To the lucky ones who are postop SRS . I have to save alot of money in coming months an years for transitioning. My question to the Transwomen , how much did it cost you out of pocket cost for your SRS. Figuring I dont have insurance coverage for cosmetic surgery. I am a point where I need to sell my home to get SRS ?

Thank you girls for your time an honesty. Breena

mine was covered through medical. but the cost through my surgeon is $15.000.00 plus transportation to and from the airport so another $140.00 plus air fare. then your recovery time at home at least 3 months if all goes well the first time.

I had mine done in Thailand two years ago, total cost including travel and stay for two was around $11,000.

One can finance ANYTHING with good enough credit and a smart enough lender...

But before you consider financing SRS - just consider wether or not you want to risk having the repo man coming...

To those who had SRS overseas did the surgeon require two letters prior to surgery?

Thank you girls, at least I know its obtainable. LOL I dont want to be reposessed either. Geez and I was reading 42,000 over seas ouch. I might not have to sell the house after all. Wife doesnt care cuz we hate some of the neighbors any way. I have started to get strainge looks from people as I transition right in public. weird fealing!

Thank you girls Love Breena

I had two letters, but most surgeons overseas are less strict about it and will accept one letter or have you do a psych evaluation there.

i believe MJ is right about the cost of srs in canada but if i'm correct, ontario has listed srs under the surgery's covered by OHIP if the right requirments are met. wich in my option is a good step forward.

Thanks for the reply, I rather have my surgery done in the USA but been having problems finding (at least in Oregon) a second doctor who is a) qualified b) will to do a eval and write a letter. I am going to try up to December and if no luck look to overseas with my one letter.

I had two letters also, one from my psychiatrist and my HRT letter from my endocriniologist.
