've been researching the entire name changing process this past week, so I'll be doing mine soon too, hopefully before the end of the year, but still contemplating on whether or not to change my last name too while I'm at it, I do hate the thought of doing that, but heard it's highly recommended for someone that wants to go stealth, which I do plan on doing after SRS..

In Mass, I can definitely change my drivers license gender marker now, by providing a letter from my therapist, and according to their web site can even change my name with no documentation needed (gray area) as long as it's not meant for purposes of fraud, but that info is wishy washy info, fraud?? They say you can with no documentation on one line, then say that you do need documentation on another line.. So looks like it's less confusing to get my legal name changed 1st..and better that way anyways..
But will need proof of SRS to change my birth certificates gender marker..

The whole name changing process should go well, but do see myself doing lots of legwork running around everywhere afterwards updating all my info, when that time comes, DL, Social security, bank accounts, insurance, charge accounts, utilities, passport, you name it, it will all have to change right away, as well yours..
So good luck on all that too!!!..

Hi Best wishes, I had my court date on Sept 14th, it all went quite easy and fine. I then went to Social security office and then had to wait until the follwoing Wed. to get my driver's license. It was this big sence of releif and good feeling. You will feel great. I go full time at work on Nov 1st. I have been counting the days now.

My hr rep is talking with her management and legal dept as too which bathroom facilities I would use, womens or mens room. I have discussed the issue with her already and told her I can understand the concerns from men as to having me use the mens room and also the concerns of women having me use the womens room knowing I still have not had surgery yet.

I told her that based on the std model of care for transitioning women, that the womens room is the preferred solution to use. I suggested to address possible concerns with the women was to put a lock on the door, so when I needed to use it that I could lock the door and use it privately. This seems to be the solution they will accept till I have surgery in the future.

I'm happy for you, Kimberly. I bet you can't wait! Another bathroom solution for you at work would be if they could make a "family restoom". Oh, and as for Sharon...Go Dodgers! :heehee:

Kimberly For my situation the University has many single/family restrooms that are available. But if they don't have that option then the lock on the door makes sense. The thing you need to make sure of is that the lock can be anlocked in the case of an emergency from the outside. This is a safety issue and I think it is universally needed no matter what location of the country your in. Good luck with your transition.

Telling people, once the first few are done, it's like you want to tell everyone. You can't stop. I'm up to about 18 people who know at work now. I'm telling one new person a day as my personal goal before coming out officially. Thinking instead of waiting till my name change is official in December, I'm considering coming out officially in the first week of November. I just can't wait anymore.. For those wanting to come out and transition at work, I say just go for it.. Kimberly Marie Kelly :battingeyelashes:
